Amazing performance, vibe and sound in the sterility of a studio - I got really excited watching this - brilliant - heard you from Jim Moir on Radcliffe and Maconie this morning -pleased to hear you !
I really like the studio version, but there's something off about this performance. Like others have said, it's probably the lack of second guitar. I do like the solo Geordie played at the end of the song.
Am I the only one that can't hear the guitar at all at times? It looks Geordie is playing a lot of fancy chords while he sings, but I can't hear a single one of them 🤷♂
Shut tfu all you haters in the comments section!!! You go do this live with such a small ensemble! Go on....this is absolutely incredible. Kudos Geordie, you are on another f'ing level. Absolutely phenomenal.
Jam section sounds good but even though he's racing through the vocals it really lacks the bite and frantic energy of the studio recording for the first half (sorry). Very cool song though
Wish he had a better band. Piano player and the drummer are incredibly sloppy. He also needs a female in his band For background vocals. Also some Latin flavor would help, especially if he brings horns on the road.
at the risk of sounding like a hater which im not, this honestly didnt sound that great... pretty rough beginning and seemed off at times. most of it worked though!
@@craigmurdock4740 It's a very difficult song to perform, King Crimson chords shit ya knoww, they take some freedom. The drummer is tight, they have fun, I like
this is the fastest ive heard him play this; holy moly

So fitting that he's performing a song from his album "The New Sound" on a channel called "New Sounds"
with the new sound band
Big Zappa influence. This is a good thing.
Zappa influence is always a good thing
FZ’s music will live forever
I thought so too! The lyrics and the premise of the song are very zappa ish
His music is so sweaty
absolutely incredible performance, adore that jam section and the whole thing is recorded amazingly
It’s like if Mario Kart meets 90s era Disney villain music meets Steely Dan
Exactly
With a hint of Santana as well
Lmaooo I thought I was the only one thinking Disney villain music
What a mix 🤌 Disney villain music is such a vibe. Mario Kart as well... amazing blend 😂
actually sooo accurate
holy crap - this is an unbelievably awesome performance, the jam just kept going and going forever.. love it
I always think the live versions of this song are a little empty without a second guitar but still a neat performance.
i dont think second guitarists tend to work out with geordie
@@Liam-yu7lm 😭Actually a banger
nah fuck that, they are absolutely killing it

The expression of the piano player makes me want to laugh😂 Very wonderful and interesting performance!
why does this sound like the best Disney villain song ever?
Fucking insane solo

Can't believe people aren't checking the Steely Dan influence
the guitar solos were greeptastic

Geordie appears to really kill his volume knob when he comes out of the fuzzy solos so think it’s more that than the engineer
He uses a volume pedal so he's in control of that, for better or worse
the fuzz seems to be throttling a bit
It's just the same chords as the piano, locked in with the same timing. If he wasn't playing, it would sound much different

This surpassed Steely Dan for sure. They weren’t as crazy and as climactic as this.

Anyone can tell me the first chord he’s playing, with the fingering?
Excuse me?
Usually just put it in a bend upwards
Cmaj7 on the 7th fret

Does anyone else feel like his inspiration comes from Jesus Christ Superstar...?
I was thinking the same. I sense similar melodies and the singing is often floating around the beat.
Absolutely.
I bet you £100 he was in a production of it at school.

I hear a lot of Divine Comedy in there too for some reason
Nice. Do I hear a Steely Dan influence?
Without a doubt. It's the vocals and keyboards.
A masterpiece in the "song about a guy who's up to no good" genre
I got some of rikki don't lose that number, a bit of aja, and some night by night while listening to the album for sure.

first time I've heard geordie singing live without him sounding absolutely wasted
tf. has the bassist got a flint in his chain?
The new Steely Dan
someone likes steely dan
I hear king crimson vibe
Almost. They need an extra guitar player! Also the engineer here didn't do them any favors I fear.
Steely Dan in there

Did this guy really - i mean REALLY play the piano?
Josh Allen’s hipster brother on the drums
Steely Dan if they were prog.
the verses are so empty, cant hear his guitar or anything..
Jam section sounds good but even though he's racing through the vocals it really lacks the bite and frantic energy of the studio recording for the first half (sorry). Very cool song though
This is a musically great but very soulless performance apart from Geordie.
does anyone else think he looks like a 10 year old
So real. His face looks like a sophisticated tart
Wish he had a better band. Piano player and the drummer are incredibly sloppy. He also needs a female in his band For background vocals. Also some Latin flavor would help, especially if he brings horns on the road.
wow the backing vocals are not good here
It's soundtrack/musical derived. It sounds very dated already.
