Gees, the humour is lost on you people! I wasn't being serious. However since it was brought up, not all types of diabetes are inherited, some are caused due to poor diet.
You guys should make the first version because it's much softer (and a little sticky) so it's more like fudge and other one is like chewier truffles (like the Oreo balls video that went viral a few months ago). I made the first one and it was really yummy (u can just eat it by the spoon lol no need to even shape it)
@Tamirys Wenceslau Oh another one. Lot of people are saying that, but from the other comments it seems that Brigadeiro has butter in it. Thank you for the advice though.
You can take a big saucepan and put a stand in it. I preheat it on high flame for 15 minutes with lid closed and use it as an oven to bake cake and cookies. I bake on low flame. It works.
I’ve made these before, and they’re pretty good! They’re easy to make and super addictive. Both of them have a bit of chocolatey bitterness so if you don’t like dark chocolate bars, I’d suggest substituting a small amount of the cocoa powder for (sifted in) icing sugar, and do only a very light dusting of cocoa powder on the outside. If dark chocolate is your thing, stick with the original. Since the recipe is so simple you can experiment with proportions and find your favourite, personally I like it the way it is. The square ones are much softer and less bitter, but because of this they must be eaten straight out of the fridge or they can be quite messy. Still a tasty treat nonetheless, smooth, rich, and chocolatey. 9/10 somewhat of a mess to make and eat. The round ones are more bitter, much firmer... in fact, I’d say they’re almost a tad crumbly, but in a good way. They can be left out a bit longer and cleaner to eat, plus you roll it so there’s no mold or knife to clean. 10/10, easy cleanup, and bitter chocolatey goodness.
@@empresscarrot5417 I wouldn't say they MELT, but I wouldn't trust the square ones to hold their form in any heat. They get pretty gooey and soft, still entirely edible but as I said, quite the mess. The balls held up much better being left out of the fridge.
The are yummy for sure.As for the sugar,is better to ''teach''our taste buds to be satisfied with less sugar and salt ,especially as we get older. Our tastebuds change every 20 days. It's a common misperception that we can't cut off sugar or salt.We see it all the time to patients with high blood pressure that reduce their salt intake. If they eat a homecooked meal with regular salt after 1 month, they find it salty.Esp in US sodium intake with all that processed food is ridiculus and dangerous guys, try to cook ur meals always. As for our sweet tooth, always prefer stevia over sugar.Sugar is a fuel for cancer cells and very inflammatory.
@@RiaNutritionist Stevia isn't much better tbh.. Reducing sugar intake is good, but this is a dessert. Desserts are supposed to be in moderation alrready, so adding sugar isn't much of a problem.

Everyone in the comments calling this cultural appropriation should do some research. Cultural appropriation is a real issue and this isn’t it. This is a chocolate treat. Many cultures have variations of this. You’re reaching. Anyway, thank you for this yummy recipe, Cooking Tree! I’m sorry the comment section is so ridiculous. Going to make these for my family. :)
Why is cultural appropriation a big issue.. i am aware that especially in the US the innerleft Discourse on this topic is very prominent. Yet its utter bs. Implying that a culture comes with certain properties, values, traditions or practies and that those shouldnt transcend into other cultures is in itself a reactionary and conservative argument. Every Individual is Master of his own actions and practices and its in no way progressive to label certain Pracitices as "Property of Culture A" or "Property of Culture B". postmodernist pseudoprog nonsense.
Hi! I welcome a respectful conversation about this. It’s not about ownership; it’s about lack of understanding or respecting the original culture. It’s very contextual. I like this quote: “A deeper understanding of cultural appropriation also refers to a particular power dynamic in which members of a dominant culture take elements from a culture of people who have been systematically oppressed by that dominant group.” I hope this explains my perspective as a person of color! I think a lot of aspects of this topic are taken out of context or blown out of proportion and it can be hard to filter out what’s right from wrong. I usually wouldn’t tell a person of color or a different culture that they’re “wrong” to be offended about something, but in the context of this video, I feel people are really overreacting.
@@gorlgoyle But my point is this: By ascribing a practive or property to i.e. people of colour you are yourself imposing a matrix of expectations on the individuals that find themselves in this group even though they might not consider it part of their identity. The Idea of a culture owning and guarding those certain practices is cultural relativism imo. Max Czollek i.e. gave an interesting twist on this in his book "Desintegriert euch" (desintegrate yourself, i dont know if it has been translated) as he described how it is expected from him as a jew to behave in certain ways or have a certain relationship or opinion to some topics. If Subjects which find themselves subsimized in a group and generalized from the out- or the inside it is best to negate the framing in itself. To reject the notion that certain practices belong to certain cultures. To avoid the "mixture" of Cultural practices is exactly what folkish natonalist, reactionaries and likeminded people are after. A free society with free individuals should oppose such division alltogether. I am sorry, in my own language i have a lot to say on this topic and would be far more convincing. Its tough to discuss it in a foreign language
Primo Schnevi I think you and I agree that culture “mixture” is not something that should be avoided! I think it’s about the individual’s mentality towards other cultures’ rituals/traditions/practices. I think you described your point of view quite well, so don’t apologize! You clearly have done research about this unlike others who blindly try to defend an argument they don’t really understand. Thanks for the link; I’ll check it out and see if I can find a way to translate it. :)
@@Orangecat-np3xy I'm kinda curious tho, since it wasn't exactly explained... Why microwave it? Can't it be heated in a low flame? Why heat it, at all?

I’m actually in the process of preparing this at the moment, and I suggest adding some powdered sugar before you refrigerate it. It has quite a bitter taste otherwise.
Milinium Otaku I’m no expert myself, but in my limited knowledge I would consider adding it either before you added the coco powerder, which might be easier, or after you add the powder. Consider sifting to reduce the chance of lumps forming, or just mix it really good.
I'm making this now! I'll edit when I'm done and taste tested with my family :) Edit: Sooo, one hour in the fridge turned into a week? They were still just fine and easy to make, though, and really good! I did two 4:1 batches, one 3:1 batch, and a 2:1 batch. The 2:1 batch was a solid brick when I pulled it out of the fridge, I actually had to microwave it just to make the balls, but it was still delicious and I would've been much happier with the extra step of kneeding it with hands had it been my only batch. I expected them to be too bitter, but they were actually really good, and I can't wait to make these for my friends and neighbors for Christmas! n_n
I’ve been seeing a lot of comments that this is brigadeiro, and that cooking tree should have credited it. Let me make my point. Firstly, his recipe is really simple, which means that he could have easily thought of it by himself. Secondly, he usually credits recipes from other countries, like with the swedish princess cake, so if he didn’t credit brigadeiro it probably means he didn’t know about it. Thirdly, according to google, a traditional brigadeiro is made using condensed milk, chocolate powder and butter. Cooking tree made it way differently. He only used two ingredients and two only(condensed milk and cocoa powder)and he didn’t cook it. Every time someone points out a difference, you say that brigadeiro can be made in many different ways. Well if it has so many variations, it would be really easy to make something similar to it without knowing right? Fourthly, he clearly said in the title ‘chocolate truffles’ which means he was making chocolate truffles(or maybe he was making a variation of it), not brigadeiro. Thank you for reading. Also, just to make a comparison, there is a dish in Korea called bibimpab where you basically mix rice and other ingredients (which are highly variable) with no cooking. You could add spicy sauce or meat, whatever, and still call it bibimpab. If someone mixed rice with some ingredients and said it was another recipe I would understand because 1. I know that it’s entirely possible for people to not know what bibimpab is, since it’s not widespread outside of Korea, and 2. Because there aren’t any specific ingredients or steps when making bibimpab so it’s easy to accidentally make something similar to it. Some people are just assuming that cooking tree plagiarised then passed it off as his own and insulted koreans, which offended me.
I'm Brazilian and I agreed but the original Brigadeiro recipe its just condensed milk, chocolate powder or cocoa powder and butter if you want. But you can make the way you want by adiding other stuffs, cause nowadays we have a lot a different flavors of brigadeiro. Its just a common sweet over here so people take personal haha
Irk, this is a very VERY common candy in Brazil as well (brigadeiro), even kids can cook it, it's weird to see everyone acting like this is something new XD
To people who don’t have microwave.. 1) put a pot with water to boil 2) put a bowl with holes on top of it 3) inside the bowl put your heat resistant cup with condensed milk inside it. 4) move it around slowly with a spoon until it’s the consistency you want it to be .. That’s what I did and it worked :) Hope it helps y’all 😁
I’m a cool girl, nerd. Nope, not even ALMOST Brigadeiro has less, much less cocoa powder. It’s only 2 tbsp for 390g of condensed milk. Sometimes not even cocoa, some people use chocolate powder. It’s added butter and then cooked, for a long time. Different flavor, different texture!
Who else likes taking the left over condensed milk when your mom bakes? Meee Edit: hehe just waiting for this in the fridge and i’m eating my leftover condensed milk!

Yea its real original to mix condensed milk with cocoa, not even possible that more than one person could have had the same thought. I've never heard of brigadiero but I've certainly heard of condensed milk truffles. Plus brigadiero has butter and this recipe doesn't, therefore they are not the same recipe.
This is just a common brigadeiro. Created during the 60's in Brazil . You can also use powdered milk instead cocoa and put some coconut to create a white version called "beijinho".

Nonetheless I wanted to say thank you because your content has refueled a passion I once had and makes me feel overjoyed but calm and it all began with the elegant simplicity that comes from your videos. Thank you.
Made this just then, important note: for the sake of your own sanity, dust the clingfilm liberally with cocoa powder. Also the first recipe will result a VERY soft truffle they will have the texture of slightly warm caramel(the type that set firm at room temp)
Here in Brazil we call it brigadeiro. It is one of the most traditional deserts we have. Instead of using microwave we cook the condensed milk mixed with chocolate and a litlle bit of butter on, mixing it all the way until it gets the right texture. It doesnt't need to go to the fridge, but you can also do that.
Add a spoon of butter, add less cocoa powder, cook it on the stove on low heat until it's not sticking to the pan. Way more delicious... Add cream milk to lessen the sweetness. It makes a great cake filling/frosting.
Finally something I have the resources to make. Am doing it now! I usually just watch these for the beautiful aesthetic Update: I used extra powder because I like them thicc and they are delicious and chewy.
I made the first version today and they were really good. I would suggest putting them in the freezer for the last 5-10 minutes of the time if it is still really soft . Also you really need to cover everything with cocoa powder because it is very sticky

Do they melt in room temp?
@@empresscarrot5417 I wouldn't say they MELT, but I wouldn't trust the square ones to hold their form in any heat. They get pretty gooey and soft, still entirely edible but as I said, quite the mess. The balls held up much better being left out of the fridge.
@@jadecoolness101 I see. Thank you. I've been wanting to make this and give this as a gift but I'm worried that it will be a mess when it gets to him.

-mix together: repeat until all cocoa powder is fully combined
- put it in a small pan or box thing with plastic wrap (I tried dusting the wrap with cocoa power to make it easier to take out)
-refrigerate for 1 hour
-take out of box pan thingy and put it on to a cocoa powder dusted work surface

Everyone in the comments calling this cultural appropriation should do some research. Cultural appropriation is a real issue and this isn’t it. This is a chocolate treat. Many cultures have variations of this. You’re reaching.
Anyway, thank you for this yummy recipe, Cooking Tree! I’m sorry the comment section is so ridiculous. Going to make these for my family. :)
Why is cultural appropriation a
big issue.. i am aware that especially in the US the innerleft Discourse on this topic is very prominent.
I like this quote: “A deeper understanding of cultural appropriation also refers to a particular power dynamic in which members of a dominant culture take elements from a culture of people who have been systematically oppressed by that dominant group.”
I hope this explains my perspective as a person of color!
@@gorlgoyle ok i checked it out, sadly its not translated. :/ www.hanser-literaturverlage.de/en/buch/disintegrate-yourselves/978-3-446-26027-6/

The 2:1 batch was a solid brick when I pulled it out of the fridge, I actually had to microwave it just to make the balls, but it was still delicious and I would've been much happier with the extra step of kneeding it with hands had it been my only batch. I expected them to be too bitter, but they were actually really good, and I can't wait to make these for my friends and neighbors for Christmas! n_n
You know its good when commenters make like 50 batches

Ece Hasan - are you sure about that?
It's same as "yema candy" here in the Philippines. We only cooked the condense milk until it's lightly brown and adding some crushed peanuts..😊
Sounds good
There's also yema cake which tastes so good
Or rice krispies (pinipig) or kasoy (cashew) for the addition to the yema candy.
Irk, this is a very VERY common candy in Brazil as well (brigadeiro), even kids can cook it, it's weird to see everyone acting like this is something new XD
Or 'munchkins'! But instead of cocoa powder, we use chocolate flavored crackers 😊
To people who don’t have microwave..
1) put a pot with water to boil
2) put a bowl with holes on top of it
3) inside the bowl put your heat resistant cup with condensed milk inside it.
4) move it around slowly with a spoon until it’s the consistency you want it to be ..
That’s what I did and it worked :)
Hope it helps y’all 😁
May I ask why you need a microwave? I am doing this right now and I don’t see her using a microwave?

This is ALMOST a typical dessert of Brazil, the Brigadeiro.
Nope! Brigadeiro has less cocoa. It’s added butter and then cooked.
Vanessa Essa key word almost.
I thought that too lmao
I’m a cool girl, nerd.
Nope, not even ALMOST
Brigadeiro has less, much less cocoa powder. It’s only 2 tbsp for 390g of condensed milk.
Sometimes not even cocoa, some people use chocolate powder.
It’s added butter and then cooked, for a long time.
Different flavor, different texture!

Is not a whatchamacallit, is similar to it

Me: “why is everyone talking about brigaderio”
because this is very similar to a brazilian recipe called "brigadeiro", but this isn't brigadeiro
Cuz it's looks like brigadeiro but don't have butter, and don't goes to the stove
brigaderio is not this, i went to Brazil a few months ago, when everything was normaI and I had brigaderios and Im not gonna spoil. the taste for you though but its so much different than this
@@cosmosbeyond431 Brigadeiro is basically condensed milk and chocolate powder.
Here's a recipe I'll translate for you:
www.receitasnestle.com.br/receitas/brigadeiro
395g condensed milk
2 tablespoons chocolate powder
1 tea cup chocolate sparkles
Mix the condensed milk and chocolate powder while heating in a pan, always mixing without letting it stick to the pan, in low heat, for arround 10 minutes.
After 10 minutes, remove it from the stove, let it cool down, preferably on a plate greased with butter.
When it's cold, make small balls of the mix using your hands and roll the ball on a cup of chocolate sparkles
There, brigadeiro... condensed milk + chocolate powder
Just put butter on it and boom brigadeiro
감사합니다 (I was taught this a long time ago from my old friends grandmother, who would bake and cook with me for church. So if it’s wrong I apologize. I want to be respectful.) Thank you for posting this beautiful video and all other videos. When I was a child I was an avid baker but unfortunately due to social problems, I drew away from something I loved so much.

This is probably the only dessert I can make out of all the sweet videos i've watched

I loved this video. 💖 Here in Brazil we have a recipe that seems with this. We call it "Brigadeiro". We doing in birthdays parties.
I made the first version today and they were really good. I would suggest putting them in the freezer for the last 5-10 minutes of the time if it is still really soft . Also you really need to cover everything with cocoa powder because it is very sticky
Thanks I was panicking if it's okay to put it into the freezer:))
In Brazil we call it brigadeiro and we eat it in birthday parties. There's just a looot less chocolate
The sweetened milk and cocoa is also cooked overheat until thickened, right? I had a friend in middle school who's mother used to make them for us
@@Meowllory13 yeah it could be done in the stove or microwave but if we're just eating it while chilling, watching TV we'll eat it straight out of the pan
