    RK using the actual gear he puts his name on is something that I really appreciate and is reflected on the quality and choices he makes for his kit. even his iconic tele is the same as one that we can buy off the shelf. it is clear that he work with manufacturers to create kits without all the fluff and only what is needed (and used) by him. this is why i feel there is a certain degree of sincerity in many of his signature products.

    Always in my bag as a backup. This and an FRFR will save your ass if your amp goes tits up. One night, a friend came to a gig and sat in using this and a powered 8" QSC Monitor and KILLED!. That is my grab-and-go rig and my backup. I've gigged with it. Mr. K himself tweaked the tone of the OMG extensively. I'm blown away by the massive sound and the tiny size every time I use it.

    The Boost on his is preamp boost. So it only adds gain. On the regular Fly Rig v2 there is a Pre/Post button so you can select if you want it preamp to get gain or post amp to get an increase in volume

    Very cool. Those Fly Rigs have been on my radar for a couple years now. My metro 24 would be hard to give up as its small light and contains pedals I MUST have (Qtron,phase95,tremolo)). Richie Kotzen endorses some real fine Tele's and gear. Mabey if I was flying more a fly rig would be perfect . LOL. Think the Mooer red truck would be the better choice for a FLY rig for me.

  • @014bhap

    I have one of these in my gear bag with a headrush FRFR108 as a rig backup. I also use that rig at rehearsal and when I'm traveling light. Every working guitar player should have something like this in their bag, IMHO. There are different models of the Flyrig; check them out. They might be a good rig backup solution for you.

    Man that thing sounds good. Reminds me a little bit of some of the cheaper Donner stuff - with the tri-settings. ie.... Od / Delay / Chorus. I think they put out a few different combos of effects, on a little board that looks a lot like this one. Tech 21 is a cool name from several years back. I wonder if there is any connection with the manufacturing. Anyway - great playing. Cool gear.

    I own one of these. It’s incredible how little it weighs. It feels a lot lighter than a standard Boss pedal. I played a Richie Kotzen Tele in a store once. The neck was just too thick for me, and I love fairly thick necks. It had some of the best pickups I’ve ever heard, though.

    During 2021, shortly after purchasing that NU X Plexi Crunch unit you'd advertised here, Rich, I then grabbed up a Zoom B1X-4. Part of me wishes I had instead gone with something like this, even though it is probably in favor of guitar players over bass players. What I got is geared toward bass players, even though I've primarily used it for guitar (and in conjunction with that Plexi Crunch pedal).

    Hey Rich, have you ever tried to get a decent Jerry Garcia Envelope filter tone going? I mean a Warm Tuba like jerry tone. Not the cheesy tone most go for to play shakedown street. It is so much fun to solo over cool jams with. It is a tone people will instantly recognize and like as it is fun to dance to. Actually, works in funky anything doesn't have to be GD. Hope someday I can make you watch a video of me and my brother in a hot tub while our mother does yard work.🤣

    sounds great with a tele or a strat but with humbucker guitars it can be too fat, you kind of have to eq it to make it sound a bit more cutting... you definitely can with all the possibilities in the OMG section as well as in the sansamp section

    • @lorenzissimo1
      @lorenzissimo1 9 месяцев назад

      No, not necessarily... I have the first rk5 version and with superstrat with humbuckers I have a lot of eq margin. After all, Kotzen's Tele also uses the chopper humbucker in the bridge..🤜🤛

    Hi. Great demo! I have one question: Does the fuzz clean up nice for a classic Hendrix/SRV edge of breakup sound? I play jazz and fusion and want a pedal like this with access to some of that style clean and a nice OD lead sound too. Thanks!

  • @BrotherTimothyClark

    It only boosts 12 db which isn't a lot at all. But it is enough to turn you up a bit when your needing to solo. Just a slight volume boost.
    Also, when you ran the compressor, was it cranked by chance?

    • @BrotherTimothyClark
      @BrotherTimothyClark Год назад

      Following up on that, the signal chain is comp or boost, then the omg and the sansamp. So perhaps try a clean sansamp drive at say 9 and then turn the omg on but have it's drive all of the way down. That should help with boost and comp.
      I only own the Fly Rig 5 V1 but, if the Lord allows, I would like to try out v2 of the rk.

    • @RichBischoff
      @RichBischoff  Год назад

      No, the comp was barely on.

    • @BrotherTimothyClark
      @BrotherTimothyClark Год назад

      @@RichBischoff I would love to hear that comp cranked on clean.
      Sounds like a very great unit.
      Also, people talk about how you should be able to have it in stereo, solution is to run direct via XLR and quarter inch direct into the same interface and just balance the two channels. It would be a very quiet and sophisticated way of making a stereo signal. Just a thought.
