Thanks Stephen for this very helpful video on OBS! I pasted the logs URL into the OBS log analyzer & this is what it returned: *Wrong GPU.* Any recommendation on how to fix it. This is what the problem with my OBS recordings has been: I have one external monitor with the same resolution as the computer to which it is connected. My OBS recordings were fine. I never noticed any _lags or frozen frames._ But then I bought a second 4K UHD monitor & connected it to the same computer using a _USB-A to HDMI adapter._ Since then, my OBS recordings have had *frozen frames* in which the video turns into still images. @@danieldengL4R I've never encountered this problem before nor have I heard of it. However, it sounds similar to a problem I used to have. I'm sorry if I can't help much. I'm only speaking from experience and don't really know much but I will try my best to help you. The problem I used to have sounds very similar to yours, where I used the wrong GPU without my knowledge. Once I changed my encoder to the right GPU, it was still very laggy and a bunch of frozen frames until I ran OBS as an administrator and set it to High Performance in the Graphics Settings. I basically made sure OBS was running and using my GPU and I made sure OBS was using as much of my GPU as it needed. I hope this helps.
@@justluffy977 I only touched what was covered in the video, which was the video quality and the encoder settings, nothing else. I still have some choppiness to my video as can be seen in a video I just now uploaded. So I still need to fix that, but it’s much better than it once was!

0:26 a thing that u can do to make it run as administrator all the time without having to right click and do it yourself, is by going into the properties of obs studio by right clicking and clicking properties. Then you go into compatibility and tick the box that says Run this program as an administrator.
Thank you, that’s great info. To clarify, you right click the shortcut or .exe you use to launch OBS, those are the properties you’re looking for, it’s not a setting in OBS. I’m impulsive and skimmed the instructions of course, took me a couple minutes to realize what I was looking for ;) .

maybe somebody can help me, i have an older mac. Bought this capture hdmi card 4k on amazon for like 40 bucks. I tried it but it shows me a black screen in my obs, it is threw a usb port. It goes from my ps4 to my capture card, to my monitor and my pc. The capture card works because the ps4 gets shows on my monitor but on my obs it shows a black screen. Does anyone know what the issue might be?

I was not on my computer when I got this notification, so i decided to watch the video anyways and check the comments, one comment catched my eye and it was him explaining that it wasn't OBS' fault, rather the app he was using to rewatch his videos. That made me realise, one time when i recored as admin, I had to watch the video on the admin account so I logged in and used window's video player or whatever and it was smooth. But the account im using to record OBS was using media player, which was the reason why it lagged so much in the footage. Basically, turns out, everything was fine, it was just the app that replayed the video was laggy and made me stressed figuring out what I did wrong with OBS for it to suddenly break. So yeah, I found the problem, thanks for replying anyways because if it wasn't for that video, I would've never seen that comment.
please help me. I have used many clipping softwares so i can clip my gameplay since my geforce experience no longer runs. However no matter what software i use the clips look fine in the software when im viewing them but whenever i export it to youtube or google drive or even send it to my friends the clip quality dies and the clip looks so blurry
If you are using an encoder other than x264, like your video card, then use CQP. It is basically like CRF. If you still want to use CBR, set the bit rate to somewhere around 60,000 kbps to 20,000 kbps.

hi for the Encoder settings theres no CRF for me theres ONLY CBR,CQPVBR AND LOSSLESS thats all
select x264 instead of nvidia
