  • Making my leather watch strap for classical PRIM watch. Probably with no proper tools.
    The design is focused on comfort and simplicity as well, thus the one hole, one button stud (I can't get fatter any more now) and simple one piece strap to wrap my wrist.
    Sure there are many things that should have been done better like stitching, dealing with edges, even cutting and making holes and more and more. It was sort of learning and practicing to me and I wanted one simple and comfortable strap that will last so I made one.
    At the end it may seem a bit tight on my hand but believe me it's not. I've been wearing it daily for few months now and it's very comfortable.
    Hope you enjoy the video and big thanks for waching and commenting.

    Wow! Leather working, wood working, and metal working all in one video. This may be the best video on RUclips.

    Same feeling, I'm fed up with all those 99% overquipped DIYers/makers/wood-metalworkers. DIY is doing things with shoestrings and skill, thats why you deserve more followers. Congrats, sincerely, you rock !

    This was really helpful! Thanks! I like that the top piece is just a flat piece of leather sewed on, rather than having to make loops. Makes a lot of sense, assuming the folding of the leather through the watch "poles" don't wear it out.

    • @eRHonc
      @eRHonc  6 лет назад +1

      Thanks to You too! I am not afraid it would wear out as the leather piece is pretty durable... There is even bigger advantage I see and it is comfort as the strap itself is just one piece leather with no bigger joints/sews and no buckle.. Just a smooth leather around your wrist.

    Absolutely fantastic job, i am a big fan of nice straps on a watch . Thinking about making a couple my self.
    Though as a jeweller i have actually learnt more jewellery making skills from this haha,serious seriously you have a good concept and ability to cut shape methodologically.
    Ever thought of doing jewellery?

    • @eRHonc
      @eRHonc  6 лет назад +1

      Thank you for such kind comment. I have never thought of doing jewellery. I rather make some bigger things including the designing. Thats where I partly think about the process. Woodworking is where my thoughts are going now... Go and make some straps, it's good feeling when you daily use something you made and it works.. Well you probably know that feeling as a jeweller :).

      Thank you, I have access to a lathe and know how to work with it but I decided to make it this way so that it is more "DIY" and to show that you can do things even with simple tools. Sure it would be much easier and faster turning it on a lathe but not my choice this time.
      Thank you for you comment and that you like it.

      You could have used a freaking 4000 dollar cnc and just said "you can also do it with a saw and files" But you do it with 20 dollar worth of tools and materials. There will only be people saying "oh if I were skilled and creative as you" not " I dont have a cnc"
      Subscription is a must now have a nice day! Stay awesome

      @eRHonc  6 лет назад +2

      What tools are you missing? It still could be made with less tools than I used but you will have to have at least some. As you can see I also had to improvise at many points. Use your creativity :).

      Also remember you'd don't have to make your own snap for the and! That part I was like, yeah I'm hella not doing that. lol but the rest looks fairly doable. Just nice razor blade and a sharp point and a needle...

    • @eRHonc
      @eRHonc  6 лет назад

      Exactly, there are some nice button studs available so this step can be easily skipped. All the other tools are just basic tools that almost everyone should easily get.
