No, she's not a little 15 y.o. flexible-beyond-belief rubber band, nor is she petite or reed-thin. They're all beautiful. They're all talented. They're all supreme athletes. Don't knock Llomincia's look, body, routine, courage. Remember the flak the Russian gymnast took for being "too tall"and "too old"? Or Gabby Douglas's HAIR, for crying out loud!! It's different from what everyone is used to seeing and no less powerful or talented. Her performance certainly highlights the need for the gymnastic world to rid itself of stubborn reliance on tradition. I congratulate her success and I hope she goes far and shakes up athletics as a ground breaker. She's strong, visibly muscular, and so...what???

She was dogged with rumors and disdain, even with being booed by the crowds, suspicions of drug use rife. And she tested clean time after time. She didn't look like the usual sprinter, that's for sure! Some even called her a "gorilla". Awful. But her records for the 100-and 200-meters class her as the fastest woman in the world and her supremacy, argued as "wind assisted" still stands and haven't been seriously challenged. Unfortunately, there's always room for detractors in athletics, throwing suspicion and howls of "changing the face of" (fill in the sport) and there always will be.
I know nothing of gymnastics but this is amazing and beautiful to me. The expression of pride (and attitude) is a huge part of the entertainment value of sports today but some shameful comments here illustrate a double standard and sociological ignorance. Stop hating people!

I agree that was amazing but the reason no one from Alabama was on the board was because those were the scores for floor and Alabama was on a different apparatus during that rotation.

Mince was my team mate for several years. She is an awesome person. There are two types of gymnasts, Graceful and Powerful. Mince is, and has always been, a power gymnast. This routine is awesome because it reflects her personality and strengths perfectly.

I can watch this over and over and over! This girl is EVERYTHING!!! I get tears in my eyes every time I watch this. She has so much life and so much energy it just makes me explode inside! Not only that, but she puts on a SHOW and she really enjoys herself out there. This girl is the greatest to me!

Love Minci Hall and the way she rocks it every week! She's always got a smile and kills it. She's a crowd favorite for a reason. We've been there to see her perfect 10's on 3 different occasions! What I love most about this girl is she's not afraid to show her faith. Her song for her beam routine "Break Every Chain," and that finger she points heavenward at the end of her routine is very intentional. Great job Minci! God Bless and keep up the fantastic work. While I may not have personally enjoyed the music choice or the dancing itself, I have a LOT of respect for her because she didn't waste a single moment of time. When she wasn't doing a specific move, she was showing off with non-traditional dancing, which is a wonderful change of pace for Gymnastics.
This is what "elite" gymnastics is missing! I am not saying do away with the traditional style rooted in ballet, but the Olympics sure would be more fun if they made room for more modern routines. I love gymnastics, and I would love to see more of this kind. She is obviously having a great time, she lights up that performance! Much more than any robot doing the same thing seen for the past century can. Not that it is their fault. Judges need to pull the stick out of their asses and get with the modern world just a bit.
