Winging It I just checked three’s website and it says “Very Good Service” I currently get 3-10mbs and I’m with BT. I have checked every providers websites and they all offer the same. I live in a fairly big town. Do you think that with this I will get better speeds?
DAMN!! I live on a new estate with no fibre and it's annoying. I am really tempted to do this but worried I won't have a reliable connection for gaming. Question, have you disconnected much? Also, what kinda signal does it indicate on your device/phone for 4g? My phone currently gives me half a bar or less but I imagine the router can get a better signal strength?
Hey, i haven't disconnected at all from it, there haven't been any issues with that. In terms of signal on my phone i get the full amount of bars and always a 4G signal. I use it on my PS4 and computer as well at the same time and both of those run at very high speeds with no drops. I should imagine that this would be ideal for a place with no fibre. As i said in the video i live in the middle of the countryside and its good for me. But it all depends on what data signals are like in your area. But there is a tool on Three's website where you can input your postcode and it will tell you what coverage is like in your area. Hope this helps, and the video does too!
@@WingingIt Thanks, yeh I get half a signal, sometimes less on my phone so that worries me lol. I've decided for now to stick with standard broadband. Maybe try this sometime in the future. I wish I could try it for 1month but at a reasonable price but the price is shockingly high when you only buy it for a month. I read in a comment recently that in the small terms and conditions they actually cap you after 1gb data usage and inspect why you are using so much so not truely unlimited. Did u ever use more than 1gb a month?
Definitely, uploading just one of my videos consumes 1-2gb easily. I think last month i used around 50gn ish. Never had any issues or anything from Three. Guess if they were to check it would be the legality of what you're using it for. Plus all data contracts, even on your phone have fair use policies, but it certainly hasn't affected me yet.
Hello, i would just like to make a comment on how my 4g wifi had been and what i recommend to improve your wifi (i have tried a lot of different things). 4g wifi is great, my average speed is 80 mbps when the fastest available in my area is 10 mbps. However the downside is that the ping is an average of 40-50. So what i do is i have a cheap broadband which i only use for gaming and 4g for everything else. In terms of having unreliable broadband i HIGHLY recommend the tp link av500 or better which can be bought for less than £20 and grants ultra reliable internet if your router is far away from your device, what i have done is wired the av500 into a second router upstairs so the upstairs internet is as good as downstairs. In my experience normal extenders do not work and the reason the av500 does is because it is basically an ethernet connection
High five dude ✋🏼 I’ve just moved house to a very rural area & I’m about to get my first Three 4G home router like yours.. I pray I can get similar speeds to what you have 🙏🏼 Great video bud 👍🏼
Hi... great video! How is the B311 speed in other rooms around the house? I'm thinking of buying it for 3 people in the house. They'll be accessing from ground floor and 1st floor. Do you think it's suitable for multiple users in a small home or is it only good for one person? I currently have the Huawei portable 5576 (soap bar type) and that's only useable for me at close proximity. In other rooms the signal is either terrible or non-existent.
Well the B311 is now discontinued. It’s now the B535, which you can find on my channel also. But yes, it’s worked fine throughout the other rooms and even out in the garden for me.
I ordered this today. I live in the country in West Sussex and with BT we get max DL of 5 meg. I seen this offer on Facebook and decided to try it. My only worry is the Three signal where I am. My mobile phone network is EE and they're generally faster and I get a max of 40 meg download. I really doubt I'll get that with Three as I was with them for over 15 years untill I changed to EE so I know how bad they are. Let's hope they've improved! I get mine on Thursday.
Helpful, thanks mate. POTS broadband isnt funny! I wonder do three still sell with these hubs as I can only see them with the small pocket hubs.... Stoked it worked for you anyway, cheers
try on amazon, ~50£ a good one. order a voxi card with the 10£/month. over 8 months with unlimited data now lol I play all games with it. forgot about talk talk quick. 90Mbps download/30upload 35ms
The problem with mobile broadband still, is the data capping at certain times. I've also noticed with intense work, like live HD video, you are limited to one device that's going to work. As soon as you add live TV in another room, the internet stalls. I suppose so many are using a 4G network, three has to cap it to share it around.
What I would like to know is in comparison with a mobile phone is the latency ms better or worse? I have a Xiaomi Poco F1 mi ui 12 and at servers with paris i get 73-76ms (while with my land adsl im gettin around 67-69) will the ms will be lower with a 4G router. Im thinking tplink 4G+ mr600... it will have lower ms,same or more in your opinion? (Im from Greece and im playing mostly World of Warcraft- portably router is not something i need)
4G is definitely better if you live in the middle of nowhere and cant get a full fibre connection. I used 4G for almost 3 years until BT installed full fibre at my house.
Well mate, I live in London zone 2 and the infrastructure here is such garbage that our speed is only slightly better than in your village. Thanks for the review I think It's time I move to 4G.

Jamie Stewart yeah i play a lot of online games with friends so i end up the end of people’s jokes a lot of the time when my ping spikes its hella annoying
I live band in the middle of London and paying crazy amount of money to rent my place but they can't even provide fibre here because the infrastructure is too old and they are not willing to dig up the streets because its uneconomical. I've been considering switching to wireless broadband for awhile now although I am worried about the consistency of the speed and the latency which kept me away from it.
Great video. I've just ordered the b525, I originally wanted the 325 but there's not many about. I'm just wondering is you were using an ethernet cable to get those sort of download speeds ?
Hi, I think I have got silly question. Can you use "Mobile" CIM in Router to get better speed ? Is there difference between Broadband and Mobile CIM in terms of speed? I am using Three prepay cim in router and getting upto 2mb/ps. Should I get broadband cim? I am in the 4G area so no issue of signals.
Hi, good question. As far as I’m aware there’s no difference. A sim is a sim. You can buy blank routers and add your own sims to it from EE, Vodafone etc. But I’m my case the device and sim are contracted from Three. Don’t know if you’re in a similar situation, but I would contact three if the speeds aren’t up to scratch. But be very careful about swapping sims if you’re on a contract. They’ll charge you a huge amount to leave a contract early.
4G homebroadband is much faster than normal broadband you just have to pick the right router for it to work more stable. The 4G technology is there now for pc gaming and the next generation 5G (better than fibre) is expensive tho. For the 4G you dont have to worry about limited GB limits. Truly unlimited.
Yeah so i watched this video when it first came out and i am now about 1 year into having full 4g only internet with EE (3 is crap round this way). i got a few sims to see which one was best and now i get a max down of 40mbps but the average is more like 15-20 ish. still better than adsl and much cheaper now we dont pay line rental. adsl i got about 6mbps which is awful.
The video buffered several times whilst trying to watch this video! I don't exactly live in the countryside, but I have shit broadband as I get slower download speeds than advertised and it always drops out in my bedroom so was thinking of getting a data plan instead and using my phone as a hotspot for my PC. I stream movies/videos from Netflix/Amazon/RUclips. Would you recommend a solution like that to me?
Well, it depends on the signal strength in your area of course. If that’s okay then it could work. Issue with phone data is that not many providers make it unlimited. I used to use my iPhone as a hotspot and I had to keep buying more and more data as RUclips and everything else drained it quick. That’s the difference with this hub, that it operates off the same signals but this particular contract has unlimited data. Not a limit of 20gb like phones normally do.
Interesting... Thanks for replying so quickly! Your video was very informative. I just saw some Three deals where you get unlimited data/mins/texts, where you truly get unlimited data (doesn't talk about a cap in small print) for £20/month. When the internet does work I'm getting a max of 10 mbps and upload of less than a mb, but the issue is that it's always dropping out. I tested the hotspot solution and I'm getting like 40 down and 6 up with much lower response times.
Dominate955 Yes mate sounds good, as you saw in the video my speeds before were abysmal. I can upload a ten minute video in 5 minutes these days. Rather than the 8 hours it used to take! But glad to be of help anyway, I saw your comment within seconds. Got me phone notifications on 😂
What are the like for data usage I know it’s meant to be unlimited but I’m a PC gamer and can download some very large game files each month, some games are 40-70gig per game, is it truely unlimited or will I get blocked/slowed if I download too much?
the internet in the UK is disgusting in most places.. at home I have 20Mbps download and 3Mbps upload from talktalk. the promised was 35/9 lol so, got a voxi card (10£ a month) and for 8 months I am using with unlimited data. 25/30ms response and 85/90 Mbps download and 35Mpbs upload with 4G. just get a 4G router or hotspot, and test it.
Does this three home broadband still work ok? Any issues with connection downloading or does it still work as well today as when you ordered it months ago?
So, mine arrived yesterday. Connected straight away. I only get 26 meg max download and about 20 meg up. A hell of a lot better than the BT broadband we have. I wish it was a bit faster but I guess where in a bad signal area.
I am in the city 300 metres from a tower. I am buying a 4G/5G outdoor Huawei router and putting it on my roof. I should be able to get over 1, 000 Mbps once 5G is turned on here.
Do you know how the telephone socket works on the back of your router with a standard telephone? Assuming your router has that functionality. I would replace my current set up with one of these if it had telephone functionality.
I would, but the normal house wifi is what the rest of the house uses. My room is on this 4G wifi only. So as i pay for it I don't want the others using it. so they need the normal wifi in place.
@@WingingIt Pluging a phone into the modem and getting it going might make a good follow up video. Your first video sold me on the idea of having unlimited mobile internet, thanks for that.
Hey - I have really bad bandwidth from our WiFi as we have a lot of people using the router. I can't seem to play my PS4 online without getting awful lag... surely, if I were to buy a 4G Hub, you'd need a plan with unlimited data as playing games would drain the data and it would cost a fortune?????
Well this has unlimited data. And I’ve never hit the limit decide downloading games, uploading things and playing online. Everything else is in the video
2Mb down on your standard internet is a joke. That shouldn't even be classified as "broadband". I have heard of people in countrysides investing in developing their own FTTP/FTTH broadband, are you in an area that does that?
Can you port forward with that 4G router on 3 network, have you tested online gaming; I have been searching for a 4G broadband provider that can offer port forwarding for gaming, setting up server, CCTV so on.
I’ve played online many times with no issues. I’m regards to port forwarding. I’m not entirely sure, I know you can prioritise devices on the router settings. But I’ve never needed to. Can run online games, my phone, and my computer easily.
See I have this issue on the caravan site I live, their internet is crap...bought w Vodafone mifi device...slightly better but still really crap. Am looking at unlocking and changing to 3, and if that doesn’t make much difference I’m going to try the sim in a netgear router. The little routers Vodafone supply are pretty lame
Is there any difference between the internet speed coming from a router and from a phone? My brother has 3 on his phone and I done a speed test with the 4G data on and the fastest I’ve got so far is around 40 mbps download and around 10 mbps upload. Would the speeds be the same with the router?
One thing I like about those Huawei 4g routers is that they have an RJ 11 phone socket on the back as well, so if your SIM card comes with unlimited minutes you can plug in an old-fashioned landline phone and use it as a free home phone.
Hey man I want to get this router so thanks for making this vid and I’ve got a question. How did the router hold up for you with time and how has the connectivity been? Does it drop?
I pre ordered Google Stadia recently. And my virgin media broadband has been out of service for at two months. The bastards always delay the ETA fix. Ordered this a few days ago. I'll try it out and see what if I want to keep it after the cooling off period..damn I hope this works according to Google you need at least 35mbps for 4K streaming
Got a question hope you can help me I have the same Router When I put a o.2 sim in Work no problem When I put a giffgaff SIM into device It shows that it has the SIM but does not connect a network What can I do
Yes I have been gaming online. In particular I’ve actually been streaming games from playstation now. And that uses a fuckton of data. And requires really good games and it works great for me 😌
@@WingingIt all at one lol? It will be hosting my whole family want to know if it will be worth it seems too good to be true as I’m used to 500KB PER SECOND
@@ASMRdust yes at once. I’m streaming live sport as we speak. And as I do I video call my girlfriend in HD across the world. Whilst running my PS downloading updates.

I’d advise anyone to check with their provider about signal in their area before buying it. Despite an area having 4G, it doesn’t mean that the signal may be good or that the provider is on that mast. Three have a checker on their website.
Frizzle Yes, that’s the issue with dead data zones. The only option you would have would to have internet cables personally installed to your house. But if you have £50,000 spare then do so 😂
Well thanks, never heard someone compliment my voice before 😅 but seriously you can go on Threes website and check your signal strength via your postcode if you like. Mine is listed as “Very Good’ service
Is it truly unlimited? thinking of getting it but just wondering if I'm downloading games on steam and playing I'll be using so much data that they will just throttle speeds.
The plan I have with Three has unlimited data so yes. I can never run out. I’m sure there is an arbitrary limit out there of thousands of GBs but I sincerely doubt anyone would hit it. I download lots of games and I stream games from PS now which sucks up bandwidth like hell. But I’ve never had any issues. And three have never appeared to throttle speeds. I’ve had downloads, RUclips and streams running at once and it handles it well. Of course that could depend on where you live and your provider. But certainly this plan I’m on is unlimited.
Well now this could help, and thank you for looking at the model. I to am is a streamer, (grammar) and suffer from poor not advertised speeds from BT. Download says 14ish steam download says 2.0 mmmm upload 1mbps There are three versions of the product, now does it matter which one to choose? Many thanks.
Steam shows megaBYTES per second whereas download tests show megabits. 8Mb = 1MB Mb = megabit. MB = megabyte. 2MB/s would be 16Mb/s ☺️ hope I'm not being condescending or rude!
@@WingingIt I think he's saying he's not getting the advertised speeds in steam from BT when he's getting 14ish on speed tests and 2 on steam. Steam by default shows megabytes per second rather than megabits on downloads so it can be misleading and the only difference is the capitalisation of the b. I'm really interested in getting this. How's gaming on a 4G connection? My student house had 120Mb/s but due to the lockdown I'm back in the middle of nowhere with 2Mb/s download and 0.2Mb/s upload. I don't know if 4G will even be great in this area but I've looked at "smarty" which use the 3 network and they have £20 per month for unlimited data. Or £15 for 100GB. You get back in money what you don't use at the end of each month if you go with one of these deals. Also monthly rolling contracts and you can cancel at any time. Sounds way too good to be true but I cannot work from home or game with this internet speed so I'm going to give it a go! ☺️ Thanks for the video it was my decider

@@itwaskev same situation as you. Same signal. Normally get 25mbps with my 4g router. Havent lagged one time
@@itwaskev smarty do £20 per month unlimited sim. And you are in no contract so you can leave after a month
High five dude ✋🏼
I’ve just moved house to a very rural area & I’m about to get my first Three 4G home router like yours..
I pray I can get similar speeds to what you have 🙏🏼
Great video bud 👍🏼
Good luck man!
Hi... great video!
Any update? Im with EE and get good signal but Three is kinda hit/miss
Hey mate, do you know if this hub was any good for gaming?
You sound like Suppoman... great video
I was thinking that same thing
get an external antenna you might double your download speed
External antennas usually give an extra 50% to 70% improvement, it's a win win situation for these rural folks.
Hi lads, any suggestions for antennae that are reasonably priced but decent?
Helpful, thanks mate.
POTS broadband isnt funny! I wonder do three still sell with these hubs as I can only see them with the small pocket hubs....
Stoked it worked for you anyway, cheers
try on amazon, ~50£ a good one. order a voxi card with the 10£/month. over 8 months with unlimited data now lol I play all games with it. forgot about talk talk quick. 90Mbps download/30upload 35ms
You can Create faster speeds by purchasing an external antenna for the router , it will mean mean placing the antenna outside .
That is the definition of “external”
The problem with mobile broadband still, is the data capping at certain times. I've also noticed with intense work, like live HD video, you are limited to one device that's going to work. As soon as you add live TV in another room, the internet stalls. I suppose so many are using a 4G network, three has to cap it to share it around.
Personally I haven’t experienced any capping. I’m watching HD on youtube. And then steaming games on ps now. So I can’t see any caps personally.
I don’t have much difference, none worth noting anyway
@@WingingIt I see. Thanks for the Quick Reply! :)
I love how accurate this is
But I’m in Scotland
Does Three not operate there?
yeah they do
Go for smarty SIM, they are fully owned by three but lower prices and not locked into a contract (if you buy the router separate)

100MBP's download 50MBPS upload, approx 250m from 4g Cell Tower £15 per month unlimited sim.... Against £50 BT Infinity...
Hmmm makes sense don’t it 😂
I live band in the middle of London and paying crazy amount of money to rent my place but they can't even provide fibre here because the infrastructure is too old and they are not willing to dig up the streets because its uneconomical.
I've been considering switching to wireless broadband for awhile now although I am worried about the consistency of the speed and the latency which kept me away from it.
Check out the playlist on this. I have several videos dedicated to this topic
Thanks, very informative
Great video. I've just ordered the b525, I originally wanted the 325 but there's not many about. I'm just wondering is you were using an ethernet cable to get those sort of download speeds ?
No I wasn’t, just the standard connecting.
Optic500 but 5g has development problems, since its so powerfull, they did testing with animals, and the signal actually killed them
Yeah so i watched this video when it first came out and i am now about 1 year into having full 4g only internet with EE (3 is crap round this way). i got a few sims to see which one was best and now i get a max down of 40mbps but the average is more like 15-20 ish. still better than adsl and much cheaper now we dont pay line rental. adsl i got about 6mbps which is awful.
It’s unlimited. I’ve done way more than that in uploads and downloads
the internet in the UK is disgusting in most places.. at home I have 20Mbps download and 3Mbps upload from talktalk. the promised was 35/9 lol so, got a voxi card (10£ a month) and for 8 months I am using with unlimited data. 25/30ms response and 85/90 Mbps download and 35Mpbs upload with 4G. just get a 4G router or hotspot, and test it.
which carrier did you use on your 4g router?
Well know what I'm ordering tonight
luke winterburn Good luck with it!
Is it worth getting one of these now considering the UK pulling out of the Huawei deal ?
I am moving to an area where Internet connection and package offers are slim. I am going to buy this. I noticed smarty sim is included in the package.
Does this three home broadband still work ok? Any issues with connection downloading or does it still work as well today as when you ordered it months ago?
Still fine
your 44.40 ( Mbps) happiness face, looks Sonic at the yellow stage form.
So, mine arrived yesterday. Connected straight away. I only get 26 meg max download and about 20 meg up. A hell of a lot better than the BT broadband we have. I wish it was a bit faster but I guess where in a bad signal area.
Yes unfortunately where we live can factor largely in the speeds
Chris Murphy Have you checked on Three’s coverage checker for what the signal strength is like in your area?
Ryan Kerr it is a guess, but attaching a cross optic external antenna in the right spot might double your speeds, or even faster than doubling it
With the Three network, your playstatio works on Nat2 o Nat3?
I am in the city 300 metres from a tower. I am buying a 4G/5G outdoor Huawei router and putting it on my roof. I should be able to get over 1, 000 Mbps once 5G is turned on here.
That’s nice
would these routers do the job for casual online gaming?
Yes sure
Do you know how the telephone socket works on the back of your router with a standard telephone? Assuming your router has that functionality. I would replace my current set up with one of these if it had telephone functionality.
I would, but the normal house wifi is what the rest of the house uses. My room is on this 4G wifi only. So as i pay for it I don't want the others using it. so they need the normal wifi in place.
@@WingingIt Pluging a phone into the modem and getting it going might make a good follow up video. Your first video sold me on the idea of having unlimited mobile internet, thanks for that.
Virgin and BT fears mobile broadband!
Maybe BT not virgin !!
Winging It thanks bro. I just bought from one from Vodafone with unlimited for £30 a month... hopefully it’ll help the issue
Broadband provider? You only need a normal sim card nothing special. I did it and now i have 30mbps
Hi, yes it would be the same. It’s all the same signal.
One thing I like about those Huawei 4g routers is that they have an RJ 11 phone socket on the back as well, so if your SIM card comes with unlimited minutes you can plug in an old-fashioned landline phone and use it as a free home phone.
I had it working the first time using my mobile phone's Sim card and it was very responsive!
Nice video mate! Can you plug ethernet cable into it?
Depends on what 4g router you buy
Hey man I want to get this router so thanks for making this vid and I’ve got a question. How did the router hold up for you with time and how has the connectivity been? Does it drop?
Thanks. To answer your question. It is still good, haven’t had any issues as of yet
I know this must be a stupid question but do I have to be a 3 mobile user to use this?
If you were to get it in a deal with three then yes. But if you were to by a router separately, you could get whatever SIM card you want.
Got a question hope you can help me I have the same Router When I put a o.2 sim in Work no problem When I put a giffgaff SIM into device It shows that it has the SIM but does not connect a network What can I do
Not sure, it might just be the sim card.

Can’t see why not. There’s no separate switch. Just the mains power so it would come on and off at will.
is this working on lycamobile network or only on three ??
Does it have a limit

Not sure tbh, they must have a stats or included table for each version so you can compare them?
Steam shows megaBYTES per second whereas download tests show megabits. 8Mb = 1MB Mb = megabit. MB = megabyte.
2MB/s would be 16Mb/s ☺️ hope I'm not being condescending or rude!
ryan curran I’m sure it’s an easy thing to misshear it get wrong
@@WingingIt I think he's saying he's not getting the advertised speeds in steam from BT when he's getting 14ish on speed tests and 2 on steam. Steam by default shows megabytes per second rather than megabits on downloads so it can be misleading and the only difference is the capitalisation of the b.
I'm really interested in getting this. How's gaming on a 4G connection? My student house had 120Mb/s but due to the lockdown I'm back in the middle of nowhere with 2Mb/s download and 0.2Mb/s upload.
