You wouldn't believe it, but I worked on my Birthday!
It wasn't as bad as I thought though. I Got cake in the breakroom from my wonderful work colleagues and even got me some Swedish candy - Thanks, Dan!
For this blog, I will be doing a stethoscope comparison between the coolest stethoscope in town so you’d have an informed decision on what’s the best stethoscope for nurses. Do you know cat ladies? Well, I would be a cat lady if it wasn't for the fact that I can't have a pet in my apartment, so I've become a stethoscope lady instead. I put all of the stethoscopes that I currently have and that I've tested around my neck as part of my research and it's quite a few!
Now I've had some requests to do a comparison video on the MDF 777 Rose Gold vs Littmann Classic III.
These two behemoths are both classics in the stethoscopes world and are both deserving of competitors.

I'm about to start veterinary school and received the MDF 777 as a gift. I've heard the long tubing is helpful for vet students since some of our patients are quite large and can be difficult to work with!
Nichole T Absolutely! It’s just a personal preference for me. I think it’s a great stethoscope! And yes, if you’ve got patients that move around, the longer tubing would help you! Good luck in your studies! 🙏😊👍 😺🐶🦄
So the mdf 777 is better for listening to the heart and lungs of a dog or cat then
Littmann's binaural seems to bent easier especially the newer ones. It's the MDF more hardy?
If MDF is cheaper by 20 dollars.. which one would you suggest me to buy?
For me, I think I would choose the Littmann. Not because of the acoustics, I’d say they are both equally as good however, I like my stethoscopes to be light and the MDF is heavier than the Littmann.

Essentially you could go with either one, I think they are pretty much on par. The MDF 777 is longer in the tubing and weighs more than the Classic III. It just depends on your preference 😃
i found someone selling a new in box mdf 777 for $50. Despite scoring a little lower in your review, is the quality still good enough considering i can get it for 50% off retail?

To me it’s probably the classic III as it is lighter and not as long in The tubing as the 777.

That's a good question! Depends on what you are lookking for I guess. They are both great stethoscopes. The MDF is a bit heavier, but also a little longer in the tubing - cheaper too! The Littmann has more color options, it's pretty lightweight around your neck. It is however, a little bit more pricey. Either way, you won't go wrong with any of the two. Which one would be better for fresh nursing student?
They are both regular/standard stethoscopes. The only thing I would say is that the Littmann Classic III has the option for a pediatric diaphragm whereas the MDF 777 only has the open bell. Otherwise they would both suit a nursing student!

Hi Uwu! I think it depends on a few things. Like how much you want to spend on the stethoscope. If it’s your first stethoscope and you don’t want to spend a lot of money I would suggest going with the cheaper option of the MDF 777. However, I personally prefer the classic III as it is lighter and not as ‘bulky’. They are both great in their acoustics so you can’t go wrong there. Both these stethoscopes would be great for students really. Just comes down to the small things like the weight, length of tubing etc.. also if you want rose gold, MDF has the white tubing and rose gold chest piece which I do t think Pittman offers at the moment. But Pittman has a lot of other colors and combinations. It’s a hard decision! 🤪 but at the end of the day you’d be fine with either of these two 👌👍 Nurse Jenny

Hey Jenny Did you have a review between MDF 797 X and littmann 3 classic?! Which one is better for heart sounds?! MDF have better price so I want to buy MDF797X. Is that good as classic 3 or better?!
Hi Gol Pesar! Sorry for late reply, I only just saw your comment now.
I haven't actually done a review on the MDF 797 X but I can see that it is a cardiology stethoscope. The cardiology stethoscope have dual lumen tubing which makes them just that little bit more crisp in the acoustics. So if you were worried that the MDF 797 X doesn't have as good of acoustics as the Littmann Classic III, don't worry. It is probably slightly better even just because it has dual lumen tubing.
