Addendum: This is a size more than pure strength method. But, if y3iu are benching less than 450 or 500 you will still reap strength benefits. They just go together for much of the time. Next, I'd like to address those of you who commented with a pretty surprising amount of certainty that this application is B.S. : I can assure you it is genuine. But, your comments remind me of a story about Henry Ford. It is said that he always took new prospective hires for higher level positions in his company out to lunch personally before hiring them. If they salted their food before they tasted it, be would not bring them on. He said that he did not trust a man who made decisions before he knew all the facts. Likewise, if you have not personally tried this method under proper guidance, you may be making up your mind TOO SOON and without all the information about it.

Those comments confuse me. Would these folks argue that Dorian Yates and Mike Mentzer didn't have great physiques using similar training styles?

Ha! Yes finally someone else gets it! Arnold knew this, he said in PI, "if you have the guts" I call this ETUT. I use this in many ways from full range to partials and exercise to exercise. I had the pleasure of working out one time with Mike Katz in the 90s. If you get the opportunity to train with a pro, you bring what "you think" is everything, but that day Mike showed me what he thought was everything and he said, "if you want muscle growth this is what it takes". I was like, "you got to be kidding me?" That is how hard he pushed me just to make the point, that is what it takes. Holds, pauses, partials, and sequencing good food; and for the lay lifter, no drugs, will serve you well your entire life. Praise God!
Try this "sequence" for the shoulder. I call it "around the cap". Start with a fairly light pair of DBs. Count all reps. Do palms up, slightly bent arm, front raise, reaching failure, bend the arm and keep going to positive failure; now go to side laterals, again slightly bent, approaching failure go to 90-degree bent to positive failure; now bend over and work the rear delt raise, same process (at the end, I add some lat type pulls, forward and to the rear after failure) stand up straight and start to press, (first perpendicular then close parallel) then to partials, finally drop the weights to a hang and do upward pulls, elbows wide to failure, arch and add traps. Lighter DBs you can hit 100 reps and heavy 40-60 reps. ETUT for the shoulders by Dehlinger.

I'm lucky in that my chest was always my biggest, best part. I've maintained my size but it eats at me that after 2-3 sets of pressing my shoulder burns out. I even really focus and use mind muscle connection but my shoulder literally burns or hurts. I have arthritis in my shoulders and low back. Turmeric has worked but not for my shoulders. I now have been doing more rear delt work and pulling as my bread and butter. Literally can do 2-3 sets of bench and 3 sets of ohp and that's just what I can do. Luckily from a size standpoint it's there but it's shitty to just love lifting and that happens. I work around it and keep learning new ways.

Good question. I am going to give you an unsatisfying answer: Experience tells you. Until you gain that experience, go with this mantra: I have NOT gone far enough. Nobody goes far enough until they practice. You can just keep building on what you did last time. It will be years until you are in danger of going too far in 6 or 8 minutes.

@@j.m.blakley4126 Thank you. This make sense, I’ve done this in jiujitsu, I’ve rolled until can’t walk off the mat and had to just lay there half dead. But in those cases everything I’ve ever gathered is the harder u can push and endure the better you will be. I found this to be true.
But in lifting I often hear that there’s an idea range, and if your always overshooting it won’t work, like I guess if your going so heavy that u can’t get volume in. And it was hard to separate that, from the bodybuilding finishing work you do after. I believe I heard you say that you don’t want to miss reps in training, so then really I was like oh shit I should really not miss reps anymore.
