    LOL. Never tried watching paint dry or grass grow but if it's half as amusing as watching you thread that needle I'm game for watching that also. Seriously since I've gotten older I have as much trouble if not more than you are having. I now know how to thread my Esperia, however it might be beneficial to hire a young person to thread it for me. Really enjoyed. Thank you.

    I have found the most success threading the needle to a) always cut new edge, b) pinch the thread very close to the end with your fingers. This will cause the thread to be the most firm and avoid excess buckling before reaching the eye of the needle. The final action is to place the end of the thread against eye and roll the thread forward with your pinched fingers. Admittedly my eyes and dexterity are not what they were in younger days but this method seems to serve me well. To finish the process I keep tweezers so I can grab the thread end and pull it through. This method was described to me 60 years ago by my grandmother who was kind and patient enough to teach me. Thank you for all your videos/tutorials. I learn from every one of them.

    This video made me really glad my Necchi BU Supernova came with a Necchi needle threader. I tried it without it, gave up and tried with the threader and it made it really easy.

    Thank you for this tutorial. I have one of these lovely machines. I have been following the manual diagram usually successfully, but your explanation at each point was very helpful. :). Enjoy the sunshine.

    The thread loops twice in the pig tails just above the needle so the thread is centered... And wetting the other side of the needle makes it easier to get the thread into the hole--in this case, right side since thread from the left.

    This video is so helpful, thank you! My grandmother gave me her necchi supernova and I love it but I know very little about it and have been trying to learn!

      What a blessing in having one of these as a family heirloom!! Hopefully, you have the manual but if not, you can get PDF versions of it online. Manuals are remarkably helpful for any machine.

      @@VintageSewingMachineGarage. I’ve a Belair super zig zag ….turquoise…Japanese “clone” and regarding threading , it’s just like in this machine. Thread guide adjacent to upper tension mechanism is identical , so perhaps my Belair is a strange mix of Nechi and Singer . Tomorrow I’ll try threading it as shown here. Awesome engineering.

    I found one of these today at the thrift store. When I plugged it in at the store it didn’t turn on sadly😞 It’s such a beautiful machine! Wish I knew how to fix it!

    I didn't know where to send this. I helped clean out an old shed today and found an old rotten sewing machine cabinet. I removed the foot pedal with knee bar and all hinges. Would you like them for your stash? If so I'll box up and send your way.

    I have an unrelated question...Iam a avid watcher of your channel, so might you give me some idea..i recently rewired a rheostat knee control on my domestic sewing machine and now when plug it in it just starts running at a high rate of speed..please ..what can i do to fix it..I just Love my Machine and i dont want to give up on it....Thank You!!!

    • @VintageSewingMachineGarage
      @VintageSewingMachineGarage  2 года назад

      I cannot be certain without inspecting your machine, but it could be that the knee control is failing or it could be a failure in the cord. Cords and pedals can and do go bad over time. You might search for a new cord and foot pedal ( use the foot pedal in place of the knee lever if the knee control cannot be repaired.

    I hope this is okay going off topic. Could use your expertise. I would like to ask you if you can tell if a Singer motor is lubricated with grease or oil. I just purchased a 306K and the manual does not mention lubricating the motor. Any hints? Did I miss this in one of your videos? I have been subscribed for a couple of years now. I always eagerly await the next video. Keep them coming.

    • @anthonyiron4635
      @anthonyiron4635 2 года назад +1

      We are always learning. The original singer paper manual does indeed mention lubricating the motor and says to use only Singer Motor Lubricant. But the PDF manual I found on line does not mention lubricating the motor at all. I would have expected the two manuals to be the same. Wrong. Now to locate some Singer motor lubricant.

    • @VintageSewingMachineGarage
      @VintageSewingMachineGarage  Год назад

      Sorry I don't but I've not worked on that specific Necchi. Your model was made in Japan for Necchi and branded as such. You might try searching online for Japanese machines that 'kind of' look like yours as they might share similar thread paths. Yes, some manuals illustrations are not the greatest.
