I love those $1 lures. I don't have to worry as much if I lose them, because they are dirt cheap, and all of my confidence is in spoons and inline spinners right now. I nailed 5 white bass out of the Maumee river in Ohio one day in about 30 minutes with a silver and white inline...after pulling 5 catfish.
Hooked on the trout. Love it man! Salmon eggs, corn and marshmallows with a weight 2 feet underneath so the bait floats up in the cruising lane. Kills it
I have the same exact rod. Got it 2 years ago on clearance for $15 one of the best Trout rods I have. I paired it wit a Lew’s Mach 2 size 100 reel spooled with 4 lb monofilament line. I have those $1 Walmart in-line spinners and they work but I prefer the Blue Fox Flash in-line spinner kit they sell for $7 They have VMC hooks so the trout stay pinned.
I am a Daiwa man myself. The rod you used is a good one, no doubt. Check out Daiwa's Laguna rods especially when it comes to the spinning set up. It's always $25 -$29 and I have 2 myself. They both are 7ft one piece rods but I put them in the catagory with rods twice the price. That line is something I'm going to look into next. I'm not working much right now but my work is always slow at this time of year. Great video Debo!! I always enjoy going trout fishing. Great for the plate too. Merry Christmas Debo, gotta get back to cervical traction machine. Fixing a messed up neck. 👊
I'm not going to have disc replacement especially if it means I'm going to be disassembled in any form at all. So I've got 2 therapist and trainers that have saved two disc already. Surgeon ain't happy but she don't pull motors up and make points for concerts. Thanks for the reply
I have the abu vigilante with the shimano sienna as my light rod setup for pike, trout, perch and chub here in the UK. Its a great rod and it preformes perfectly for what I need it for. Love the videos keep up the good work.
Hey Debo, another awesome video. FYI, the best way for consistent performance from your spinners is to tie them directly to your line. The swivel and snaps can interfere with the spinning. The line twist is easy to deal with by just letting letting your spinner spin in the air when you reel it in every 3-4 casts. Make sure to leave the line as long as possible as it the line unwinds on its own.
My fishing system for fresh water. ( Side note : I'm fishing creeks and streams in the mountains ) My entire kit rod reel extra spool of line floors. Live bait container extra spool spool leader line. A bag to carry it all in for my backpack. All that weighs in at 12 oz or 340grs. As well, so far the biggest fish I have caught on it. Was right at 6 lb. It gave me no problem !
Debo, Thanks for this video. $500 rods and reels are nice to look at but unrealistic for the average working Joe like me. This is a realistic set up. My fishing buddy uses bargain bin reels and poles from Wal-Mart and catches more fish than I do on any given day. It’s the fisher not the equipment that really catches the fish How are those snaps holding up for you. I was using them mainly on large and small mouth bass. I assumed with a 30lbs rating they would work well and be very stealthy. Not the case for me, stealthy yes not very strong and prone to opening. I still have some and will use them when and if I can get out and do some trout fishing this winter.Tight lines.
DEBO, Typically 6 to 8# line, light power rod with a very soft tip 4 to 12#power, 6’ 8” to 7’ 1” for both spinning and bait casting. The bait caster may at times use 10# test line. I only fish mono. So no reason for them to open. I use a sweep style hook set most often. I am a big VMC fan (tackle and hooks) and I want to like them.
@@tylergable2445 We usually don't have much luck on artificial bait for bluegill. I usually get the red crawlers at Walmart, cut about 1/3 of it and put it on an Aberdeen hook, a small split sinker on the line and a bobber about 12-18 inches up. The bobber is great for the kids watching it get hit.
Started watching your videos awhile back an I decided to subscribe today . really enjoy the trout videos recently but really love the bass videos keep it up .
Planted trout can be caught on anything. Wild trout you need to mimic real prey with your lures. Biggest thing to buy is a net. Even if you’re keeping those things wiggle like crazy and are super slippery. And do like a half hookset. You can’t jack them like bass. Their heads aren’t as bony.
when it comes to dough baits, I would really recommend firebait, they aren't as expensive and have multiple colors in one small container and they last, they also smell a lot more than normal power bait.
I just picked up some of those Bill Lewis Tiny Traps prior to watching this video and hoping that they would cast good from shore and be small enough for trout. Glad to see that you used them and caught a fish with it. Great vid.
I find the inlines are popular with the smaller fish. Check that the wire is straight and may have to try direct tie to the cheapy inline to get it working right.
That nanofil is decent stuff. My father gave me a spool of it for my ultralight rig and I’ve been with it since. Great for casting light crappie jigs and such.
I've been fishing for trout my whole life, and I can say nothing but positive things on your video, another great 1 #feeshingfriend ,, next for you, would be to go east for some winter steelhead, now that's fun!!!!!
I've used the nanofil line and loved it but it just felt weird in a way compared to other braids I was used too. So I'd try it again if it was given to me but idk.
On those dollar inline spinners, I've had the same problems. There inconsistent for sure. The Walmart brand is just thrown together . You might be getting what's advertised as a 1/16 or 1/8 and the hooks will be the as 3/8 or lure body. The smallest Walmart shallow diving crank baits also want float as advertised, they'll sink straight to the bottom.
when fishing for trout, i always use very little lite small tackle stuff like----1/64oz, 1/32oz, 1/16oz, 1/24oz, and 2/32 oz. also like using those fish hawk little hair jigs as well + 8pound test line. some fishing stuff I buy at dicks sporting good stores. awesome video & great fishing information too.
I make sure the wire is straight so the blade can spin, not the whole lure itself. Also after the thing lands in the water, I close the bail and jerk the lure real quick before the retrieve.
I need a setup like what you have for pan fish. Some of our local waters get stocked with trout during the colder months here in Oklahoma so I need to get out and try this as well.
The best budget in-line spinners I've experience with are the Johnson Min-O-Spins. Before all this Covid craziness, you could get them for ~$1.29 for the smaller ones and they'd grab fish when more expensive offerings, like Joe's Flies, wouldn't get anything more than a reaction strike from time to time. I don't know about trout, but anything in the sunfish family would absolutely hammer them, to the point of completely eclipsing live bait fisherman nearby, in low pressure waters. Given their cost and effectiveness, they make for great scouting lures around debris. I say scouting, because if you stumble upon a school, you can easily get a fish every other cast, which takes the fun out of it, IMHO. That being said, the spinners can get hung like the ones in the video, and refuse to spin, now and again. This seems to be one of the primary differences, that I can tell, between economy spinners and high-end spinners, like Mepps. Nice video.
Dude, you were totally whipping that thing to the next century!! I was wondering about those R2F spinners.. almost picked some up. I MISS FISHING!! 😭 Been too busy n now ice is forming more!! Id go target bluegill at this point..
