I have both the black and the blue versions of this watch and for the price you are really getting good value for money for a 200M Diver watch. The size at 40mm is also perfect for my small size wrist. As you pointed out it's a bit hit and miss with the second hand hitting the markers but I haven't had that problem with my two watches personally so I am lucky. I really enjoy the comfort wearing them but you are absolutely right the bracelet is not good for adjustment and is cheap. I paid just under £50 each for mine in the UK and around 50 Euros in Malta for the black version. I have had both my watches for 5 years now and I have not had any problems with them at all. Great review and thanks for sharing your experience with us.
I was very surprised to find this watch. It has its shortcomings and some really amazing specs. It is a great alternative to the Duro. Your review is exactly on point.
The duro is a very good value for money but the dial looks horrible imo, the indices are to small and there's too much blank space in the dial because of that. They should've made it baton, like the Orient Mako, or made the indices larger and more symmetrical While this model looks amazing and waaay more expensive than its price
@@MybeautifulandamazingPrincessits personal subjectivs default .. i like Duro index.... i like orient too... just i dislike MDV 110 because its a fake dive tool...WITH PUSH PULL CROWN.... BUT I LOVE DURO MDV 106/107 AND MTD 1053 CROWN AND BACK SCREW...200M WR...ITS COOL FOR ME.
Simone, your English is perfect. I have struggled with the Casio Duro's size. I think this watch is the answer. I was just about to do some mods on my duro...bracelet upgrade and a sapphire crystal. Then I saw this review. So informative and a fantastic presentation! This model is not so easy to find in the states, but I found one and grabbed it. I love it! All because of you, your research, and this great review. Grazie molte!
the mtd1053 is not a new watch, and it's an even older design going back to the casio duro mdv101.. i always recommend this one as a great budget diver.. the design is also a homage of some sort of the heuer.. as a constructive criticism, i'd like to see more of the watch in question rather than someone talking directly in a camera ..
It's a terrific watch for the money! I have this as a sea watch for the summer and its a beast. Mine is really good at hitting the marks so it's really a hit or miss. The bracelet is garbage and you can tell from the start, i instantly changed it for a perlon strap. Overall you can't beat a true stainless steel diver with 200m wr and tis build quality at this money. CASIO always delivers.
Well said, you can't complain about the bracelet on such a cheap watch. With quartz it's always hit or miss, it doesn't even depend on the price of the watch... Have fun wearing yours!
Hello neighbour! Well done! I have seen again a review of yours and today i subscribed! It is nice to see young people doing nice honest reviews for our hobby. I am searching for a watch to wear at the beach for my vacation, because i still feel pity to scratch my other dive watches. I found it about 54 € here in Greece, even cheaper than the Duro, and i found it interesting. 40mm is a sweet spot and lightweight also. It's what you want for swimming and playing with the kid at the beach. Maybe i will give it a yry.
Hey my Italian friend, glad to hear you got through the dreaded virus ok. Cheers from here on the beautiful South coast of NSW Australia from another broke (mainly) Casio collector. This is first time I've viewed your channel and I really like your review on this fantastic Casio. I have all six colourways of the awesome Duro and I think I'll be diving in (ouch!) on buying both (I think) colourways of this beauty. Unusual that the second hand isn't hitting the markers though as Casio's are usually pretty good. As with pretty much all budget Casios the steel bracelet is absolute sh** but I'm sure they would look great on a nice NATO or silicone strap. I've hit the bell, keep the vids coming👍
I got it today in Austria for €69,90 and i really like it. Although i was pretty disappointed because it was advertised as 43mm but without the crown it only measures 40. I don't have a problem with the bracelet considering the price but if you do i can recommend fitting it with a rubber or nylon one, both looks very neat!
Was considering getting this to replace my blue duro. But it's a smaller watch closer to my Orient kamasu. Would really like to have it in hand first. Before purchasing
El desalineo de la aguja del segundero se trata única y exclusivamente por error al montar el segundero en el movimiento. Perfectamente puede desmontarse el segundero y colocarlo bien con mucha paciencia.
I have a 7-5/8" wrist, so I decided to go with the "gold" Duro. Besides the design of the Duro, the cost of this MTD-1053D-2AVES (blue) on Amazon is $85.00, while the "gold" Duro was $40 USD on Amazon. I didn't care for the rubber strap on the Duro, so I replaced it with a "vintage Bond" NATO strap. (42mm)
hello Watcharc. thanks for watch review. good review, good watch. I almost bought this watch as 43mm wide. 40 mm not for me. thanks man. another matter is your excuses. It is not fine as you said that dial not aligned. it is not fine with you and its not fine with any price. watch is watch and all standards to be followed/ and QC to be followed. price will be reduced by CASIO based on different parts and materials, but not on this. Be strong on your expectations from life and from watch if its cost you something- money or life. Best regards from Ukraine.
For me, an expensive quartz or cheap quartz, they're all same, because they're quartz. There is no affordable quartz, because every quartz should be affordable, I believe. I bought a quartz watch 10 years ago on the street in Indonesia for fun and it's still running great. It was only $5.
Thank you for this great review! I found it while searching for guidance on resizing the strap. Any tips on how to remove links? I'm tempted to replace it rather than resize, but the bracelet better than some others Casio makes and it looks nice... Fortunately, the second hand ticks accurately for me.
I expect you found something already but on the strap there are links with arrows on. Sliding those, you can remove links. I did it for my OH's watch 3 years ago so there must be some yt video I followed.
You might be ltalian, but your English is better than almost half, the native born, voting population of the US. Nice job, both with your English and the review.
I wasn't familiar with that precise model but with Casio you can never go wrong. It seems to have all the right specs to be a great everyday wearer. Enjoy it. Nice find btw!
This would be a no brainer to buy for me if it didn't say quartz. Makes the dial less clean i.m.o. The Duro doesn't have it, why does this? Odd design choice.
The Duro is way over rated. This watch and the MTD 1050 are awesome. Removing links is easy as hell with this watch. Took me all of five minutes to size the band.
Casio, Lorus, and pulsar from what I understand are all owned by the Seiko group. This explains why the Casio watch is overall a great watch to own all across the spectrum.
Blablabla.... No solar, no sapphire glass, painted aluminium bezel = JUNK watch that will look old and scratched in a few months... And bracelet is pure piece of junk as well. Just a cheap watch that looks cheap and will finish in the bin when battery is dead. There are much better watches, with sapphire, solar / ecodrive, 10atm for not so more money, that will last you, fresh new, for years and years.😉
You have to define what you mean for "not much money". For a lot of enthousiasts even 50 dollars of difference is a lot of money. You have to remember to put everything in perspective. Plus, what's with the aggressive language? If you are so mad when you talk about something so frivolous like watchers, I can't imagine how you behave when dealing with more important topics.

It's an homage to the Breitling Superocean 42 I believe. I have had mine for a while now and it's an amazing watch for the money.

Just found this watch and I am thinking of ordering one. No one talks about it so thanks for this video it was very helpful
Thanks to the fact that you made such a video, it helped me choose a good watch for the start. :D
You're welcome! It's the perfect watch for a beginner
In my country this watch is cheaper than the duro and fits my wrist a lot better.Definitely looking forward buying this
Best VFM casio diver watch , was the ULTIMATE MDV-102...style and practicality!!
This is a great watch, I’ve had it a year and it’s been great. I was lucky, I only paid $60 for it on Amazon.
You're right, it's an amazing piece
Outstanding presentation and very informative 👍
Can't go far wrong with a Casio. You get a lot of bang for bucks.
Absolutely, they're among the best

Hola Simone! Good find looks nice.
I was actually put off by this because of the size but I'm glad it's actually smaller than that. Glad you're better now
Thanks! I was shocked when it came in😂

Why do you like the duro style over this one? I am hoping to buy this or a duro. Thanks. 😊
The Duro is by no means infamous.
I have Duro (for my 8'3/4" wrist no soucy) but i like my mtd 1053 too
OK, how do you remove links on this watch!?
Out of curiosity, what is the width of the midlink of the bracelet? As in the part of the bracelet that connects to the endlink?
I too am curious about this. Did you find out?

A guy on youtube fitted aliexpress sapphire crystal for £11 - Just needs better loom and ceramic bezel upgrade now! 👍👍
I've just ordered one of these, I think it looks a bit like the Breitling Superocean at a fraction of the price

Your opinion on Casio MTP-1384L-1AV? It looks great to me but i need someone that knows watches to tell me is it good quality or not.

Casio owned by Seiko? WOW when did this hapen?
Casio watches are owned by Casio Computer Company Limited
Yeah, Casio is not owned by Seiko. Orient, Pulsar & Lorus are though.
Timex? lol...I don't think so
Have you been sleeping good buddy? I can tell by your eyes that you are not sleeping well.
Everyone agrees this watch killed Rolex submariner and Omega seamaster.
If I get this I'd probably put it on a rubber waffle strap. Cheap bracelets suck
