I’m white and work all over Cleveland. I’m in and out of these houses in East Cleveland all the time. I actually was inside the giant mansion with Christmas lights you showed several times. One day I got robbed at gun point near the Cleveland clinic while working at a building. The cops showed up didn’t care at all or even make a report. They said this goes on over here everyday. I’m sure they could have drove around the corner and caught the guy. I’m in these areas everyday and got comfortable. You have to be aware of your surroundings at all times. Great video!

Hes right, East Cleveland's residents are systemically deprived of an education due to their under funded schools, and we can trace our mental health and addiction crisis back to Reagan policies. Look at OBRA, he cut Federal funding for mental health services basically making them inaccessible for people who need it most, all so he could put more money in the pockets of Military contractors. Kids need better schools, and millions of Americans need access to mental health care. It would save us all money in the long run.

As someone from the west side of Cleveland, great job covering this. It really is a tragedy what the city has become and what their mayor has done/has not done to help the people of East Cleveland. If you pass through the area again I’d be interested in you checking out the Elderwood neighborhood near East Cleveland. A large fire in the 1990s caused the neighborhood to be completely abandoned/burnt and to this day entire streets are abandoned, overgrown, and remnants of the destruction caused by the fires remain. It became a hub for some criminal activity as a result. The city has done nothing over the past 30 years to restore, demolish, or build up Elderwood since the tragedy in the 1990s.

Companies are built to make money. Along the way if they give people jobs that is a sideline benefit. Companies don’t have responsibility to maintain cities income. The story of East Cleveland is the story all over Ohio. Akron laws, five major tire company factories in a matter of three or four years. Cleveland and the area lost hundreds and hundreds of large corporations. It was the cities’s responsibility the counties responsibility the state responsibility to keep taxes and other things under control in order to keep those large corporations. They’re the ones that lost the jobs not the companies. When a company has an opportunity to move to North Carolina or Alabama and get tax rebates and lower labor cost it’s their choice.

It’s a real shame citizens like the knowledgeable man in the gray sweatshirt have so much accurate things to say yet no one listens, along with the man in the SUV and the man from the Czech Republic.

I am from Cleveland, and I live in Cleveland. Not East Cleveland. A suburb far from East Cleveland. I can’t imagine how bad the drug activity is over there. I can’t imagine the fentanyl levels over there either.
East Cleveland is a smaller version of Detroit, corrupted government, blighted and urban decay. Crime infested, and drugs a Midwest horror story. I am a former Ohio native, from Akron. I am a 50 generational kid, I remember Carl Stokes, Cleveland first African- American Mayor, and his brother, Louis Stokes a Congressman . The North- East, Ohio is in a steep decline. A rust bucket, and a loss of jobs. Cleveland Public Educational systems is the worst in the state of Ohio, there a high rate of functional Illiterates there, like most Black large urban cities, I am a Black- American guy saying this too. Either political parties want to address this too. People vote, but they did not have a clear idea how their local and state government operates, but they will casts their votes. The dangerous part being here in America is to not have general knowledge, on how our nation functions period.
@rocanews Oh yeah yeah I think I saw that one, I was meaning vids like this lol. Thats cool ya got Detroit and Flint coming up! I live kinda near Detroit and I think it's trying to bounce back.
Excellent video. You should go see the boarder between the east side of detroit and the old money cities of Grosse Pointe. Some parts have an actual wall that seperates the two.
Commenting again to also say you have my respect for not simply making more of the click bait “poverty porn” that is all too prevalent on YT. Thanks for having some standards and actual journalistic integrity(rare as hell in this era, like bordering on extinct) You also don’t seem fearful of jumping right into the unknown…that’s often how the best journalism happens. No fear and no judgement just let real people talk and record it. Peace and happy holidays.
what the guy said about local elections is 100% facts, president has a hell of alot less power than people tend to think, especially when it comes to your local area. Judges, mayors, sheriffs and the like will have WAY more impact on small towns than whos butts in the oval office. But Lincoln did in fact want to free the slaves, the quote everyone goes to is his political spin because OTHER people didnt want to free the slaves and he was trying to ride a line. His private communications showed he disliked slavery and how he wanted to get rid of it, he just needed enough support. It wasnt until the people in the north started to learn what slavery was actually like where public opinion shifted and went from a 50/50 to a majority from freeing them. During the civil war soldiers would write back to their family about the horrible conditions slaves lived in and many of those accounts got published in the paper which is what brought the Northerners around to it. Just a little history for anyone whos interested.
"...but Redlining ended in the 1960's" ... Yeah, right about the time when final street geographies were established in most cities. Also, THE 1960'S WASN'T THAT LONG AGO! Not just in living memory, but relatively recent. You also neglected to mention that redlining also tendes to involve things like mortgage/loan refusals for people living there so no generational wealth could be established, and the intentional scheme of funding public schools with property taxes, meaning nice new fully equipped schools for the rich and broken down decrepit underfunded UNDERPERFORMING schools for the poor. Redlining was an insidious long-term strategy of disenfranchisement and repression thru institutional racism. Surprising how many towns and cities actually still have those laws on the books somewhere even if they don't enforce them
I stay on the west side and it isn't any better, it's the same stuff happening over here. As neighboring cities we face the same problems due to proximity, the west has always been crazy but in the last few years I've watched so much change in both cities, us as residents need to take a stand to protect our neighborhoods the cops aren't handling it, and as far as the bodies being dumped that's almost a yearly occurance near my house sorry to say and it's sickening

Amazing coverage on this city! (I subscribed) I’ve done a deep dive on East Cleveland for the last 10 years, since urbex dane. Brandon King has been such a villain for the citizens he claims to represent! He’s always had accusations against him. The first one accusation I could find on him was the abandoned house he bought on Elderwood Avenue. It’s a real shame citizens like the knowledgeable man in the gray sweatshirt have so much accurate things to say yet no one listens, along with the man in the SUV and the man from the Czech Republic.
This is good content, in yo face vlog… keep up the great work

That apartment building was condemned because they had no working elevator, no security/locking doors/ no heat/water and then sat issues if I’m not mistaken.
Thank you so much for sharing that (and subscribing). Very helpful context!
The people you talked to were super chill haha
Dude in the grey hoodie is very knowledgeable about what’s really going on..
Nothing was prestigious in EC 20 years ago. I saw it going downhill in the mid 80s.
Damn man, you need a Tommy G collab to blow your channel up. You’re doing gods work my friend keep it up!!!
He commented on our Akron video. Someday!
It says one thing after the color people to buy people started moving in the neighborhood house value went down crime went up some people gotta learn not to act like animals. The same thing happened my neighborhood now everything has been switched around taxes for your house. cost the same as a house payment that’s their to get the poor people out
Art McCoy is a legend!!
Thanks for making this video❤❤❤
And yet America cares more about foreign countries than its own citizens. This place looks scary, and l have been to a lot of northern cities.
Title: "Hoods of Cleveland"
First words: "In East Cleveland"
9:03 those apartments are soon to be demolished. The land back just recently got funds to take it down.
I am from Cleveland, and I live in Cleveland. Not East Cleveland. A suburb far from East Cleveland. I can’t imagine how bad the drug activity is over there. I can’t imagine the fentanyl levels over there either.
I was raised in east cleveland and he is right.
3:07 dude should be Cleveland's mayor , I grew up on the Westside , Denison , Store , old Brooklyn area .
Yep. ❤
Have you guys done any videos on Michigan yet? I feel like theres cases like these among cities here.
We have a video called “asking 100 Michiganders who they are voting for”.
But have two videos from Michigan coming:
1. Detroit
2. Flint
The man grey hoodie is spitting facts!
Thank youuuuuuu I'm sharing!
Commenting again to also say you have my respect for not simply making more of the click bait “poverty porn” that is all too prevalent on YT. Thanks for having some standards and actual journalistic integrity(rare as hell in this era, like bordering on extinct)
You also don’t seem fearful of jumping right into the unknown…that’s often how the best journalism happens. No fear and no judgement just let real people talk and record it. Peace and happy holidays.
Why doesn’t everyone just obey the laws stay off drugs and work, things would clean itself up. Fact no excuses.
13:49 - that's absolutely adorable...
Same thing occurrring in Buffa-hole, NY. FBI raided da Mayas Office, but Maya Brown, who is Brown, resigned to run the OTB at a salary of $330,000.
what the guy said about local elections is 100% facts, president has a hell of alot less power than people tend to think, especially when it comes to your local area.
Barber shop OG see the future
Surprising how many towns and cities actually still have those laws on the books somewhere even if they don't enforce them
Its a minni Detroit
Great video, would like to see longer interviews with the guy at 3:20 and the guy at 6:15. This video while great only seems to scratch the surface.
Great content!
PEACE 7
I stay on the west side and it isn't any better, it's the same stuff happening over here. As neighboring cities we face the same problems due to proximity, the west has always been crazy but in the last few years I've watched so much change in both cities, us as residents need to take a stand to protect our neighborhoods the cops aren't handling it, and as far as the bodies being dumped that's almost a yearly occurance near my house sorry to say and it's sickening
Hey is it possible can you do a city called Toledo Ohio just asking but if not I understand keep up the good work
The guy talking in the barbershop has some theories that don’t hold water.
Ever seen Coming to America?
Art McCoy is Cleveland's own RACEIST and the best RACE BAITER around....always been.
Real as it gets
Dude in the gray hoodie for sure..”I’m educated”if he’s educated as a man of color what presents any other person of color to be educated but themselves?I grew up in Cleveland and was a total hood until I got myself together, stopped doing stupid things and started working hard and made an amazing life for myself. If you stop doing stupid things and work hard and are determined to succeed you will. And I don’t care what color you are.🙏
Like this message if you are from the area and are sick and tired of the fucking potholes on Noble Road right before Euclid Avenue, so ridiculous. They don’t even try. It’s not even a pothole it’s a trench.
Politicians stealing billions from taxpayers money for decades. Dems n rinos.
I can appreciate this video due to showing the ppl what is happening not only there but in a lot of places. Our govt is taking us down day by day.
The people of Cleveland need to vote. That's their most potent tool to make a change for the better. getting a college degree would also be helpful (or a high school diploma as the case may be).
@5:10 i love his dog cute dog.
well done! Thank you
Nice video boss
I'm from out of state made a wrong turn and saw it for myself and scared the hell out of me.
Donnell Rawlings at the beginning spittin facts
Where is BLM ?????? These people NEED help and BLM should show up with Al Sharpton and Ben Crump and offer these poor souls some help.
BLM is just lining their pockets with guilty white liberals money.
A lot of Cleveland isn’t too bad, but I’d never drive through East Cleveland without protection
2:29 Ronald Reagan & amuricas government actually caused all that lol
Give that man in the gray hoodie a prize!!
There are actually very very few of the original millionaires row houses still left standing.
