    You really need to try "Apteekin salmiakki" sold in apothecary's shops everywhere in Finland. It is sold in tiny 15 g red/black/white card board boxes near the cashiers, been produced for 70 years. It is the best purest (least additives) salmiakki there is. Those can also be added into ice cream, liquors etc. I recommend to buy a lot of them if you get a chance!

      Very fancy way to say a pharmacy 😁

    Origin of salmiakki is fascinating. In the oasis of Siwa, in ancient Chem (name of what was later called Egypt), about 4000 years ago, it was a sacred substance. Sal-Ammoniak, Salt of Ammon, one of their gods. A few letters in between were dropped, thus salmiak. Licorice was sold at pharmacies in northern Europe, as a laxative, but people liked it's taste and bought it for that reason. My theory is that it was a pharmacists idea to mix salt of Ammon, with licorice, probably in Copenhagen, or Amsterdam. That pharmacist, or alchemist (from Al-Chem, the Arabic name for Egypt), was probably a freemason, and therefore a fan of ancient Chem, which is a 900 year old tradition for them.
    I love salmiakki, but nowadays I gotta do lower dosage, for bloodpressure's sake.

    There is no salt in "Salty licorice" Main ingredient is ammonium chloride (NH4Cl). Salt is sodium chloride (NaCl) and it is totally different.

    • @Wezqu
      @Wezqu 19 дней назад +7

      Well in chemistry terms Ammonium Chloride is a salt.

    There are 3 different Jaloviina bottles, 1-3 stars. One star is cut the most. Also if you mix all the stars, then you have drink called Star Wars 😁😁 And you can make a shot with that Salmiakki and Irish Cream / Bailey's, it's bit hard to make, you layer them in a shot glass and it's called Granny Slippers

    A glass of cognac/brandy with a cup of coffee is a pretty common thing after dinner. A sip of cognac/brandy is also a traditional heart medicine. If you start mixing your own poisons, there's salmiac powder you can use. You can mix it with other things too. like E.g. with ice cream. And there's liquorice powder too. Couple of relating commercials, which give background info the those products tasted in the video: "Koskenkorva - Vodka from a Village" and "Kyrö Distillery: The Whole Story". Traditional Finnish beer-making in Finnish and tasting in English: "Elämää ja Sous Vide keitoksia Suomi Perinteisen Sahdin valmistus" and "Real Ale Craft Beer Finlandia Sahti Beer Review".

    Finlandia what.....Information ...Finlandia Vodka was first introduced in 1970. The North American Brown-Forman Corporation bought 45% of the brand in 2000 and the rest in 2004. Coca-Cola Hellenic Bottling Company (HBC), the Greek bottler of Coca-Cola, bought the vodka brand in 2023 for $220 million. The Anora Group, owned by the Finnish state, will continue to make the drink exclusively until at least 2035.
    Production of Finlandia Vodka bottles was moved to Estonia in August 2009 after the closing of the Karhula glass factory .SO its not Finlandia anymore Coca Cola Vodka i presume

    The guy had the wrong type of Jaloviina. It comes as 3* Jaloviina or 1* Jaloviina. 3* Jaloviina tastes like bad cognac and 1* Jaloviina tastes like good booze.

    • @Mojova1
      @Mojova1 22 дня назад

      One star Jaloviina is used in kitchens for flambe in many places because it burns more clear than brandy and still gives the food the taste.

    You can make your own salmiakki vodka: You can order Tyrkisk Peber and crush them, mix them with any vodka and put them in the freezer. 👌🏻

    You are the first non-finnish person I've ever seen, who actually likes salmiakki! Almost every Finn love it, but they give it to visitors from abroad - in order to shock them, because we know, they have never tasted anything like it. It's so different - and therefore shocking and strange for them. :) It's kind of a Finnish joke. But you actually like it - so the joke does not work on you :)
