Yeah, that's my question too. He's bot palm muting but he might be doing left hand muting, muting the strings with all of his fingers giving that muted tone.
The left hand is using normal technique. He's plucking on the right hand using the pointer and he's muting close to the bridge with the 3rd finger or with the pinky.
