I mean with circumcision we are socially okay with making that choice for not even a talking child but rather a baby. Is that then not actually genital mutilation because the baby didn't even know which hole a French fry goes in at the time that decision was made? I think it's a very complex social discussion and there is historical context to consider. The tradition goes all the way back to when people had no running water or electricity. In some cultures it was viewed as cleanliness because as I mentioned people had much poorer hygene. So I think you have to look at the functional aspects.

In Turkey circumcision is done at around 7 years of age and there is a huge ceremony that follows it with dresses, music etc. that's a bit better than getting a bit off the top as a baby. Don't get me started on female circumcision where they cut off the clitoris entirely. My philosophy is, whatever doesn't grow back leave it as God made it but we will always have people who like to modify their bodies so I understand that as well.

This comment puts things into an interesting perspective. I read on PubMed that a declining age in the beginning of puberty (for which there are many suspected reasons) may be correlated to earlier and also inappropriate (because earlier also means less maturity and education) sexual behavior in minors. Which one would think a conservative would also want to reduce. The topic should be common ground, but it seems that the questions in the video are used to rile up less educated people (like myself before watching Samantha). I really really hope that it's just his own lack of education rather than the more devious explanation.

ughhh I love you so much, my mum and her partner have been asking a lot of questions about the lgbtq+ community, especially the trans community out of curiosity, and to try and be more open and understanding of everything. This channel has helped me so much to try and teach them new things and has also helped gain more of an understanding of the trans community, truly grateful thankyou so much.
Also, if he has any circumcised sons, then he should probably be referred for prosecution. Seeing as the male circumcision regret rate is somewhere around 10%. Contrast the post op detransition rate of about 0.3% overall (of which, only a third do so because of gender identity, the overwhelming majority due to outside factors.)

my parents recently found out i am trans ( or as they put it, i believe i am a boy ) and they started telling me about how 90% of people who transitioned regretted it, when i know it isn't even near true. they aren't backing up their claims with anything either, i am so sick of people acting this way.

Because they hate trans people and want them to suffer. Fearmongering is a great way of controlling people; if you make people out to be evil monsters who want to go after your children and hurt them, something the average person would obviously be against, it'll get people on your side. So transphobes will spread as much misinformation as possible and take whatever means necessary to make us look bad to make sure they delay trans acceptance as much as they can.
They genuinely would not care if puberty blockers were used on a cis child going through puberty too early, nor do they care when an intersex child is forcefully given surgery against their will to "make them normal" or a child is circumcised. They just, again, hate trans people.
This comment puts things into an interesting perspective. I read on PubMed that a declining age in the beginning of puberty (for which there are many suspected reasons) may be correlated to earlier and also inappropriate (because earlier also means less maturity and education) sexual behavior in minors. Which one would think a conservative would also want to reduce. The topic should be common ground, but it seems that the questions in the video are used to rile up less educated people (like myself before watching Samantha). I really really hope that it's just his own lack of education rather than the more devious explanation.

ughhh I love you so much, my mum and her partner have been asking a lot of questions about the lgbtq+ community, especially the trans community out of curiosity, and to try and be more open and understanding of everything. This channel has helped me so much to try and teach them new things and has also helped gain more of an understanding of the trans community, truly grateful thankyou so much.

my parents recently found out i am trans ( or as they put it, i believe i am a boy ) and they started telling me about how 90% of people who transitioned regretted it, when i know it isn't even near true. they aren't backing up their claims with anything either, i am so sick of people acting this way.
I don't know about the non-surgical data (I haven't really looked into it), but among those who undergo gender affirming surgeries only 0.096% end up detransitioning due to gender identity. (About 0.3% end up detransitioning overall, but most of those are due to society, not due to the person's gender identity)

The problem i have is that Rachel Levine advised Cuomo to put covid patients in nursing homes. With the newly released death records, everyone who proposed handling covid patients this way, is responsible for 15,000 deaths today. That is a big deal. Much more important that Levine's status. It's a tragedy if republicans make the transgender issue more important than Levine's part in causing these deaths. It definitely means that Levine is not qualified for any position in any medical institution.
