If Best had not drank and practiced hard he would be beyond comparison. He accomplished everything as a soccer player half drunk on the field, that's how talented he was.

Teardripping documentary, this. How fame and glory can change even the greatest talent of them all. Maybe things would have been different, if he had another citizenship (Northern Ireland, of course, never reached far) - but then again; a humble and shy teenager couldn't resist all the temptations of life. One of the top ten greatest players of all time. And a gentleman, as well. Rest in peace, George Best!
I was lucky enough to see George play [for real] during the late 1960's and early 1970's. He was by far the best player I have ever seen. Simply mesmerizing. Even in a star-studded team that featured the brilliance of Dennis Law, Bobby Charlton and Paddy Crerand, George was on another level. He could do things with the ball that no other player at that time could do. I became a life-long Manchester Utd fan [even though I'm from the Midlands], grew my hair long and modeled myself on George as a young boy at school. I would wear the iconic blood red long-sleeve Utd shirt [gripping the cuffs, Best-style] whenever I played. I became a pacey left-sided winger and once scored 5 goals in a school match. People use the word 'genius' lightly these days - but nobody in football deserves that title more than George Best. He single-handedly revolutionized the game and inspired countless young boys just like me. Thank you George.
Truly the most gifted player to ever exist. Had potential levels beyond messi and ronaldo. He just couldn’t reach that potential to it’s full extent and he will be remembered in all of football for years to come. RIP
That was a completely different game back then. It was a combination of football and rugby. Technology and medicine were krapp back then so no growth hormones and especially absolutely no referee protection and no major big oil empires buying football clubs.

The Manchester United 1960s side, massively underachieved. Boasting three ballon d'Or winners ( Charlton, Law, Best ) . Two world cup winners ( Charlton & Stiles ). A top Scottish international in Crerand. They should have won numerous domestic league titles, FA Cups & at least have made it to at least, three to four European Cup Finals between 1963 to 1969. Well they would’ve won in 1966 if Best didn’t get injured for the semis, and they were robbed in the 1969 semi after Law’s goal was incorrectly disallowed. It was more difficult to win league titles back then when playing in Europe as travel was more difficult and squads were smaller.
