Ok, I get avatar day and the great divide, but the swamp?! Aang’s vision of the flying boar is the only reason they are able to find Toph later, and the skills Aang learns from Huu are great foreshadowing for energy bending, the chakra stuff that guru pathik teaches. It also is the first case of a strange specialized form of bending that paves the way for a bunch of others later. As for the tornado, it’s clear that there is spirit shit going on. Heibai literally was abducting people into a different dimension body and all, and the tornado is what people are mad about? I love this episode, I don’t think it’s filler at all. Saying this is filler is like saying bitter work is filler. It’s just not true.
0:40 it wasnt an actual storm. The swamp was calling out to Aang beacuse it has high spiritual energy. After they verbally decided they are not going into the swamp, it creates the tornado to drag them in, forcing them inside

I don't get why people don't like these episodes. They are easily some of my favorites. Ig some people prefer to see obvious plot progression or whatever, but the episodes where the gaang's just chillin or goofing around are some of the most memorable to me. The great divide has always been one of my favorite episodes (not in the least because I love deserts and canyons and southwest vibes) and I think watching aang alone (besides the guide) on top of the canyon watching over the two tribes is so powerful and foreshadows a lot of the whole 'loneliness in neutrality' themes we see with aang not wanting to kill ozai, other parts of the series, and also in the comics such as fighting with Zuko and a bit Katara in the promise as well as Toph in the rift.
Being boiled in oil wouldn’t do anything to aang as he can just change the temperature of the air around his skin. Like honestly, are the people of that village that stupid?
@@parkernark Well tehnically it was just never stated. Like aang was very much just wearing thin air bender robes in the south pole and im pretty sure when he woke up he didn't even have a shirt on yet he didn't even shiver or comment on the cold.
