America is a legendary classic rock band formed in 1970, founded by Dewey Bunnell, Gerry Beckley, and Dan Peek. I guess it could be considered a deep cut. It was my. Favorite song when I got that album. So good!! It does make me sad to think what the three of them could have produced but I’m grateful for what we got.
@@shrink2003 Without a doubt, had Dan stayed with them they would really peaked👍. Imagine Dan with them doing "You Can Do Magic!!"👍.
Its great "as is", don't get me wrong, but Dan could have brought his "high part" into the mix, to add even more "Magic"!

Brought them 3 roses in 76 concert in Madison, Wisconsin and ended up being
brought backstage to meet them.....Dan Peek had just left the band.....met them at their hotel and Gerry bought me a drink at the bar....what a night

Dan Peek was an important part in the band. It's a pity he quit. The harmonies were perfect.
They were but I think the Rock life had gotten to Dan and he was better off moving on.
But the other two always talk very good about him
I agree, very good vocalist and the best guitarist in the group.
Clearly Dan was a gentle soul and the excesses and trappings of fame and fortune eventually crushed him , and drove him to quit finding peace in religion .
Couldn't have played a better America song. One of my all-time favorites never get sick of listening to it

America at their perfection. Was such a fan back then, my little band of three used to do our best to learn and play this by ear and some of their other early songs from Hat Trick and Homecoming. America were such a wonderful band back then, just wish they would have lightened up a bit during these performances😃.

America was the very 1st album I bought as a young teen girl, this sounds absolutely fantastic the acoustic guitars and glorious harmonies! 😍 🤩 I miss guys with long hair with a hint of sideburns, they’re so handsome here! 🎉 WHEW!
I am going to see them in about 3 weeks, but I hear only Dewey is touring. Gerry stopped tour back in July and Dan went to be with the Lord.
admittedly i hadn't heard 3 Roses before this video was posted, now i can't stop listening to it! The Roses instantly became one of all time faves! even started practicing harmonizing with it, for what that's worth lol

My teenage years spanned the late 60s to late 70s. The soundtrack of those years was & is the best music ever!

It was about this time I saw America in Birmingham UK as a 15/16 year old having heard them on radio caroline on a crackly old radio. One of the best concerts I ever went to. America captured a lovely, melodic but slightly melancholic sound which no other band ever equaled in my opinion. Music from a time long gone. Thank you for putting this up. I really enjoyed it.

Oh my, what a wonderful post! One of my favorite "America" tunes. I was a junior in high school when this came out, love it, and the act, to this day. Music that we will never hear again, at least in terms of something new. the 70's were the greatest years for music, and in which to grow up.

America's first album just knocks it out of the park! 'Children' was written by Dewey, but he lets Gerry sing it. Dan wrote 'Donkey Jaw's, but he lets Dewey sing it. You simply never see that. Ball go over fence.Now run bases.

Wow, what a treat it is to see and hear this in such high quality. Saw them play a great show about 15 years later, long after Dan Peek had left. I bet it's somewhat emotional for his family to see him here in high def and so alive.
Hopefully there is a version of Horse with no name and Ventura Highway from this In Concert. Can’t wait to see the documentary on this band that is in the works. America is my all time favorite band !

Is this a good video (and audio), or what? I didn't think that they had that capability back in '73, when I was just a junior in high school. I got to see America live at Villanova, PA in 1975, I think, and Peek was still part of the group. Miss him (RIP), nice to see him on this video. Peace! :)
FOXES!!! Dewey’s voice & those harmonies….Probably 1 of my absolute FAVE songs by them-1 of the 1st albums I memorized back in the days of BIG headphones & childhood solitude, listening to great music while growing up in the early 70’s on a weekend evening….❤❤❤🙏🌞

One of my favorites to play ! Listening to them in the 70's made me get a 12 string. I have a real one now, not the el cheapo I had back then. You have to learn and start somewhere. Seagull S 12 now.

One of my favourite bands of all time ever since I first heard Horse with no name when i was a kid. Got loads of their records. Love everything about them. Those were the times for music late 60s early 70s.
