I love this idea Sardeliac! just a "player home" essentially. u made hangman's a viable place 2 build now. ty! on a side note, I know on this series u use no mods, but for u or anyone else who finds this useful: decor mods such as ocd, diy, wdp, really hammer your fps because the decorations aren't "junk" and therefore render from really far away. so, although its tedious, hand placing the junk items for decor is the way to go. cuz it doesn't render or "pop in" 'till ur right on top of it. u will, however, need place anywhere to make them static.
I like OCD a lot for smaller settlements, but then with smaller settlements I'm not placing a lot (and I don't push the limits of the Size bar) so the fps hit is pretty reasonable. (Plus I don't use OCD to place anything that isn't on the top surfaces; I'll hand-place internal shelves, under tables and beds, and like that.) Not having settlers around helps things stay put, too. ;)
Just might be the best player home at hangman's I've ever seen. I don't scrap anything usually in a settlement unless I have too. Very lore friendly build, very believable. Thanks for sharing!
in the last week i watched all your megabuild videos all your technique videos and just caught up on the settlement and survival videos. now im halfway through the morobound world videos.
I've recently subbed to your channel, and gotta say I love the way you do your builds! I over think when I build and your tips/vids really help me understand that and I can now just "go with the flow".keep those vids coming!
really nice work on this, especially your use of the vanilla space. I have cleared HA and still have problems making something logical for the place. I love all of your builds. simple yet super creative and sensible.
every time I go to the glowing sea with power armor I aggro a bunch of radscorpions and they follow me to the crater and kill everyone. 3 or 4 times that has happened. And that's when I decided in my current main play through to just wear a hazmat suit and run like heck.
Nice as always. (WRT the back door, I thought I was really clever in leaving it locked but putting a ladder over the top for easy access from the outside. Since it had to be glitched in I thought enemies couldn't path up it, but three chasing super mutants proved me wrong - 'how to get your settlement attacked without even having settlers present'. ) Love the detail you put into this, surprisingly cozy for a base. Thanks for the conduit-pillar trick at 15.00, don't think I knew that one.
Thank you! Yeah, enemies'll path a lot better than regular NPCs do sometimes, which is kinda weird. If you wanna see the conduit thing in action and some uses for it: ruclips.net/video/bqpEoTp1h6I/видео.html
Looking good Sar. What a great place especially for a single person. Do you think you will ever bring settlers here. You wouldn't need many, just a few. That wall looks great, it serves the purpose that such a wall should. Decorating by hand is tedious but when you are done, you have a real sense of accomplishment. At least I do. Great stuff my friend.
Thanks! Nope, no settlers ever for here; it's a depot, so I got like 4 tons of material in that workbench (including almost a thousand Dirty Water) I don't wanna have to worry about defending. Same goes for Sanctuary, Starlight. and JP for sure, with others as I need 'em--Zimonja and Coastal Cottage have been depot'd lately as well. I got lots of settlers everywhere else, though, and almost all of 'em are farming razorgrain. The occasional provisioner visit is enough companionship for these places I think. ;)
Using the (for some) unscrappable hut at Hangman's like that is quite simply inspired!! Re. the caravan-post: Won't you get a ton of mooing Brahmin on top of that build? I hate it, when that happens...
Thanks! It was mostly desperation, though, I gotta admit, with more than a little frustration. And mmmmmaybe. It depends on how low the caravan post dropped when I pulled out the rug. They only seem to pop on the roof when the game doesn't think they can fit under the awning, but I don't know what that measurement is. Honestly, I'd kinda prefer they popped on the roof... would make it easier to get to the vendor that way. :P
Nice and cozy. Though i am afraid she might turn into a crazy cat lady, living in some backalley shack next to DC with just her cat(s) as companionship ;-)
Thanks! And, well, let's see... she's seen her husband murdered, her kid stolen, and she's killed almost a thousand people in the last five months. Pretty sure the cat isn't gonna tip her into "crazy" from there haha ;)
Man, you need to slow down! I'm still catching up with all of your old videos :D Too much good content lol :D All kidding aside, how long did it take to tackle Hangman's Alley? It's on my do to list (with many other settlements) but I'm not sure which one to do next :D Usually it takes me quite some time to finish a settlement. Do you focus on one settlement and then do it all the way or do you build at several locations at the same time? :)
Thanks! And no worries, you got time; none of this stuff is goin anywhere. ;) This build... hm. If I tallied it up start to finish, I'd say maybe 15-20 hours, but definitely not more than 20. Like, the trading post took 20 minutes, the chem lab 15 minutes or so, the "office" about a half hour (mostly fiddling with the stairs), the PA station was like an hour and a half. Goes pretty quick. The latter. I never focus on one settlement start to finish any more. I build on whichever settlement I'm nearest when an idea comes to me. Helps 'em grow more organically and randomly. :)
How did you manage the power armour station under the house? I've been trying to do something similar but I haven't learned all the little tricks with placement yet
I found out later that caravaners will eventually arrive, but in my experience it takes a _long_ time, like "months after I built the caravan post" long time.
What happens in survival mode if you are notified that Nordhagen Beach is under attack and you are stuck in Sanctuary? If you are enemies with BOS you can't use a verti-bird to fly there, so does the game give you enough time to walk all the way over?
As I recall, the time-out for a settlement attack resolution after the notification is 15 game hours (it might be longer), which is more than enough time to leg it across the entire map if you don't stop for anything. Of note: when you fast travel, the game time moves ahead by the amount of time it would have taken to walk there, so fast traveling in this instance doesn't save any actual time--in fact, if you sprint/jog instead of fast traveling, you'd actually get there quicker.
very interesting settlement u done to hangermans alley but only problem i am having that bethesda is not letting go through with a password but everything else is good
Really cozy home. I tried to make my Hangman's people free but then it got picked as Mercer safe house! I even went back though many previous saves. But now I Can't be alone..."you got a giger counter bub?" pretty sure i'm going to shoot him after I finish my RR questing :) :)
That's Great news!!! (Ok, I never thought I'd say that haha) thanks Sar and.... just saw Norespawns review of Ogre's Cabin mod, have you seen it yet? One part made me think of you heehee wink face ;)
2:32 Wow ! What a great tip. 4:08 I have a weird question for you. Do you now the mod that lets the settlers move all around Hangman's alley ? I mean let them move around in the back. 7:52 Nice stacking on the shelves. 11:32 That's a very nice kitchen.Norespawn should get some tips from you about placing FOOD and ITEMS on those booths w/ tables. 13:08 This is a great little place you have built here. I like how you kept the original buildings most people and myself including would have scrapped it. But you didn't that's pretty cool. I bet was a bit difficult to build on and around though.I love this new way you are building style so much that I made you your own personal home on Spectacle Island in my game. If you have access to the Xbox one committee video's you can see it and the one I also made for Loco4pack. Its under Maxwell Von Doogen which is my handle.I love your work I hope you never stop. Have a great day.
Kjell Bjorge I think it's called Settlers Wander or something like that. i know what you mean though, it expands the navmesh so they'll go up stairs and further out etc.
Hangman's Alley Patch (Or the UFO4Patch, which includes that fix) will fix the navmesh at Hangman's. Settler Sandbox Expansion will let all settlers at all settlements "sandbox" better, including NOT feck off in a random direction... Both on the Nexus (if you're a PC user), but SHOULD be on consoles as well (in SOME capacity).
Thank you! And no, I don't know about those kinds of mods, unfortunately; the only one I know is UFO4P but that's not on the PS4. :/ Yeah, davey's always hated decorating. It really doesn't take that much time with practice, though. And really? I'll have to go check that out, if I can find it. :)
Now that is a beautiful build. It looks so cosy and I can see the *huge* amount of effort that has gone into junk decorating. One question: how did the get the cooker (stove)? It certainly isn't on the vanilla all DLC list, unless the consoles content differs (I'm on PS4). I've left most of the original buldings there too and stuck Cait and Deacon there, farming for me but no settlers. Can you imagine how those two get on (not!)? Good tips, I'll have to check if the terminal quick exit is □ or ○. Personally, I rarely use the search function because the green highlight spoils the immersion for me. This is now officially my favourite Fallout 4 build channel. Thanks, dude, keep 'em coming :)
Thank you, and I'll do what I can. ;) In vanilla, the cooker/stove is in Furniture > Miscellaneous (almost positive), wayyy down the list. There's like five different colors of it, I think? It's not interactive or anything, though; it's just a big dumb hunk of metal and glass.
Assuming we are all talking about the stove at 11:07 I gotta agree with "The Art of Blossoming" on this one. Admittedly I haven't unlocked all the Nuka World build items and I've avoided Automatron like it's Preston Garvey..... I'm currently building a kitchen and after glitching an outdoor grill, dispenser, and campfire together to make a decent cook top, that doesn't have rusty piping sticking up in the air, your comment intrigued me. I searched the build tabs and couldn't find them. I then googled the Fallout Wikia and found no mention of colored stoves. I'm 99% certain it's a mod.
I checked again for the coloured cookers, nope. Not vanilla. I've noticed that with my 'Very Hard' character Vin, in which playthrough I had a few mods running for a short time, some things got left behind when I removed the mods (they were messing up hubby's game somehow). The items weren't build pieces but clothing, a ballistic weave military cap when he'd destroyed the Railroad before getting that crafting ability, so the cooker (stove) could be a remnant?
Very strange, since she's not running any settlement mods. Maybe it's part of the Vault 88 DLC? I did finish that one, but I haven't started Automatron and I _just_ started FH last night... and since I lost all my mods and had to redownload them when I deleted the cache, I don't have any idea how it could be left over from another one. Gonna check another character that's never had any mods running and see if they're there. :)
Very odd since I lost all my mods in that system crash and I haven't ever run settlement mods on her. Gonna check on another never-been-modded character and see if they're there. How interesting. (ETA: Nope, they're not there on either of my never-been-moddeds, so it's clearly a mod... but she's only running performance ones, not settlement or item ones. So weird. Welp, I'll stop using that thing then. :)
Thanks, but I stole the idea haha When I saw the shelves hanging over the bar in Shamrock Taphouse I was like huh, never thought about sinking a bookcase before... so when I went back to Hangman's to restock, I was like huh, I wonder if it'd work on the wall. :P
Check out EP16. No settlers = no settlement attack = no need to travel back to the settlement just to prevent his stuff getting stolen from the workbench. It's a depot, linked to the other settlements. Here he stores all the crap to build new settlements i guess. It is a smart move. I must admit i am lazy. Using a mod that changes the script on how settlement attacks are calculated. 100 or more defense = Defense is always successfull. So i just build a bunch of turrets and move on.
Because settlements with zero people never get attacked, and I'm tired of failing settlement defenses and losing stuff. I'll never lose anything from this workbench. ;)
