Personally I think the home owner broke the glass in the door and blamed Al! With cars in the driveway right infront of the door how could have he broke it!
How much was that door? I'd like to help with the cost if needed. Just unbelievable. I hope your video proves you didn't do it. Lazy people could have helped you
I don't understand why people can't even get their stuff out of the way and help a bit. If somebody knocks on my door and do a free lawn makeover, i would do everything to make the life easier for him and would move my stuff out of the way. Thanks for your work Al, you are awesome!!

(Door was already broke you can see it when you pan in). Also helping to capture extra footage to post? Thank you for being so kind by mowing and paying for the door.
Have you ever thought of doing a "where are they now" episode? Revisit previous jobs and see how many yards have been kept up or let down. The work you do is uplifting and it would be great to see your long term success rate.
i was just thinking that too , scrolling down comments hoping that guy got bit of flack for his lack of gratitude, would be great to see it overgrown again etc
It is always interesting how many vehicles are parked out front while you are single handedly fixing their yards.....and no one comes out to move their crap for you. God bless you!
With maybe an exception or two, the only ones that offer are those that are elderly or physically handicapped. But the universe always comes around to make things even.
Awesome yard transformation for FREE, NO citation to pay, and a NEW door for FREE. I would have been embarrassed to ask someone who just saved me a lot of time and citation to pay for a door. You are awesome Al!!
I dont understand why everyone's kinda irritated about the guy mentioning that he broke the door. He did break the door. The resident didn't ask for him to give him free yard maintenance. An expected hazard is that maybe rocks fly and some glass gets broken. He did break the glass on the door. It's unfortunate but still. Plus, the resident even said, eh it's just the glass that needs replacing. I mean, yeah maybe they guy didn't show over the top in your face gratitude for the job well done, but, eh, it is what it is. Doesn't make humans less grateful. Guy probably already has a million other problems and things to worry about.
@@mandat201 im so confused about it as well, regardless of the free lawn care, he still broke something, and he initially offered to pay for the lawn to be done at the start, but either way, he broke something when mowing, so you fix it
Al you are a man of integrity and class ! God will bless you throughout your lifetime for always giving and never expecting anything in return. Sending blessings to you and your family from Houston, Texas.
Love you man..... One thing that really amazes me, is that so many people have broken lawn mowers, but not even one person has ever said.."hey, let me change clothes and I'll come out and give you a hand".....lol Thank you for your generosity
I was thinking this a lot as well. I couldn't imagen not helping a hand or offeringen a drink or something to eat. Like how can you just go back inside and do nothing? Except for the sick/disabled people of course.
I saw that happen only twice in the years Al has been doing this. Nice old vet who had been in his home for 40 years. Showed Al his collections and stuff. It was cool. But take into consideration that most people physically or mentally (like agoraphobia) can't do the work. 😎👍
@@ldqa2737 I spent my entire career working in the Affordable Housing Industry. We often experienced these kinds of reactions from folks we were helping. I will say this; most people are embarrassed that they need help. They’ve grown up being taught that Americans should be able to provide for themselves. So when they find themselves between a rock and a hard place it’s tough to just be open and accepting of other’s help. Staying/going back inside is the least stressful reaction. Now, of course there are always exceptions; but I would give the Residents the benefit of the doubt. After all isn’t the important thing here that human beings are helping each other out and not that proper acknowledgement should be shown by the recipient? Let’s just keep things in the spirit in which it was offered! I’m so very glad of those who offer the help and just wish that our society didn’t leave people behind quite so often.
Well said, whammond. It's about spreading kindness and helping people out. And who knows, it might get them thinking and passing some kindness on to the next guy. Kindness is a reward in itself 😊
Al, reminds me of “No good deed goes unpunished” You are a man of integrity and I just sent you $10 towards the door. Not much but I hope enough do the same to cover your cost. Oh. The transformation was amazing. Well done.
This man still works for people that sometimes don't appreciate or acknowledge his kindness. THAT'S what makes AL a awesome human being. God bless you Al and family.👏👏👏🙏👍
I'd argue its good content to be a good human and those dont have to be mutually exclusive. He finds joy and money and people benefit. Not saying true altruism isnt done with noone watching, but just that he's not inherently selfish for making a profit from giving. Also, isnt everything even true altruism, self serving to a degree?@fartpooboxohyeah8611
@fartpooboxohyeah8611 What a terrible thing to say. I understand the concept of what you're saying. You do a favor for someone and that's all it is...a favor. But when your life has become one continuous favor for so many people it deserves recognition. And if likes bring them a monetary value then so be it. Would you be willing to do the hard work that they do for free and not even want a thank you? You're looking for recognition just by posting your comment. And I'm giving it to you. You're welcome! 😉
going by your profile picture unless you are an imposter of some sort 3 reply’s from all f/ males who also admitted they too giggled- is this evidence ? 🧐
If these people don't appreciate you trust me the neighbors surely do!!! You are such a gentle soul and always handle yourself with grace and class!!! Keep shining... you give us hope in the humanity of just plain ol good people in this world!! From the bottom of my heart.... thank you!!!
what I don't understand is how to express people's gratitude. You moved their house and they act like you didn't do anything. They don't even leave their homes to check out the final result. Americans need to value the simple things in life more. If it were here in Brazil, people would be eternally grateful for your services, they would give you lunch, they would look at everything you did in the smallest detail. congratulations my friend
Honestly, Floridians are not known for being friendly or hospitable..we're a very selfish, overly prideful and narcissistic state unfortunately. Look at our governor, he's exactly that and then some. It's truly sad.
And i would make them sign a waiver..because its there yard thats not maintained..just re: property damage ..just in case..nit that u try to do things just a protection
Al, it's a shame that guy let you buy a new door, even if you did crack it, it was his rock. It's his sloppy yard. You're the one who will blessed. Do what's right and God will balance the books. Love you, and love to all
In fairness to the homeowner if he had $ he could have taken of his lawn himself - to end up with the bill for a new door (they are expensive) it would be more than paying someone to cut his grass.
Another transformation completed Al a job well done bad luck about the door but very generous gesture to replace at your expense very lucky resident but I’m sure you will receive compensation many times over for your work. My days complete - Well done and looking forward to day 6 😊
The thing is, like Al said, probably a rock from the string trimmer. He's a stand up guy, didn't try to get out of it but instead just took care of the issue. I've seen SB do that a couple of times. Same thing, a stand up guy, won't try to shrug off the responsibility...just owns up to it and addresses it without drama. We need more guys like them!
That guy is a renter.. He mentions his landlord. Landlords rocks... Lol But overall.. Al was cordial..things happen and he replaced it. Id rented a home years ago before buying mine and we had to cut the yard...he took care of all the inside...and he supplied the mower!! All I did was put gas in it.
I was totally blown away that you not only did the yards for free but then you replaced the door. I've seen similar things happen around here and the worker/company refuses to fix any damage they do. You're an amazing person Al.
I was more worried about damage to the three nice looking cars, was NOT expecting the door damage. I wouldn't be surprised if this lazy renter comes after him later for dings or chips. I do not miss being a landlord, what a dump this guy let it become.

Yeah, holy crap if someone did all that work for me and I found my door was broken I would be standing in front of that thing so he can't see it so he doesn't friggin replace the door on top of everything. That's just embarrassing.
So so sorry about the door. I know accidents happen but I hate that it happened to you. You’re a good, honest hard working man, Al. Blessings on you, your business and your family. 🙏🏼💕

24:37 I know this is an older video but in case you've never solved the mystery, these are Jadera bugs. They are actually beneficial bugs, they eat seeds of the Chinaberry and Goldenrain trees and are perfectly harmless. They don't hurt the plants nor Humans, in fact they kind of do us a favor by eating seeds that won't fall to the ground to sprout seedling trees!
They looked like assassin beetles to me.. I could be wrong but around here all the assassin beetles are very red like that with dark black heads and abdomens
You know it’s REALLY sad when the dad can’t even come out to clean up the crap out of his own yard!!! That shouldn’t even have been an issue for you to clean up. Thank you soo much for your kindness and generosity!!! May the Good Lord bless you and all you do!!
Exactly. He could have come out for even ten minutes and moved some of the random crap that was all around the house and in the way. You're pure gold Son. The world would be a much better place if there were more folks like you living in it. Love the sexy beast with no shirt on that answered the door🤮
I had a similar experience when I was doing landscaping back in the 90s. I went to a home to plant a single Yew bush, and before I could even get started, I had to shovel about 100 dog bombs out of the lawn. The dog and the kids were running around the whole time. Nobody helped. Nobody talked to me. Nobody acknowledged me, and nobody thanked me. And they didn't even pay me for doing it. But I have too much respect for dogs to let them live like that. Not the dogs fault.

Piece of advice. Contact the local church or other organization and see if they can give you the name of someone who is legitly in need. Just because someone's yard is overgrown, doesnt mean they are in need....Some of them are just ungrateful and lazy.
I have been a single mom for years and would be so grateful if someone came and helped me. And you can be sure I’d be driving down to the nearest Tim Horton’s for drinks and donuts, even if I had to return bottles to the bottle depot to do so.
Hey Al I just had an idea! You know how in some videos people get upset when you mow or cut down a plant that they love and want to keep? What if you asked them at point of contact to put up some tall flags right at that plant so you can see it, know it's there, and trim around it? Sometimes special plants get lost in all the tall growth and you can't see them. Just an idea to help you avoid that issue. If they did a walk through with you and you placed those markers on or near the plants they love it would help out a lot IMO. Love your work. God bless you!
Most of them I see cut down are, hostes, different grass plants almost any out door plant if it gets cut down its good to cut down any way it will come back-up better then ever

Yeah considering there appears to be another door or window boarded up, easy to assume the door glass too was already shattered, can't really see at the beginning if it was already broken
Glass is very weird. Me and my friend were barley tossing bb sized rocks at some paper cups while sitting down. There was a commercial glass door behind me and a few of my friends tiny pebbles bounced off the ground first then ricocheted and hit the glass. The last one that hit the door barley nicked it at the bottom corner and then it started to shatter all the way up the door. It barley got hit we were barley tossing the bb sized rocks sitting down hardley any inertia at all if any

When Al knocks on the door at 1:35 you can see the glass panel is intact initially, although when it's opened and the sun shimmers across the surface there does appear to be some inconsistancy with the reflection. This would suggest that there may have been a pre-existing issue with the structural integrity of the glass. When Al knocks, the sun shimmer warps which should not happen with sound material. When the door opens, the centre of where this warp appears there is a small white mark on the glass, possibly from an impact, but evidently not damaging enough to have caused the integrity to actually fail. Much later one, at around 20:07 when Al is thrashing the weed-infested cobblestone pathing; if you listen carefully there's a quiet sound like something hitting a window. This is right near where the door is, judging from the camera position - in front of the plant-pots that are lined up along the doorstep. Al would not have been able to hear over the noise of the machine, but the camera mic does picks it up given it's closer proximity. Chances are this is where some debris kicked up and hit the glass panel on the door, enough to cause a fracture in the already weakened glass panel. At 39:14 Al knocks on the door again, and the white mark is much more noticable (and larger) than previously. Whether whatever debris that was kicked up hit the exact same spot or not, the impact was clearly enough to cause this pre-existing issue further damage. At 39:35 when the door is being closed after the conversation, the glass panel finally gives way shattering into itself.

Thank you for your generosity
I was thinking this a lot as well. I couldn't imagen not helping a hand or offeringen a drink or something to eat. Like how can you just go back inside and do nothing? Except for the sick/disabled people of course.
Some folks have offered a glass of water. In vid #3 or 4 this week he mentioned that the H. O. had given him muffins and a soda.

Also, isnt everything even true altruism, self serving to a degree?@fartpooboxohyeah8611
@fartpooboxohyeah8611 What a terrible thing to say. I understand the concept of what you're saying. You do a favor for someone and that's all it is...a favor. what I don't understand is how to express people's gratitude.

Agreed, if he wasn't so fuckin lazy and would have mowed his own lawn then it wouldn't have happened in the first place.
Lol
But overall..

I had a similar experience when I was doing landscaping back in the 90s. I went to a home to plant a single Yew bush, and before I could even get started, I had to shovel about 100 dog bombs out of the lawn. The dog and the kids were running around the whole time. Piece of advice. Contact the local church or other organization and see if they can give you the name of someone who is legitly in need. Just because someone's yard is overgrown, doesnt mean they are in need....Some of them are just ungrateful and lazy.
I understand peoples mowers break down but why don't they pick up the junk frpm their yard, don't need a mower to do that, just sayin.

I'm a single dad working 2 jobs and still maintain my home and yard. You either wanna do it or ya don't IMO and a damn door! Nice job Al
YOU ARE AWESOME MY FRIEND! DON’T EVER STOP BEING YOU ! 🙏🙏🙏
Accidents happen don’t beat yourself up over it. Your doing a good deed for this family.I’ve looked forward everyday to see what you have accomplished.
Al, I suspect you didn't do any damage to that door. I have looked at the video several times and could not see where you did anything to that door. I suspect you don't think you were responsible either, so I am impressed that you told him you would replace it for him.
It barley got hit we were barley tossing the bb sized rocks sitting down hardley any inertia at all if any
No good deed goes unpunished. You’re a good man
*I don't think that's what that means but it's close enough.*
It's exactly what it means!
@@garryquiggins8183 *Only if you read sayings in literal sense.*
Brilliant work. I have land here in wales uk I wish I had your mower.
Amen 🙏
I'm just blown away by all this. If someone did that much yard work for me for free then I wouldn't care in the least about the broken door glass. I'd happily pay for that on my own and you'd still be on my Christmas list for life.
If he doesn't have enough money to fix his lawnmower, how could you expect him to have enough for a brand ne door. A stranger comes by saying he will mow your grass for free and then brakes your property.
The comment justifying this action is why people don’t help people anymore! He is a young man and CAN save a few dollars or work another shift, literally, to fix his lawnmower..he chooses not to then wants to play “poor me” because his lazy butt just won’t take care of his own house. I’m sure if he opened that door, a cracked window would be the least of his problems!
@@joshuadickey7221 from the looks of his back yard, I'd say he's just too lazy to fix it (trash all over not put away). He never said he couldn't get a battery, he just never found the right one.....
He is a lazy dude. That yard is a dump
That man’s got a heck of a nerve accepting that door after working so hard and saving him fines. You’re a star, Al!
True, that glass could have been replaced. And who lets their yard get that bad with 3 or 4 New Vehicles in the driveway? so many questions after the man accepted that new door. He didnt seem grateful for a free yard make over either. Oh well, I should shut up.
I want to know how a simple knock on the door resulted in a shattered glass situation. Is it possible that it was already broken and because Al didn't mention it, this guy used him to get a free door.? Just a thought. I watched this entire video, and I didn't see any point in it that showed when it got broken. I love your work Al. I love your big heart. But I have seen too much to believe anything but the old mantra that "no good deed goes unpunished".
Some people are takers and never give
@@gerryayotte7724 When he was using the weed wacker it probably kicked up a rock and broke his door glass. It happened to me a couple of years back to my door and I noticed it after I was using the weed wacker. I could see were the glass had an impacted the glass and wad radiating outwards. The glasss was double pane vacuum sealed and its easier to just replace the door that try to find and replace the correct glass panels. 😒

I loved that you didn’t even hesitate to get him a new door, total professional 😊
hey Al . Hope you were able to get the new door at cost or Chucky was able to help install for free . Not only a free lawn make over but a beautiful new door . True sign of a good heart is when something goes wrong & you are still able to keep a humble spirit . Best . Mark (Toronto) 💙
Do any of these people offer you a cold drink, at least? I love watching your videos, especially, the reveal. You are such a giving person. I wish you all the best life can give.
NUMBER 6 KNOCKED OUT !!!!
Loved how well the pavers cleaned up. It's nice seeing an unruly yard reclaimed and looking sooo GOOD!!
GO AL !!!
WOW!!!!!! you are way too kind!!!!!! That guy didn't appreciate it at all...or he wouldn't have even mentioned the door after ALL you did and money you saved him.....wow.....you are definitely a BLESSING
Good job and quick reaction. YOU are very observant around your surroundings. YOU ARE ONE AMAZING GUY. You did it all by yourself.
A question mark on "bed bugs." They are smaller. (?!) A thumbs up for taking the time to research it for Al! He did a great job, as always!!
Possibly boxelder bugs? Hopefully not kissing bugs…🤷♀️
They are called jadera bugs. They eat the seeds to chinaberry tree and golden rain tree. They are harmless
@@dugangant I guess I was wrong. Deleting my guess
Wow i'm glad i'm not alone... Al is a great guy!!!! there is know take in him its all give. God bless dude.....
So he has a mower, he makes you pay for his door, he has trash all over. He sure looked like he was capable to do for himself. By accepting the offer of free help he deprived someone who was really in need. You have a heart of gold Al.
Nobody forced him to pay for the door, he offered to pay for it first. And rightfully so, you better take responsibility for damaging someone's property
@@ephraimkaravan Not rightfully so. Don't accept free charity then complain when things accidentally happen. The free lawn care (how much would that have cost?) + the inevitable incoming fines from the city would've been more expensive than fixing a door. Beggars can't be choosers.
@@jasras5003 I don't know what third-world country you live in, but there is no such thing as being exempt from liability just because you are performing a service free of charge. Not unless you have a signed document stating clearly that you aren't liable for damages that may be caused. Al broke a door and he took responsibility for it, knowing that he himself is the one who caused the damage. With your logic, I can go around my neighborhood mowing people's lawns and getting away with property damage simply because I am not charging any money for the service. Guess who would win that case in court.
@@jasras5003 well as the homeowner/renter saod if the landlord saw it he would flip out and who knows maybe the landlord would evict them.
@@JosephDawson1986 Oh you mean the same landlord that allowed their renters to make their property look like $hit with impending city fines? Oh ok. Makes total sense.
Al you are amazing. Wanting a free yard repaired after neglect. His reaction says a lot about his character and the type of person he is.
Some people just think others should do things for them no moral compass.
Some people are just pigs. I didn't like that there were late model cars in the driveway; he had the money but just didn't care about his ugly lawn.
I completely agree with the both of you

This is why you're admired by so many AL. You displayed the most amazing act of kindness to receive no real gratitude, instead it ended up costing you, for thinking of other's. It's acts like this that shows that human kindness is still very present, even when the odds low ❤
Dang Al, you did such a great job on this property. You would think the man would have renters insurance to cover stuff like that. Are you sure something you did broke the door? I went back and didn't see where it happened. You saved this dude more than the cost of the door I'm sure on possible fines. Some folks will always bite the hand that feeds them. You are the best. We noticed that, no one comes outside to bring water , lunch.
That’s what we do when someone is doing a job inside or outside.
People are usually embarrassed or suffering in some way. Why would you expect them to go make lunch?
Yeah it’s sad to the think people are that useless- take this door saga for example.
You’ve got a moon over your shoulder

Yes, I at least tip, offer cold drinks, go get pizza and insist they eat some. These people live like this for a reason. They are often not mentally well, which is why they are usually poor.
i cant believe this guy couldnt atleast pay for half the cost...unreal great job

Nice job dude, even though you didn’t get the compliments and appreciation you deserved on this job. Hopefully youtube covers these expenses💯 Great job🙏🏼👍🏽
"Thanks for the free landscaping, now buy me a new door." Real nice.
You are a reputable man, my hat goes off to you.
Great transformation Al. I'm sorry for broken door. Accidents happen but they are always harder to deal with when it's the 'end' of the day and you are tired. I'm glad you were able to replace it the same day.
Well Al, number 6 is in the books, even with a little problem (the door), just an idea, as you're going around a house/structure, take pictures of the house/windows/doors so you have pictorial/video evidence that you didn't bust/break anything, better safe than sorry
