theres a sculpture in Cork, Ireland that commemorates the Native Americans Choctaw tribe for raising funds to help us during the Great Hunger (or the Famine as most people know it by) even though they were experiencing similar hardships with the Trail of Tears at the beginning of the pandemic people here began donating to the Navajo GoFundMe to help them with Covid relief as a thank you for the generosity shown to us, and I think something like €2.5m has been donated from people here in Ireland which i just love that we've been able to say thank you in this way
Oooh I love this! I really hate that you can't have multi use lots 😭 like I've got a pub i built and I want my sims to live above it but they can't and I also have a lot of terraced houses and would love for one to be a shop
There couldn't have been a better day for this, as we watch our electors cast their votes for our next president. Hopefully our country can really start moving towards valuing people from all cultures and walks of life.
Love this idea! You can use the ‘eye of Sulani’ necklaces from Island Living Debug that sims dig up from the sand or dive for for the jewellery in the shop. They actually look surprisingly good in game lol - I’ve used this before for a retail shop and it worked great 😊
P.S I sooooo wish the knitting stuff pack had been expanded a little more after the community vote and included more crafts or like crafting classes as a new event type 😩 this build is making me wish that even more 😂
I really love this build. We are a fan of representation! I believe there are food carts and stands on the gallery as rooms if you wanted to use them? Placing produce and grocery is an absolute pain lol might be a good time saver and you can just credit whoever made it.
Love it! Maybe some picknick benches in front of the store? I can imagine people come from far to buy the art and crafts of this gorgeous and talented family. So before driving back, customers can have a picknick in front. I can imagine talented people from the neighbourhood can sell their products as well, and part of the profit goes to the conservation of the Native American culture. I think it kind of makes sense that it's not only a family store, but a market place where other sims can sell crafts and goods. I imagine them helping other small creators and marginalized people get better exposure for their products since their store already has costumers and a good reputation. They probably have standards sellers have to meet to partner with them like being eco friendly and not a health code violation lol. Some sellers move on and no longer sell at their store but they really love helping others and seeing them grow.

I love this build, and the eco-friendly part is perfect too. I like the concept of a store mixed with a home, and they could probably see artwork as well as crafts. There are silver and gold mines in the southern Rocky Mountains, so there would be lots of trinkets and jewelry. I confess I was looking forward to a pueblo style home! I spent many childhood summers in New Mexico, Colorado, and Arizona and I loved the uniqueness of those buildings and homes. I would argue for stucco on the walls over wood, since trees are scarce in the deserts of the American southwest. Side note, as much as I love let's build the worlds... I was almost disappointed to not have another designmedevon day!
I don’t know why, but I envision the house to have those little bird pictures that come from placing the feathers from debug on the walls. I think the family would collect them when they go out into nature, and they want to collect all of your feathers from the local birds. Maybe they sell crystals in the store, as they are sometimes used in ceremonies (but I think that depends on the tribe- i.e. the Cherokee people).
I don't know if it's part of the culture, but maybe they are growing fruits and veggies for their store in their huge garden? Looking forward to the rest of the build and learning more! 😊

The builds themselves are gorgeous of course, but the music really helps with the atmosphere and helps the build feel "real" in a way. It's also really soothing and I guess we all need a bit of that.
They could sell wood sculptures made on the woodworking table.... and maybe they can sell prepared meals in the convenience store area, like the grandma prepares family recipes that people can come buy and reheat at home
A lot of the collections stuff will come in handy for this, especially the little wooden carvings and the crystals and stones, even maybe the jewelled things from jungle adventure and the fossils and oooh incense! Maybe they make their own incense and candles
Also... some additional ideas for items to sell: wood carvings (horse, rabbit, bear sculptures) and I believe there are the jewelry (necklaces) on little displays already in Island Living debug. Also some assorted clutter items such as shells & vases (Island Living), crystals, rocks, fossils, minerals, feathers in the photo frames (C&D), fish on walls, paintings, hanging tapestries/tribal rugs, canyon photos (Strangerville).. just some ideas ;)

Devon you should use the selling tables from Jungle Adventure indoors because they have the colorful aesthetic but are also functional, so we can actually use the shop.
One of the lots in Strangerville you can make into a motel / hotel similar in vibe to the Bates motel series / Psycho where the family lives in a house above the rooms. It would look kind of dated too. :)
We have stores in my country that are kind of like the gist of this in the tourist village in my country -- vendors usually rent shops near the ports where cruise ships come in to sell wood carvings, knitted bags and purses, souvenir dolls, shot glasses, jewelry and paintings, so maybe that type of stuff can be sold in the arts and craft part of the store
And maybe you can place those vending tables from selvadorada because they have things that would be in a general store and make the lot act like an actual shop when tended

love seeing the representation, Aden! I’ve been thinking that it would be really great to see some other indigenous groups represented outside of the US. I’m in Australia and we have such an important Indigenous history that has faced the same cultural genocide as Native Americans. Also in New Zealand and elsewhere in the Pacific. I don’t know if it’s something you might ever consider creating. Anyway, just thinking out loud~~ love you king!!

it would be nice if you had professional paintings displayed from the windows as well as easels and maybe posters for art workshops. Tiny art stores usually have easels in the front bc they are kind of cash cows lol.

With the outdoor retreat pack sims that have a high herbalism skill can make herbal remedies. Maybe they can sell that in the shop.
You can add crystals and metals to sell since we don't have jewelry to sell on the sims. As well as crafted items :)

Also... some additional ideas for items to sell: wood carvings (horse, rabbit, bear sculptures) and I believe there are the jewelry (necklaces) on little displays already in Island Living debug. Also some assorted clutter items such as shells & vases (Island Living), crystals, rocks, fossils, minerals, feathers in the photo frames (C&D), fish on walls, paintings, hanging tapestries/tribal rugs, canyon photos (Strangerville).. just some ideas ;)

One of the lots in Strangerville you can make into a motel / hotel similar in vibe to the Bates motel series / Psycho where the family lives in a house above the rooms. It would look kind of dated too. :)
We have stores in my country that are kind of like the gist of this in the tourist village in my country -- vendors usually rent shops near the ports where cruise ships come in to sell wood carvings, knitted bags and purses, souvenir dolls, shot glasses, jewelry and paintings, so maybe that type of stuff can be sold in the arts and craft part of the store
And maybe you can place those vending tables from selvadorada because they have things that would be in a general store and make the lot act like an actual shop when tended

I’ve been thinking that it would be really great to see some other indigenous groups represented outside of the US. I’m in Australia and we have such an important Indigenous history that has faced the same cultural genocide as Native Americans. Also in New Zealand and elsewhere in the Pacific. I don’t know if it’s something you might ever consider creating.

it would be nice if you had professional paintings displayed from the windows as well as easels and maybe posters for art workshops. Tiny art stores usually have easels in the front bc they are kind of cash cows lol.
