Hi Matt! I've got an extra bottle of the Elijah Craig C923. If you are interested in purchasing it, just reach out! It's a great bottle and definitely worth the taste! Thomas
@@jasonbauer8609Could you share your laser codes on your bottles. Apparently A23 codes are better than codes starting with A22. Potentially batch inconsistency.
Sipped my newly acquired ECBP 923 while watching this video. I must agree, it is sublime. A capful of distilled water opened up thus gem beautifully following the initial taste, revealing even more, wonderful notes on nose, palate and finish.
ECBP is always a hitter, but that extra almost 2 years in the barrel on C923 must have worked some magic! Though I had to buy it in a bundle, I'm happy I was able to get a bottle of ECBP C923 last week. Now to get another...
When I first opened the C923, I didn’t care for it. Mostly just oak and heat. I tried a taste every day and it actually changed quite a bit each day. Day 2 it was much better, but had a really interesting note I had never picked up on before (on anything). Now it’s been a week, and it’s finally starting to taste like the description from you guys and everyone who is raving about it. I am glad mine came around.
I did not care for C923 at the neck pour. It was a HOT MESS. Spicy cinnamon and ethanol HEAT. I poured it from my Glencairn to a rocks glass to try to mellow it out, and it didn't get any better. I love high proof, but I couldn't get any of the notes. A few days later I tried again. A BIT better, but still overpowering heat, no flavor. I added a splash of water, and BAM! There it was. Viscous, mouthcoating maple, ,brown sugar, toffee, vanilla, anise, sugar cookie, gingerbread cookie, all in an awesom warm hug around my tongue. So, I'll keep trying it neat each time, but a splash of water did the trick for me to open up an amazing whiskey! I have never enjoyed a whiskey more by adding water until now.
I have noticed this on most all bourbons so what I do is pour half the new bottle into an empty bottle so they are half full and let them sit on the shelf for 6 months minimum. I drink from older bottles I did this to 6-12 months ago. 2-3 days may help but try 6-12 months and you will likely be glad to did
Great video, guys. Happy anniversary Kurt and Mrs! Be sure to stock up on some Frey Ranch when you're in AZ. They've got some uncut, and single barrels now.
I’m so happy you guys used the 2022 Gts to compare, because the first sip I took of the C923, I was instantly floored at how close it was to my favorite bourbon I’ve ever tasted to date in the 2022 GTS. And while I would still choose the 2022 GTS, it’s wickedly close. Cheers! Oh and thank you for reassuring my palate!
Wow! Great show and blind. Sooo happy that I snagged 3 ECBP C923s TODAY! ...especially since I love the B520 so much so that I have several backups, and the C923 did even better.
Just snagged a EC C923 and widow Jane decadence yesterday. And I have a backup c923 coming as a belated bday gift from my sister. She got one for both my dad and I in the VA ABC drop last weekend. Can’t wait to crack it open!
If you want a C923, Blackwells Wine and Spirits in California (online) just started offering it, if you're willing to get a package of 4 Elijah Craig bottles. I didn't have the other three anyway, so I ordered it. I already missed the local allocation of C923, so even though it's a little bit overpriced this way, at least I got one.
I was fortunate to get a EG -BP 923 at my Local Store. IT IS FANTASTIC ! I look forward to all your shows. I have looked at all of them now. And are catching All of the live streams. I am looking forward to the livestream next week. Your suggestions so far have been very helpful. Thank You Three for the help.
Trent THANK YOU!!! I have been waiting for someone to do this blind. I wasn’t for sure of the hype for C923 but was thinking if it’s this good could it compete with something from the Antique Collection? Great job as always guys love your videos. 🥃
Hey guys iv been watching for awhile and love the content. Did you know Trent that smell actually is responsible for 80-90% of what you perceive as taste! Enjoy your Bourbon
I just got C923 on Saturday while people were walking about empty handed because Stagg Jr, ETL, and EHT sold out. Some went with BT or ER, completely skipping C923. Damn, am I happy they had no idea what they were missing! 😂
Last weekend Virginia pulled a statewide limited availability bottle drop and I was lucky enough to grab two C923’s. It’s a knee-buckler of a pour! Loved seeing it go toe to toe with a BTAC and past BP’s heavies!
congrats on your hunt. curious as to what your store had available. I'm in Nova and no luck on Weller 107 or Stagg. but I hope VA ABC does more of these. feel like it is better opportunity for average drinker.
Definitely one of the better VA ABC drops of recent memory when you consider that every store had at least 100 bottles of allocated whiskey. I live in Richmond so I avoided the city stores and drove north of the city. Got my gf to come along and we were maybe 20th in line. Had Stagg, Old Fitz, Magnus Cigar Blend, Weller 107, ECBP and Toasted, lots of Eagle Rare and cases of Blanton’s and Trace. We picked up the Weller and EC BP there. Found the 2nd EC BP at a store I just randomly popped in on Monday.
Great Video! After watching this video yesterday, I got me a little "snort" of C923. Woke up this morning and my tongue feels a little burnt! Guess I need to add some water and bring down the proof?
This was an awesome blind. I have never met an ECBP I didn't like, although some are definitely better than others. I also love the 2022 GTS, wish I had a bottle of my own.
Good blind review! Hoping to snag the Elijah Craig C923 Saturday. It's monthly "allocated" Saturday here in Alabama ( state controlled liquor biz argghhh) Also, the C923 Larceny will be available.
If you’re going to Arizona (thought I heard you were), see what you can do to get a Frey Ranch barrel strength store pick. I know you’ve reviewed the regular bourbon and Trenton loved it, but I want to see what you think of the barrel strength, I think it’s amazing!
Had the opportunity to A/B these two bourbons this weekend. GTS is very good. Anybody that pays $1000 for it is out of their mind. But it is really good. It has all the flavors you like in something like Eagle Rare, but concentrated. More powerful. This one hugs you. I’d pay $100 for it. I would not pay any higher. ECBP is superior. There’s more going on. More caramel. More integration of flavors. Despite roughly equivalent ABV, EC is much smoother and less ethanol-forward. ECBP > GTS. In my opinion.
Trying to be patient waiting to find a C923 in SoCal, no luck yet. Love to see that unicorn lose to the underdog, always love to see it! Happy pre-anniversary Kurt & the Mrs.!
@@sprinter1553 Thanks for the update, will keep it in mind. There's two Total Wines in my area, no luck there yet and their website is lousy for updates of what is actually on the shelf. I rarely use them as a go to for bourbon, but more for things like liqueurs.
