Those primacolors are made for children, the lead is thick, but it is well pigmented, they don't mix as well as the premier ones. However, amazing pieces can be created with these products. The brand simplified the names in order to make the pencils more attarctive to children. The brand actually released the double pointed version for parents to afford prismacolor colored pencils because even the children's products line are way expensive in Colombia
It’s like Faber Castell. Red series. I suppose. They have some lines with double point ends. And it’s absurd the price for art materials even for children! (I’m from Brazil ) I try to always buy for my nephew (7 y today!) and now my niece (1 year).
I am so exited about the Prismacolor junior pencils, you're so lucky that Steve understand Spanish! I don't speak or understand Spanish, but I am interested on this pencils.
I know this is seven months from the video but I looked on Amazon and all I found were 12 Prismacolor pencils 4mm. I wish they had the 48 colored pencils with 4mm. I love to color, especially with thick pens and pencils. I found a lot of Artezas products that were for kids. Coloring is a hobby of mine besides bicycling, crochet and photography. Thanks for finding the lost pencils. Thanks for sharing ❤
Finally just got mine today! Looking forward to sharpening and swatching them! I bought the Scholars a few weeks ago and I like them! Of course Prisma Premier will always be the best😘
One of the good things about studying Art History is learning the names of colors in many other languages. Their different names and origins. Print makers know entire color ranges in math formulas. Just numbers for CMYK. Any colors beyond red, blue, green, yellow and violet are decorator names. Decorator names become very, very subjective. Example is Goldenrod really isn't Gamboge. Gamboge isn't a designer name. It was a pigment from India and their formula was a closely guarded secret. Originally it was created by forcing cattle to eat only mango leaves and collecting the urine to process into a powder. Oh, and it's a good thing to learn a little Spanish.
I recently tried the prismacolour scholar and I love them. Creamy enough that blending is a dream, but firm enough that light, even layers are very doable. And they show up nicely on my toned tan paper.
The Scholars are really nice. Some people find the Premiere’s to be a little too soft, the Scholars are a good alternative, especially if lightfastness is not an issue. Depending upon where someone lives, Prismacolors are budget pencil in my opinion, rather than purchasing dozens of “ budget” pencils trying to find a Prismacolor like pencil. Some are really nice, like the Castle Art Gold, and others that lay down in a similar fashion. There are extras that exist on a spectrum of value depending on the customer. Considering pencils alone, Prismacolor Premiers, Scholars, and Verithins are all good products for what they are made to do. If the Premier’s are too soft, I would consider the Scholars seriously before buying random budget brands, unless you are outside of the Americas where they may be very expensive.
@@Msboochie2 I draw as a hobby and most of my works are in sketchbooks and all are photographed to preserve, so lightfastness isn't a necessity for me at the moment. Though I am getting some white premieres because they are fairly good.
I have the 48 set of Junior's and enjoy them as much as my other prismatic brands. I also used a translation app for the English names.. Glad you too enjoyed them!
Tu! I put the Junior 48s on my birthday list…they seem to be richer than the Scholars, and I think the Scholars hv pretty good pigment! Love anything Prismacolor…so easy on my hands! Glad I tuned in at the last minute tonight!
Thank you Steve for thinking to add the junior Never is enough when we talk about collect colored pencils 🙂 I have the 36 junior set, i love them Are pretty good to start to lean about all this techniques and feel like profesional 👩🎨
Rose says, "I can't believe you forgot those pencils, mama!" I loved the little blooper at the end. 🤭 I'd like to see more bloopers. Those are always fun. Thanks for your sharing, as always!
You guys r such gud people. U will b abundantly blessed. ❤️ 🌹 Thanx so much for all u teach us. In the last 4 years of following u guys, i have learnt so much. 🤗 🤗
Thank you Jennifer and Steve, great review! I love your creativity and wide eyed excitement when you do these reviews. You make me feel good about wanting to try new things. I also appreciate you giving me the dollar value to help me budget. Have a great day and see you next time on your videos. I also mentioned that I like you Facebook site. Take care. - Eileen
I have the Prismacolor Junior of 24 and even I forgot they existed lol. I got them when I visited Mexico years ago and not knowing Prismacolor lines since I was a teenager who wanted some nice color pencils, I accidentally bought the junior instead of the premier...because all the schools in Mexico actually tell you to buy these colors in their supply list, as I learned years later from my aunt who is a teacher in Mexico. The owners of the place thought I was asking for this and not premier since they are very expensive in Mexico. When I played with this set I was very disappointed with their performance since I had begged years for them to my parents until I learned they weren't the premiers I had been wanting LOL. Makes for a great story years later when I finally got the 150 set with my own adult money-- the real Premier ones this time.
I bought the double ended ones a few weeks ago after stumbling on them by accident on Amazon. I really like them and at a price point of $16, I thought they were a steal!
Just so you know, at Walmart (in Puerto Rico) the Prismacolor SCHOLAR have the writting in Spanish! I've never seen the Prismacolor Junior, and thought it was curious to see a package in English reading Scholar, but the pencils are in Spanish. 😆
Lol! I never expected the Spanish struggle, and found it so strange. Initially, I thought these pencils were counterfeit. I thought I would find out they were very nice counterfeit Prismacolors, and that is all. This turned out to be far more interesting! Particularly unexpected, because there was seemingly far less confusion when using, swatching, and reviewing Chinese, Japanese, or Korean pencils. I just never imagined that a little Spanish would cause this amount of confusion. Surprise, surprise! Perhaps being from the East coast, particularly as a NY ‘er, where there is a large Latino presence, I am so accustomed to seeing and hearing everything in multiple languages, primarily English and Spanish. Especially, since Prismacolor are based in Mexico, I would have thought they should have both the he English and Spanish names printed on them….they don’t. They instead have the English and French color names printed on them, which I bought fairly recently from a local NYC art store. I could be mistaken. My old eyes can’t see or read any of them very well nowadays, so it’s no big deal.
I am from Puerto Rico 🇵🇷 whenever I go my flag goes with me proud to be Puerto Rican, and yes we have Prismacolor at Walmart and Capris local store and these pencils are from Mexico affordable for the Spanish speaking community (beginners and kids)because is hard to find them for South America but since Puerto Rico is a commonwealth we have Prismacolor Premiere and Juniors we Puerto Rican we Bilingual Spanish/ English we are Americans citizens too Rogger That ! Ignorant people laugh at what they can’t accomplish
Hello 👋 Jennifer and Steve. I really enjoy watching 👀 your videos. There's another line of Prismacolor Junior Colored pencils. They're Prismacolor Junior Pastel colors. I just recently purchased the 24 count set off of eBay.
Great video..and completely suprising :) - I thought the content will be about colors from 'normal' set you've been using so rarely, that you forgot about them :))) I'm wondering which colors you're using the least? In my case there are dark and medium violets and black.
I have been trying to get these in Canada. They have now discontinued the 48 set of single points. I got the 24 double point just so I scan have a record of all the colours.
Hi there! I'm from México and i can translate You what they put in the box. Prismacolor junior are the prismacolor scholar Range for latin américa and south América wich is si sad because even prismacolor scholar are Made here in México, they're not available here. Prismacolor junior Great colored pencil selection for inspiring young artists Prismacolor offers the Best art supplies, designed for young people in order to develope their artístic habilities, with a wide Range of colores, each young artist gets the Best for showing their talento off. 1. Open the packaging up from the bottom and slide the box pointing You. 2. Bend superior part of the cardboard box backwards by the dotted line. 3. Close the lower part. 4. Place the box as show. Not Made of tropical jungle wood.
I'm probably one of those few people who absolutely HATE double-ended color pencils. Mainly because each pencil is only half the size of a standard pencil. If you use one particular color way more than the one on it's opposite end, or they keep breaking, you'll get extremely limited usage out of them.
Hi there, I was wondering where do I get the swatch chart spiral bound from? I love your channel, I watched your rule of thirds with colouring and thank you it has helped me so much ❤
Hi, go to the Coloring Bliss website, they have their own print shop, they made those swatch books and many beautiful coloring books. They have many options for you to customize your books. I hope it helps. 😊
My mom is unwell, so hasn't been able to check. I swear Prismacolor was the brand of pencils we had growing up, and the box design that stands is the same. Wonder why they stopped making them in these boxes. 🙆♀️
I see the Junior is crumbly, but do they feel grainy or smooth? I have tried some crumbly cheaper versions of color pencils and they felt like I was coloring with sandpaper.
Maybe you can give the Junior Prismas for someone that wants to color but does'nt have the money to buy pencils, like me. I would like to start coloring in, but would love to have pencils (any pencils). I have 10 pencils a friend gave me... but would love to have a set. It calms me down and helps me with my severe anxiety an stress. Lots of lots from South Africa, Ilze 💕
She did! She compared them to the Prismacolor Scholar line, not the Prismacolor Premier line which is obviously much softer. The Scholar line is geared for students so it was a good choice to compare the Junior to the Scholar in my opinion.
I never even heard of these. So not all South America. I’m in Brazil. Well… it feels like we’re not the same. I don’t know the first thing about Spanish. Oh well… not really! I do know how to sing DOS ORUGUITAS 😂 (in English and Spanish but not in Portuguese. I’m strange… 😂😂😂😂). Probably due to the amount of Domestika courses I watched 🤣
Over $16?! You got ripped off! My local artshop sells a 36 pencil set for less ($11.68 ➕️ tax, it comes down to $13.02) P.S. I live in Puerto Rico. And Walmart has the 12 and 24 color sets, too.

thx for the info. I was really looking for a cheaper alternative to use on taned tan/kraft paper. Prismacolor are really expensive in my country.

They are over£30 in uk, think I’ll save up for premiere
They are the same as the Scholar just with a different name and presentation. You can also get the Scholars in Mexico as well
Jennifer was pretty adamant they're different!
I don’t think so… Jennifer was being pretty careful to test them
