I just bought 35 acres of clear land in South Carolina, beautiful country area and lots of farming. I would love to do a a vineyard. Thanks for the video.
Before starting an endeavor like this, one should do more research to first know what you are going to sell and how you will access the market. If you make it, they won't just come. You gotta sell it. Vineyards are like swimming pools. A lot of maintenance and they can detract from value for those that don't want one when shopping for a house. With that being said, sometimes just wanting one is justification enough, just so long as one can afford to lose money. Starting smaller to gain experience would be my recommendation for someone contemplating this endeavor.
Hope it does well! Interesting how the perception of owning a little vineyard varies between countries, quite a dream for many Brits - but in Portugal where I have family, there are literally hundreds left abandoned. I miss the early morning starts picking the Touriga grapes - not to mention picnic under the shade of the fig trees.
Thanks for the info. At 1:50, you mentioned south or southwest. That I assume is from north of Europe. So from other places may be different according to the location. Right?
I have a small sub compact tractor that I use all over the place. It's a Kubota B1750 and had a mower deck underneath it. I found out on eBay. Beforehand I was going up and down with a push mower and it took forever!
You haven't included the cost of labour. Unless you attribute no value to your own labour, or unless you have a supply of slaves (the morals of which may be questionable) labour will probably be your highest cost.
here in the U S,we outlawed slavery and a big war followed! THANK goodness the anti slavery peopole won or...WE WOULD have plenty of ( kind of) free help to pick these grapes,,,,of course you would have to give them a place to live .....and feed them.........

Do people rent them?
@@MsAntz1979I would think many owners would be delighted to rent their vineyards - rather than see them become overgrown.
Great video, and great idea
There’s no money in vineyard unless you have hectares
How many hectares? Cause isnt a hectare 2.4 acres? Whats a resonable size?
@@joesfreshaquatics6488 it depends man, you need at least 10 hectares for a vineyard to turn into a profit !
I have 2 acres of unused grass land and i would like to use an acre for grape
It can be......You need to learn everything you can about growing grapes/etc etc......You need a full history of that vineyard........
Why is it always about money? You should be doing it because you are interested and with a passion.
because passion alone doesn't pay the bills
I’d love an update pleaseee?
What yield are you expecting and what price per ton for grapes do you hope for?

He's talking about the direction of the rows for the maximum sunlight.

Hi Fred. That would make a good video so will have to think what to say, but thank you for the suggestion.

Absolutely. I am hoping I can pay in bottles wine!!!

@@leewatkins1610or you can pay people enough for food and rent and convince them they aren't slaves.
@@shayson1357 Shut up. You collectivist are losers. Go start your own business then.
