Late 1990s to the early 2000s. When I felt carefree joy the last in my life. I was only a little kid but that was the best for me.

Same. Things got really depressing once my childhood best friend moved away.
You can still feel that way as an adult meditation helped me immensely
God, same.
Last time I felt relaxed and happy was before 9/11, when I was in my late 20s. Just me, my husband, and our cat. Then, the world went crazy and I've never been the same since.
@@ladysilverwynde I think we have these landmark moments in our lives when we grow up really quickly. You see I was 15 when 9/11 happened and so I was really shocked by it but then we just carried on being kids and not caring about tomorrow. I was living care free and then Trump and Brexit happened and all of society became really polarised including my self and then all of a sudden nothing was any fun any more. So that felt like click your fingers and instant adulthood. Then I managed to get away travelling abroad and I felt like I was a kid again and I was totally care free and then covid happened which instantly made me a grown up again. I don't know. These things happen and each time they grow over like calluses and we see the world differently to how we did before. You can never get back to the way you were when you viewed the world through a rose tinted lens, but you can control what you do today and tomorrow.
This is what I missed as a child
A certain beautiful loneliness... All things must pass.
As a child of the 70s, this fills me with a nostalgic sadness.
Me too... 😕
There’s a mall near my town that was a lot like this. Back in the 90s and early 2000s it was quite active. It had a bunch of clothing stores, a movie theatre, even a grocery store. Over time, tenants left the store, until soon only the theatre remained. When the pandemic happened, the theatre closed. There’s nothing there now.
The theatre was doing just enough to get by before the pandemic, and I believe had the pandemic not happened, it may have survived until around early last year. Who knows?
i’m so glad you posted today!! it’s my birthday!! yes!! this is amazing!! thank you!!
Happy birthday! :)
Happy late birthday!!! :D
My local mall is finally closing down, all the stores are shutting down. It's sad man. Even as a late 2000s early 2010s kid I experienced a lot of 90's life. My childhood is vanishing. It seems like we're in a completely different reality. It isn't the same earth, I refuse to believe that.
It's like the world did end in 2012, and we've just switched to another reality...
absolutely stunning work. Your videos make me feel at peace and inspire me to keep capturing liminality in all its lonely beauty
0:23 That store is lost to time, but it looks warm and inviting! Love the aesthetic on these videos, it adds some charm and it’s a bit nostalgic too :)
The fun you and a few friends could have in that place. Skates, bikes, rubber balls, blasting music to hear it echo off the bare walls, a projector, such fun and games to be had in an empty space lost to progress and time.
These videos are so amazingly good. Kind of mix of nostalgy and liminal space vibes.
That kiddie ride with the classic Pokémon poster instantly took me back to the '90s.
This fills a void in my soul ahhhh..liminal spaces are so nice :)
All of your videos feel like a trance of comfort. There's always something that feels so old and liminal about them though, sad but comforting. It's nice to look back and see through another's eyes
Wonderful work!
Amazing video and lush tunes!
Man, I got a vhs camera and had this idea a while back but could never get it to work
I love your videos and music, I use them to help me get to sleep often now, thank you for the art that you make and your cats ofc❤
It's so sad..... They are all like this now. Online shopping and new societal norms, and lack of social interaction off of our devices have made them obsolete at this point... We still have 1 mall out of 3 that doesn't look like this in my area. The one they completely demolished. Discovered a cave under it though which is pretty cool.... Then the other one is hanging on by a thread. There's MAYBE 3 or 4 stores left. It basically looks like this one in the video.... Then there's the one closest to me. That one still has all the stores and a full food court. They also added a Dave and busters which has helped to keep it alive. But I'm sure one day they will all be gone... Unless something changes drastically to make people want to socialize in public again or something...
Strange things like this give me a feeling of familiarity and nostalgia. I wasn’t even born in the 2000’s, 90’s, 80’s, or 70’s. Can some explain why? So many thoughts go through my head when looking at videos like this. For example: What was it like to be born and be a teenager then? Did anyone find the joy in these things like I do with different things? I really someone to explain.
@MinecraftInfrastructure I’ll try to explain: it’s not that simple, but the atmosphere of the videos evoke the same sensations as the one’s you’re watching: loneliness, grim, melancholy…those are always associated with emptiness, eeriness and calm. The same scenarios you find in footage like this.
We humans tend to relate spaces, people, pets, etc, etc. with emotions…and many of these footages were already related with the feelings I’ve mentioned earlier, so we only continue to propagate what we feel.
People who remember the things they see in the videos also get the feelings but in a different way because of memories…but for the ones that don’t have those memories, it’s just our guts and the legacy of our siblings, fathers or any stranger that left something of their own memory etched in the comments of this video.
This video is so nostalgic and also a remind me a bit of dreamcore but I like it!
Second!
Turd! 🤪
@razvijets honestly I was first but idc it's fine.
@@Victor-t7x1e ok I edit
The music sounds like a dream
Nolstalgia of en age gone by. The very end of it shown here with the old gumball machines, rides and empty stores.
What world forgets what the world forgot.
"Eerie" is what I would describe almost empty or completely empty malls as.
So, these things do make me sad, but I have been hearing about a movement called the 'strong towns' movement, and some youtube channels talk about it too, like the 'Not Just Bikes' channel. They talk about how, if you make towns so that people can get what they need by walking, instead of driving, then it brings the town to life, like they used to be. I'm seeing this decay of malls everywhere too. I won't be the person who gets involved in the zoning commissions or whatever, to change how they design the towns, but I at least know that somebody somewhere is kind of working on the problem.
Growing up in the early 2010’s I wish I grew up in this time period. I some how still relate the nostalgia and find myself taking liminal space photos every so often. Trying to hold onto those memories that I didn’t have as many of as long as I can.
I love your videos, i can't explain why but this very nostalgic
hi gakhed, i love your videos, keep posting!
I be feelin' nostalgic for stuff I dunno can remember. It's that kinda beautiful loneliness lah... But everything gotta keep movin' on one.
I’m happy that hes making this it gives to much nostalgia
Malls are so void of life these days that seeing something like this where everything is literally empty has more life to it with the memories of your past.
Growing up in the 70s and 80s, one of my favorite childhood memories was going to the mall. Even if I did not buy or get anything, it was fun to go and see all the different shops and the merchandise they had to offer. It really is sad to see the unfortunate yet inevitable demise of the shopping mall in our age of internet commerce.
Wow, this is interesting.
It felt like this when I went to the swap shop, except It looked more creepy. Small groups of people were walking by me leaving the place but once I walked through the entrance it felt as if everything was abandoned in an unnerving way
We build monuments dedicated to human vanity and luxury and when we don't get the same satisfaction from those monuments, we abandon them. Only distant memories and a yearning for the times when our vanity was fulfilled remain.
ah nah gakhed got stuck in the backrooms FREE MY BOY 😭 😭
GAKHED u never disappoint
this feels so liminal, just feels like a distant memory, something you'd see in your dreams, just exploring forever, plus the music and the old vhs camera makes this effect even better, i need this type of camera 😭
Lonely but familiar.
this is so beautiful
I don't care what anyone says, this is an amazing recording! (Also, Canadian Tire, woot-woot!)
This is my mood-board growing up in the 90s! Currently I live in Aroostook County in Maine, and we have a mall up here that is largely abandoned (Though there are some businesses moving in and out of there as of last year)
1:19 They really just slapped pokemon on a random ass car! 😭😭😭
Waiting for the GAKHED / Kane Pixels crossover... 😳
Anytime I pass by Bonnie Doon Mall I can see what used to be a Sears building that’s now a university
but you can still somewhat see the Sears logo on top of the university’s
why did 2 ppl dislike this masterpiece
This is kinda like Sears and K-Mart…god I loved those places a little kid, they were so peak
Man, I wish I’d held on to some of my Canadian Tire Money
This is good stuff
❤
Maybe, one day, we'll feel the same. That should give us hope to keep going
There’s a mall near me that is still bustling and full of life
omg the nostalgia
this is crazy. can’t believe you got it with no one there.
the only relic of my childhood, malls.
How sad
I love liminal spaces
Goodbye, old stores… the cats got to them.
You can tell the mall is old because of the pokemon poster. Also, how did you make your music sound wobbly? How did you get into a shut down mall?
The 2010s really are the peak.
Not for me, sadly. The only good years during that decade were 2010, 14, and 16. The 1990’s and early 2000’s were some of the last great years I experienced.
I have nostalgia for things I can't remember.
Oh my heart 💔
The lights are on, but it's empty inside and no one comes around anymore.
10 seconds in - it's the Backrooms!
Another banger
Do you use an old camera to film these videos?
yes
Do you feel like ur forgotten
Wow…
Backrooms: Gakhed Edition
Anemoiapolis :)
Please someone tell me what camera he uses 😩
This is a purgatory channel with cats
Profound*

Waht is this song called

So sad
Vorrei andare con te in giro a fare queste riprese insieme... come facevamo io e mio fratello da piccoli.
Che nostalgia l'infanzia!
Grazie.
