Oh yeah, welcome again to sweet T&T you're going great with your projects so far, it's very unusual that we get hit by a storm but strange weather paterns due to global warming are mixing things up so be safe and enjoy your stay here
Oh, glad you found us! Yes we’ve been living onboard for 2 years and seeing all kinds of incredible places. Sometimes we get to feel like we’re living on vacation - other times we’re fixing up everything that’s continually breaking down 😂 But it’s always good fun! Hope you’ll join us on the journey
Somehow watched the fix before the disassembly post. I have worked around the world so my ear is tuned to various accents, hell here in Texas have to get people to repeat simple words if their accent is too strong. Worked with one Scotsman who I could not understand if he was drinking. Personally love the accent even if my Cowan Clan got kicked out of Scotland near 200 years ago. I do wonder if the average RUclips person has difficulty with the accent?
Funny enough, very early on we were chatting with another RUclips creator with a very successful channel and they did suggest subtitles could be necessary for us. So far, we appear to be getting away with it. Just need to make sure we don’t fall into the strong accent when we are tired. 😆
@@RedSeas Glad you understand, one Aussie is hard to understand yet his English wife if very easy to understand. Think you know Adam & K. I just love various accents but do wonder about lower subscriber numbers on great channels like yours. Do think that volume of post makes a difference too. Know Itchy Boots post 2 a week as a solo bike rider & has over 1 million subscribers, yet for some reason the Dutch seem to American accent.
Just a few days after I discovered you guys, I was bareboating in Grenada and found your sticker on the umbrella at Mopion Island. Small World. Maybe I'll bump into your trail again sometime.
Didn't see it to the end yet. Hope you have used monel, bronze or at least stainless bolts to fix the keels again. Mild steel with electroplated zink won't last at all and fire plated zink will work for some years, with a real good sealing maybe even really good as well.
Rest easy sir, we used 306 stainless bolts and nuts then seal them in with 4200 (similar to sikaflex). Exactly as the manufacturer required. The idea is you can service the keel bolts with each haul out (usually every year or two) and ensure they are in good condition. Obviously 306 does have risks of micro fractures and oxygen starvation but I guess that’s why there are a million of them lol. The leopard 47 keels are such an interesting design that we get asked about them a lot but other cat owners. 😃
@@RedSeas I don't know the American numbers for stainless. I'm from Germany... 1.4571 would be the right stuff to use with titanium in the alloy. But I believe they gave you the good stuff. A fast search told me 306 is the German 1.4361. This wouldn't be a steel to use on a boat for keelbolts. But they will last anyway for long time. I know there different opinions in the world on Stainless Steel, even when naval architects are discussing this. Or did you mean 316? Anyway... The boat won't sink because of that.
I think the key difference is the terms beaching vs running aground 😂 You can jump back and see the incident in question in a previous episode but essentially we were bouncing on the ground, in swell, with wind on the beam which resulted in the keel bolts ripping thru the fibreglass. You’re right that many cats can be beached however, the leopard design doesn’t allow for this as the keels are “sacrificial” and unable to take the full weight of the boat. Thank goodness they are or we may have seen more significant hull damage as a result. 😅
@@RedSeas Yeah, I guess you were lucky lol. Good to know about the difference in beaching with the keels. I see why you did the copperkote to avoid having as many haulouts to offset that future cost. Enjoying the content and working on catching up to the current episodes. Have a great day!!
Absolutely brilliant idea with the bottles.
Great video, very entertaining.
Well I’m glad you think so…even if I have to convince Brioni of the fact sometimes. 😂 So pleased you enjoyed this weeks episode. Tell your friends 😆
Never seen a keel like that , what great idea !
We love it. Means there is less risk of hull damage when we inevitably do something silly….again 😅
Always so weird seeing boats on the hard! Watching this work is not getting me excited to be back in a boatyard soon 😭
Hang in there buddy. Unlike us, you are a seasoned pro at this now. We continue to stumble our way along 😂
Good episode, enjoy watching you two.
Thanks! We are so pleased to have you join us in the adventure. There is so much more of the story to share. New episode every week 😉

The weather has been very unusual indeed. Thankfully we are tucked up safe for now.
Thanks for watching!
Your video was in my recommendation. I loved the idea that you are travelling using a boat. Keep it up the good work :) Cheers, mate.

@@RedSeas of course I join your journey. I am looking forward seeing content 👍

Haha oh wow that’s awesome! Isn’t it such a beautiful place?? Send us a message on social media (@realredseas) - we’d love to hear about your trip 😀

Sorry yes 316. We never used the American standards until we got to the Caribbean. Far prefer sensible measures. Lol
Man that feels like forever ago
Boat jobs for some reason always take longer than you plan.
Funny you should say that. Next weeks episode is a treat (as our Patreon’s will tell you already)!
I doubt that one grounding caused that damage with a 17 year old boat. You are supposed to be able to beach a catamaran I thought?
