It’s legislation, judges and DA that make cities unsafe when continuing release of criminals with zero bail. The police gets less funding, so shortage of hires and also morale is low because they know these criminals will get released. Current policies hurt cities and its citizens. 😢

What a shame to the CA government that it cannot protect the people. We were there last Christmas Holiday and it was such a pain to park our rental car in a place where it’s safe from these low life smashers. Everything there is expensive. My heart goes to our family from another state whose car rental were smashed just outside of our cousin’s apartment.
You literally have a 50/50 chance of getting robbed/ carjacked while in Oakland…

The police have ALL of the streets, alleys, highways, and freeways covered with extremely high-resolution police surveillance cameras-that the public is not allowed to have, or even to know about. And all shopping centers, all schools, all sports stadiums and arenas, even beaches, ski lifts in the mountains, hotel lobbies, bars, military bases, airports, maritime ports, onboard ships, onboard planes, etc.
All of which means that it is impossible for anyone to commit any kind of crime and the police and the DA’s office not know about it. IMPOSSIBLE!

Living in Oakland the recent surge in crime and car thief is ruining my first brand new Porsche experience. I hide it in my garage most of the time and when I need to wash the car I'm fully strapped in front of my house.

@@solidstream13I have actually been looking into this and have heard similar things regarding other scenarios (like not stopping cars without license plates for similar stupid reasons). Do you know of any more resources that point to these policies? The law is the law and it should apply equally to everyone.

I love that my car requires you to enter a PIN every single time you want to put the car in drive. So if I were to get carjacked, I'd run from the scene, and laugh as the thieves aren't able to drive. Even if the car was already in Drive, as soon as the door is open or if my weight is off the driver's seat, the car will automatically put itself into Park.

When car thieves can't get the car started, they damage the car beyond repair. That's just law of the streets. If they can't drive it, nobody should.

It really is true, because 41 years ago I saw a car on fire that a car thief had set on fire, because the car had a fuel cutoff valve turn on if the car were ever stolen, and when it did, the engine stopped and the car came to a halt, and the thieves set it on fire. I saw the car with my own eyes.

Opd either is incompetent or they are allowing this to happen.
Most of the problem is with the lawyers in the DA’s offices.
OPD / SPD heard they have been unofficially instructed not to get invloved in such cases. They never respond even you call them. Majority of the time they would say its not an emergency they never show up.
The problem for the police is that they get so many calls that they have to prioritize, and only the most important calls get answered. Sad.

I work on Hegnberger road airport area the most Lawless you call a police no show. Most businesses are closed soon all the hotels in that area will be out of business.

I witnessed a break-in at in&out, I ordered a burger and immediately went back to my car. The car beside me had been hit, they arrived right before me. No cop cars 3pm, straight back home, five minutes away, cops stopped my neighbor for pausing, not stopping at the stop sign, within 5 minutes there were 4 squad cars, 8 officers! They detained him outside his home for 50 minutes. Short staffed? Hmmm 🧐 Me thinks not.
Oakland is doing waaaaayyyy better, economically, than Detroit but still doing on-par if not worse. It just makes you wonder why people pay so much to live in an open-air prison and what have the city done with all of the tax revenue...I am assuming all of the good big government voters/businesses gladly pay their taxes right, RIGHT?
