    Been getting a few comments regarding the group size (see 5:32, 6:00) that are mixing up precision, accuracy, and achieving a zero. To hopefully clear that up for anyone scrolling through the comments, I wanted to put out that while the groups are not that good and are pretty large, that does NOT correlate with whether the gun is zeroed/not zeroed.
    To determine a zero, you should be comparing the centroid of each of your groups, then making adjustments off that. Of course, this is easier if you have a tight grouping, but it's not completely necessary either. So long as you're consistently firing each group in the same way, those groups can be used to zero the sight in.

    I found that by staging Ezshoot laser in EMPTY magazine and gently chambering laser allows for extractor to grab cartridge lip as it normally would and seat properly toward back of slide/firing pin face where it should when round goes into battery, this in turn allows for proper extraction when racking slide for laser removal. Just dropping Ezshoot laser into chamber and releasing slide causes cartridge extractor to not properly engage cartridge lip with extractor and forces laser cartridge seat to deep and engage barrel rifling's and stick. Also noticed POA changes some when chambered at different rotational index in chamber. It is what it is but gets you close on paper to keep from blowing through bunch of ammo at range.

    • @Feldmutze
      @Feldmutze  Год назад +5

      Thanks for mentioning that with the empty magazine, I'll try that myself the next time I need to use this boresighter as well.
      I read some other reviews mentioning those differences when chambered at different rotations well. Definitely agree, imo boresighters are just to get you close so you only need to figure out the final adjustments with live ammo.

      That was my first thought. I’ve tried manually putting a round in the pipe and the slide won’t close all the way due to it not engaging the lip. At least on my pistol.

      @@Feldmutze I saw it on another page. I used to put it in a drill press and lightly tighten the chuck. I spent so much time seeing if it was even remotely in straight before turning on and seeing if the laser wobbled. I feel I could of packed up. Drove to the range, sited it in at the range and test shot and got home before I would get it in the drill right 🤣then I saw some dude on another video say roll it on a flat table and I was like.... WOOOOWWWWW. I thought I was smart but here we prove otherwise 🤣

    Interesting video. But don't understand how this works. I have a laser cartridge as well But it only lights up when the trigger is pulled. I sighted in my green dot today with it. I could physically see the red laser cartridge hit my green dot on my target. I just hope it is still accurate with live ammo

    Question, shouldn’t the bore sight laser match the iron sight?

    • @Feldmutze
      @Feldmutze  Год назад

      Yes, assuming the iron sights are properly installed and you're at the range the irons are zeroed for, then the bore sight laser should be pretty close or matching.

    The size of your zero is bigger than a dinner plate at such a short distance, is that the accuracy you are happy with ?

      Not particularly. It's a pretty bad group but it's not actually THAT large, and it does work for zeroing as I mentioned in the pinned comment. I'm practicing handgun accuracy.

    Laser boresighters save alot of ammo trying to zero

    • @Feldmutze
      @Feldmutze  2 года назад +3

      For sure! Thankfully in the case of this RMR it was already relatively close to zero, but there's other cases where the sights are completely off the target paper when it gets really bad with how much ammo you use up zeroing the sights.

    So I recently bought this for my g48 and when I do the red dot in my room and make my adjustments the dot is right on the laser but once I step outside in my backyard or in my long hallway the dot is way off from the laser so should I zero for the longer distances or the shorter ones ? I use this gun for my edc however I do like to go out to the range and train with it so I’m really confused on what I should go by .

    • @Feldmutze
      @Feldmutze  2 года назад +2

      I'm not sure how long/short distance exactly you're referring to but usually I'd say to zero it at the longer range. In my case I zeroed my RMR at 15 meters and I've since re-zeroed it at 25 meters. Closer shots i.e. 7 - 15 meters don't have very much of a shift and I think in the event you need to make a somewhat longer shot it helps a lot to have that zero a bit further out there.

      As in zeroing a laser sight or? If you're referring to a LAM, then yes you can use this boresighter to zero it, you would just align the laser sight with the boresighter's laser, same as you would for a red dot.

      I'm nowhere near the best handgun shooter, but you're missing the point entirely if you're looking at the spread. Zeroing isn't supposed to be an accuracy test, compare the centroid between the shots on the targets at 5:32 and 6:00 and it's obvious it shifted the point of impact as needed.

      @@xenomorph1317it is what it is. Tons of operators aren’t great marksman with handguns either . As long as you can hit a torso sized target 25 yards and in you’re fine. If world war 3 happens or SHTF make sure you have a rifle. If you’re in long distance combat with a handgun you’re going to be fucked anyways lol
      You might already do this but Practice instinctive shooting which is just point and shoot essentially but naturally putting your back plate on target and firing . Understanding your guns bore axis and trajectory. It’s becoming really normalized in the training community . And if you’re target is inside 10 yards , you’re probably going to have to use instinctive point and shoot methods anyways

    • @Feldmutze
      @Feldmutze  Год назад

      I wouldn't say they're completely useless, but they are limited in use, and they're almost always not going to get you exactly zeroed. I had one instance a few years ago of an optic that was hitting completely off-target where a boresighter saved a good bit of ammo during zeroing. In most cases, though, the optic will already be close enough to where you can zero normally.

    You actually admit because you got the bore site for free, “obviously there is going to be a bit of bias”? What kind of review is that? How much bias? Can we trust your review now? Is this bore site garbage and your bias won’t tell us? There shouldn’t be any bias in a review because you got something for free.

    • @Feldmutze
      @Feldmutze  Год назад

      In the case of this (or really any) boresighter, it's pretty simple and you can tell from the video whether it's garbage or not. It performed its task and there were no issues, so it's good from what I can tell. What I was mostly referring to when I said “obviously there is going to be a bit of bias” is that, since I had communication with the company, it could've been cherry picked, so take it with a grain of salt. Also I wanted to differentiate this review because most my reviews are on items I bought myself, whereas this is an exception.
      Ultimately all reviews are biased. In my own experience probably moreso when I/the reviewer actually bought the item, as I don't want to have wasted my own money.
