With castile soap add coconut milk and tea tree oil, olive oil, and a few drops of other oils and make your moisturizing shampoo and you can freeze in ice cubs.
Here to learn what products to use on my boyfriends hair, and i've been researching how to retwist his locs and keeping them healthy. Thank you so much for this video, it's helped me so much!
Ok so first, That beat is life! I love your videos, they are so helpful for everyone on the NATURAL HAIR journeys. Your videos make feel so happy! colorful and spiffy! Great Video!=)
This video definitely helped me and the comments, too! I've started my loc journey about 3 months ago and just really now learning the ropes. Thank y'all for the advice and help :)
Im on my 2nd month with locs. My loctitian friend only used pure aloe and a rat tail comb. I use rosewater and homemade oils on the daily and that wild growth is the BOMB honey!!
conditioner is my enemy since I have very fine hair. Instead, I use Paul Mitchell clarifying shampoo 3 (clarifier) 1x a month, dr. bronner peppermint biweekly washes, shea moisture shampoos, Jane carter leave in conditioner spray (daily moisture), jane carter loc holding spray (retwist), diy aloe juice spritz, diy herbal hair rinses and sprays ... oil is my best sealant ... avocado oil, coconut oil, olive oil, argan oil..u name it..lol. Recently, I've been trying alikay and tgin oils..love them.. I'm just like you.. no to parabens, sulfates, or any artifical stuff on my locs but as for my edges I use gorilla snot to slay.
Gina St. louis Gina St. louis yaaaas, I love how detailed you are. I appreciate that so much. 😘 that jane carter leave in conditioner, how's the consistency? And I was going to try out tgin brand, I need to see how it is!! I have gorilla snot but I'm so scared to use it 😭😭 it has mad alcohol in it lol.. thanks for watching Queen ❤️❤️
Thanks for the product recommendations...I'm 1 week on my lock journey and learning about products for healthy locs ...will definitely start to follow you...thanks !
Great product review! I had loose natural hair for over 10yrs and learned everything about my hair. Feel like I am starting again on this loc journey and having to learn my hair all over again! I will get there though!😃
I love the honesty in this video. My products have changed over the years as well. I started out with anti itch oils, carrot oils and a few other things that I cannot remember. Now I incorporate Coconut, Jojoba, Argan, Olive and a Carrot Serum into my moisture routine. I use the Argan Oil that you had in your video as well, but for it to really penetrate my locs I have had to mix it with other lightweight oils. I also use Castor Oil but organic Haitian Castor Oil and I tend to use it when I do a deep hot oil treatment; I mix it with fresh aloe vera gel and the Shea Moisture black jamaican castor oil leave in conditioner; it always leaves my locs very moisturized. I also have found that using a leave-in that I usually dilute with water in a spray bottle gives me extra moisture as well. I want to try the Dr Bronners shampoos but they don't sell it here the Bahamas so I will have to import it because I've heard its so good. But I loved your over the years to the present product review...Great video!
I understand...I was on the fence about conditioner too but I wash it out with hot water and I don't get any build-up.The Shea Moisture one that I mentioned is super lightweight though. I even used it for a retwist a few months ago. But I realised that for my hair texture I need extra moisture, I battled with dry hair because it's color treated; and the diluted leave-in works for me.
I recently started my loc journey and I'm in my 9th month. I brought a loc gel but didn't like how it felt on my fingers. I recently made my own gel with aloe (the plant) and an essential oil mixture and it came out great! As a shampoo I like the Kenya Moore product line. Because as a person newly locked I have lots of dryness and frizz. But the aloe has helped to reduce the frizz on my re twist.
I watch your videos all the time I have been on my loc journey for a year and I have been planning on going from using edge control to pure aloe gel to twist
Oh wow. I wanted to try Eco, but I was afraid that it would be a flaky mess. I'll give it a try. When my "stylist" first twisted my locs, he used a mixture of setting lotion, pressing oil and mousse. My hair was so crunchy and rigid. It looked like they were just twists, and that's what everyone else who saw them thought, also. He also used spritz, which tried my scalp out to the point where I could barely touch it without writhing in pain. Currently, I've been using various waxes and gels, and they've been awful tbh. Lots of buildup and the hold has been getting weaker and weaker. I want to try that Eco asap. This has given me some very helpful ideas.
YOUR VIDEOS ARE WELL NFORMED I APPRECIATE YOU TAKING THE TIME OUT TO EDUCATE PEOPLE. IM NEW TO THIS I JUST STARTED IN JANUARY. THEY ARE LOCKING BUT VERY DRY IM GOINT TO TRY SOME OF THESE PRODUCTS TO SEE WHAT WORKS BEST FOR MY HAIR. THANKS AGAIN AND BY THE WAY YOU ARE A VERY BEAUTIFUL QUEEN.
Really great video. You didn't miss a beat. I've used several of those products with similar results. Castille dried my hair, Creme of Nature detangled mg locs, I love Rose water! Thanks for the other recommendations.
I m a mixed girl n hv daughters with mixedish hair and you are spot on about the products and the descriptions I feel the same way about the products you liked and disliked 💓truth even if you don’t hv locs I was hear doing research for someone with locs 💓💓💓
I have baby locs and I've been product hunting for some lightweight hair products to help with my hair... Thank you for this video, this was very helpful.
I used aloe with honey and some natural oils when I start my daughter lock journey , and she went from her hair being 4in. to know on her back and it's been 2 1/2 years. I actually getting ready to star my lock journey.
I have use mango and lime and neatbraid conditioning shinning gel. I am only about 3 month in so I'm new to loc world. Thanks for you info I will buy the rose water the tee tree oil and the eco gel because of your recommendation. Thank you, you are beautiful and your hair is beautiful also.
Love this video and your other ones...I just started mine a month ago. I'm loving the process and embracing my natural hair...can't wait to see the finished product...
NEW SUBSCRIBER! I Love Ur Videos . Recently cut 10 yr old locs due to breakage, thinning from over twisting, medications, use of bad "concoctions"🤔But I miss my locs so I've decided to start a New Journey. This time with More Attention To What I Put In Them and More Love!!! Thanks for your information and honesty. AND NOT HAVING ALL THAT CRAZY MUSIC DROWNING OUT YOUR VOICE SO WE CAN HEAR YOU!!!! GIRL....🤗 Peace & Blessings 😇
Hey there just an FYI... you have to dilute the Dr. Bronner’s soap. The instructions are on the bottle with all the other writing😉 and for hair I think it’s 1 part soap to 10 parts water.
I have been thinking about taking the aloe straight from the plant as well. I use Bumble and Bumble shampoo- no conditioner as of yet since I'm still in the starter loc phase. Love to see the vid with the Aloe though!
+Des Jeff I still have yet to get my hands on the Aloe plant! I think I'm going to just just retwist with coconut oil this time, I want to see if my retwist still hold whether I use gels or just water/oil... but definitely going to try out the gel from the Aloe itself
Love the video. This is my 4th time on a loc journey. Successful past journeys. But those past journeys were no youtube. Evrything i did was through trial and error. Always loved my locs but hated the build up. Also didn't have all the amazing products of today. I seen your locs probably 3 years ago. And fell in love with the idea of loc journey again. I want to do the journey again to see the potential of beautiful debri free locs. Thanks for the info. I dont want to put a damper on your info, but check out a video by a youtuber who did a VERY EXTENSIVE research on eco styling gel. I was shocked. I will find her. I cant remember her site right now. But thank you again for your info. Be well be blessed.
I've use soooo many things lol I let the African braid shop start my locs initially I followed suit with using bees wax and that horrid pro style brown gel. I've used the mango and lime gels and shampoo omg and the creme of nature which unraveled me lol. I moved on to design essentials products which were good, and alternated between that and taliahs products. Today is the day I purchase new products so I'm gonna try the Castile soap and wild grow (my sister swears by it) and use rose water in my beard
+VerDarryl Burch thanks for sharing that! Wow... glad you're able to switch to healthier products before it's too late.. that's awesome! Let me know how you like the Castile soap..
I know I am late seeing this but I’m glad i did because I use most of the ones you said. And I am currently using the cream of nature conditioner and now I understand why my locs are unraveling, so thank you..
Patty! This video was extremely helpful! Can you please do a video with a split screen showing us how you retwist with the eco gel vs the aloe vera? Any kind of eco gel doesn't hold for a retwist at all. I never tried the aloe.
Just started locking 2 months ago 😂 I mix olive oil , castor oil in a spray bottle with a little water and spray my hair everyday. That's all I use good day and thank you 💕
I've been looking for the perfect no build up twist solution and aloe Vera sounds perfect. I don't use any other products at this point except dr. Bronners baby sensitive soap. The moisturizers in there does so good for my sons dreads. It cleaned his hair so well. I follow up with a a really nice braid oil spray by better braids. It has peppermint castor jojoba olive avocado and vit a,d and e.
new to the loc game since 11/01! been using the hydrotherma naturals product line...so far so good. the last wash i didn't use conditioner bcuz it was causing build-up (for me) but the clarifying shampoo, hair lotion, growth oil, etc -all very good. your review was great! i've always got a jar of eco styler, olive oil and black castor oil around the house! good to know you stand by them, in case my own locs need some reminders of where they came from lol! ❤️
+DEANNA MCDANIELS aww congrats on your new journey!! That's awesome. I've never tried hydrotherma but I heard great things about it.. and thank you so much! Blessings ❤️️❤️️❤️️
Hey, just want to say that when I used that ECO gel with Argon, it REALLY MADE MY HAIR FLAKEEEEEEEEEE!!!!! But not to diss your video, it was great and helpful!! I'm getting the rose water soon, heard it smelled good and was good to moisturize the locs with along with other oils. Another great product I saw was the essential oils and it is something I heard to mix with the rose water also. I'm trying to find a natural loc gel or product for my hair. I'm glad how you mentioned the parabens crap, because I read that it was a carcinogenic. Really looking for a great shampoo, just bought the Tea tree with peppermint shampoo but haven't used it yet. Thanks for mentioning a shampoo to use. I'm greatful for your video, keep it up!!!
i have or currently using most of the products you've mentioned.. this was very helpful for me and i will definitely be trying twisted sista..also patty i would love to see a tutorial from yu on the aloe vera gel , how to diy ,how well it holds up , the smell and if it leaves any residue..thanks in advance love yur channel😉
Keisha Smith Keisha Smith I'm glad it was helpful love! That's makes me so happy 😬😬 I appreciate you! I'll definitely do a detailed video for the Aloe video, the next time I retwist.. ❤️❤️❤️ blessings
Patty Phattty yes I spritz it on all over- I really spritz the top portion of my starter loc's and smooth out my baby hairs as well. Your crown is just fabulous 🌹 I have a long way to go. Maybe I'll grab some aloe this evening and try it myself
thank you for sharing I used to love the products that you currently use and swear by them as well which is the wild oil in the white bottle the castor oil and her jojoba oil but not that brand. know that us in the loc community appreciate you. Muah
just get a spray bottle and put natual oil in it... boil clove water and put oils and essentials oils in the water and spray your hair... moisture lock
This is so helpful!! I'm still trying to figure things out!! I knew how to handle my loose natural hair now I'm trying to learn my locs!!! Right now I'm suffering from dry itchy scalp 😔.
Shana Middleton I'm glad it helped love! Tea tree and rosemary oil will do you justice for that dry itchiness! I put 4-5 drops of tea tree and rosemary oil + rose water in a spray bottle when my hair gets a little itchy.. try doing hot oil treatments too
OMG , my locs are about 5 months old and I use mango lime to retwist my hair , and I also use sea breeze to clean my scalp , it helps , also can you do a video on how your locs have grown over the years like to you have pictures. Alos would you ever take your locs out?
Christelle Berry Christelle Berry congrats on your 5 months love! I've never tried sea breeze before, glad it's working well for you.. Do you mean like how it was when I had starter locs up until now? Also My loc anniversary is January 2 and I plan on doing a video for my 5 years loc'd.. I'll never take my locs down. Never thought about it, never had the urge. I absolutely love them. It's literally freedom to my life ✨
Dr Bronner dried my Locs real bad. Went through so many bottles of oil because it was so dry. Had to stop using it, couldn't take the dryness and itchiness. However it did clean my Dreads very well. May use tiny amount once a year to deep cleanse but that's about it for me.
I’ve never tried the yellow bottle. I’d only used the white bottle of the wild growth oil and had to stop using it because it gave me a horrible buildup. It works though.
Really trying to stay away from using this & that but i do use rose water mixed with a small amount of glycerin. Glycerin is also great for moisture and dry hands and feet for me . I read the Sista product here in Illinois if I can't pronounce the crap its not going in my gut or my head. Thanks, boo boo.
hi ! thank you for the informative vid 💓 so i got my 1st retwist yesterday and when i asked what my stylist used, she showed me the eden bodyworks edge glaze that you showed. was she not supposed to use it to retwist my hair ? 😩
I'm so glad I found your channel! My baby locs are 2 months old. I used Jamaican Mango & Lime cooling gel on my first retwist before I started learning more about ingredients. I just recently got Taliah Waajid Loc it Up. Hopefully it works well.
Wsup Queen Can you tell me the name of the green bottle of oil that has "organic" underneath of the name of the product? It's up on the screen at 8:38. I'd greatly appreciate it
What product did you guys use on your starter locs to retwist when you were starting out or when you started? If you don't have locs, what's your favorite thing to use to moisturize your hair?
To begin my loc journey i used Giovanni and Shea Moisture products to cleanse and condition. I used Jane Carter Solutions Twist & Lock and the leave in nourishing cream to retwist. Ive also used Lily of the desert Aloe Vera Gel to retwist as well as Kinky Curly because it was vegan and i liked the simplicity of the ingredients but now i use Taliah Wajid lock it up and my Holy Grail product is Jane Carters Nourish and Shine cream for a healthy shine and a bit of moisture. P.S. i can't live without a few spritz of rosewater everyday
Would it be ok to start locks with the mango & lime gel & a leave-in conditioner? And just retwist with something better? I want to start my locs but there’s few stylists where I am who can. I plan on maintaining them on my own after she starts them for me.
I came on here just to find products to use, because I'm currently using that mango lime mess (lawd gawd lol) thank God I came across your video 😂😀 THANKS!!
I use 100% aloe Vera gel to retwist my locs and I love it..no build up no crunch and it tames the frizzies.
Jeanette Batiste do you have a pic of the bottle?
+Ms Collins I think she is speaking of the actual Aloe Vera plant.
Jeanette Batiste o ok
Ooooo thank you I'll try this for my son
Jeanette Batiste where do you buy your aloe vera gel ..im looking for a gel that doesn't flake or dry out my hair..thanks so much
The aloe plant is the original way Rastas in Jamaica loc their hair. I use BB Tropical Roots Locking Gel.
With castile soap add coconut milk and tea tree oil, olive oil, and a few drops of other oils and make your moisturizing shampoo and you can freeze in ice cubs.
She is so beautiful! I've been on a locs marathon xD my brother asked me to do on him, so I'm trying to learn as much as I can
Here to learn what products to use on my boyfriends hair, and i've been researching how to retwist his locs and keeping them healthy. Thank you so much for this video, it's helped me so much!

This video definitely helped me and the comments, too! I've started my loc journey about 3 months ago and just really now learning the ropes. Thank y'all for the advice and help :)
I use Shea butter to do a retwist it keeps my locs very moisturized and adds shine.I also follow up with castor oil and tea tree oil for my scalp
Same. I love the shea butter.
So is water & oil the best option to start your locs. Im starting my second set soon!
I spray rose water onto my locks to lock in moisture and to protect it from the sun.
I am starting to do my locs on my own and your vids are very helpful

Jasmine Sands thank you love! I appreciate you sharing that with me.. I'm scared to put conditioner in my hair because of build up

Its worked for me well. Use when wet and dont use a lot.
+Cynthia Jules I personally don’t like the brand because of its ingredients and it gets flaky and build up over time

So what do you moisturize with? Like a water base spray I mean. Like rose water, castor oil water etc

I use rose water daily all over my body :)
+Des Jeff nice! Do you spritz it on?
Patty Phattty yes I spritz it on all over- I really spritz the top portion of my starter loc's and smooth out my baby hairs as well. Your crown is just fabulous 🌹 I have a long way to go. Maybe I'll grab some aloe this evening and try it myself

Gorgeous 🤯😩😍 and you make very informative videos Thank You!
This is so helpful!! I'm still trying to figure things out!! I knew how to handle my loose natural hair now I'm trying to learn my locs!!! Right now I'm suffering from dry itchy scalp 😔.
Shana Middleton I am currently suffering with the same issue.. tea tree oil does help ..however I'm still searching for the fix😯
+Keisha Smith Thanks!! I have some tea tree oil. How are you using it?
Shana Middleton. I use a applicator bottle to dispense the oil on my scalp and massage it into my scalp and down the length of my locs.
Shana Middleton I'm glad it helped love! Tea tree and rosemary oil will do you justice for that dry itchiness! I put 4-5 drops of tea tree and rosemary oil + rose water in a spray bottle when my hair gets a little itchy.. try doing hot oil treatments too
+Patty Phattty Thank you I will get on that ASAP!!
cream of nature can wash your too❤
i started my locs on aug 18th 😭 i got a longggg way to go
OMG , my locs are about 5 months old and I use mango lime to retwist my hair , and I also use sea breeze to clean my scalp , it helps , also can you do a video on how your locs have grown over the years like to you have pictures.
It's literally freedom to my life ✨
What about deep condition and hot oil treatments?
I'm 6 months in (2nd set of locs). Great advice! your hair is gorgeous! your reggie is similar to mines. Thanks for sharing!
I do use that herbal oil. I like it.
Love your locs and the color! Do you dye them jet black ?
Great video and love that song what is it
Dr Bronner dried my Locs real bad. Went through so many bottles of oil because it was so dry. Had to stop using it, couldn't take the dryness and itchiness. However it did clean my Dreads very well. May use tiny amount once a year to deep cleanse but that's about it for me.
I've had mine for almost two years and I didn't see it in your poll so I put down here
Eyeshadow tutorial pls 😍
+Michaela Onuchukwu will do soon love! ❤️❤️❤️
Great video mi fren. Very informational
+GoldieLocs101 thank you love!
I'm surprised eco styler doesn't cause you build up. I tried it once and it caused problems
PrettyInPurple I think maybe because I work out so often and I always sweat out my retwist lol.. and I only use a tad bit when retwist
PrettyInPurple it has chemical reactions when mixed with some products that causes white ball or build up
didnt know that. thanks!
How often did you use the wild growth? Did you use it everyday I bought some yesterday
responddddd
Do you use any conditioner after the shampooing or are you not suppose to use conditioner !!??
hi ! thank you for the informative vid 💓
so i got my 1st retwist yesterday and when i asked what my stylist used, she showed me the eden bodyworks edge glaze that you showed.
was she not supposed to use it to retwist my hair ? 😩
Just started my locs two weeks ago I haven’t really used any products in my hair, what products would you recommend me getting as a starter
anise metayer loc-a-fella.....hard to find now....... going out of business
I'm so glad I found your channel! My baby locs are 2 months old. I used Jamaican Mango & Lime cooling gel on my first retwist before I started learning more about ingredients. I just recently got Taliah Waajid Loc it Up. Hopefully it works well.
Keiona Ray congrats on your two months!! Awesome!! Let me know how that lock it up gel works out for you ❤️❤️
I keep sweating out my hair gel, right after I twist the locks :( any ideas on what gel I should use?
BreeTV Taliah Waajid tight hold my husband had the same exact problem. Her products are amazing.
Wsup Queen
Can you tell me the name of the green bottle of oil that has "organic" underneath of the name of the product?
It's up on the screen at 8:38. I'd greatly appreciate it
Its olive oit
What’s the name of that song in the beginning of the video? Thanks in advance!
Dominique Johnson nice!! thanks for sharing!! That nourish and shine cream... is it a thick cream? Any buildup?
Hello, does the Lily of the desert aloe vera gel cause flaking or build up?
i didn't have that happen but since i also clarify my hair bi-weekly and aloe is water soluble i never have a problem washing it out.
Dominique Johnson Did your bottle have carrageenan in it? I'm picky about ingredients.
I use the regular wild growth oil.....should I use light?
I’ve had locs for about 4 months
how often do you use the wild growth. oil on your locs? and is the regular white bottle good also
Great video, what's that song
Kwame the FishTale Natural Toni Braxton- He wasn't man enough for me
Would it be ok to start locks with the mango & lime gel & a leave-in conditioner? And just retwist with something better? I want to start my locs but there’s few stylists where I am who can. I plan on maintaining them on my own after she starts them for me.
Where do you put the wild growth oil? On your hair or scalp?
+Life Undocumented mainly on my scalp... sometimes on my hair.
Very awesome !
Castile Soap is all I use before my braid locs and now. I also like the different castile soaps. Thanks for the videos I'm on the right track thus far
What is the best way to do a good rinse on a budget
Dawn dish liquid
My roots getting thin in the back neck area. So I just start using wild growth I'm hoping it works.
I came on here just to find products to use, because I'm currently using that mango lime mess (lawd gawd lol) thank God I came across your video 😂😀 THANKS!!
Do you use conditioner in your locs?
No I don’t. I either do hot oil treatments, steaming, or tea rinses for conditioning my locs when needed
@@BeSpiffyBeYou Thanks for the reply :)
Anytime love! ❤️❤️
Have you ever dyed your locs?
Great video ! x
Niknakz Ferrol thank you Queen ❤️
