THIS IS THE BEST STREET FIGHTER TUTORIAL EVER!!! you made it very entertaining and thought of a really cool way to teach combos. YOU SHOULD GET PAID FOR YOUR EXCELLENT WORK. WELL DONE!
Mei Ousei You're a bit late, that's a 3 year old comment. But cr.lk is 4 frames as well, both cr.lk and cr.mp is a 1f link. Use cr.lp if you're having trouble.
HOSE B I’m late for this too lol, but imo it’s definitely easier with cr.Lp/lk. Although, as soon as u get consistent with both of them, u will start to hit cr.mp after med axe kick pretty easy. (Note to myself: duh, that’s why there’s cr.lp/lk for me to practice lol)
Absolutely epic presentation! Honestly some of the best treatment of video content I have seen on youtube recently. Keep up the good work and show your video editing chops.
@wintez Touche! Something requested that I didn't actually put in the info. It is actually two different fonts, the first is "Angel Tears", and that is a font I used for all the brush stroke text, and also "video by". The other font is Feathergraphy, which I used to type out "lordofultima".
@dannkk Very interesting actually, I was thinking about it inside the box, like why am I gonna EX DP in your grill. But then I was like, wait a minute. that's exactly why. that said, fierce fireball fadc fierce xx mk axe. You can also do hk tatsu fadc cl.mp, same damage and stun as ex srk if you can hit the link. I know it's not the same application but yeah. Thanks for the tip.
@SUPERTED623 He's for people that like high damage output. Akuma is more of a mix-up character, while E. Ryu can kill in 2-3 combos. Akuma wants the stun, while E. Ryu just wants the damage.
@lordofultima Thank you :) I like E. Ryu too, but I struggle online. I need to zone a bit more. Yun is such a problem for E. Ryu, mainly because of his low health.
On the "Hyrule Chokeslam", the music matched the combo SO well. How it picked up in intensity right as E.Ryu was taking in the darkness into that last punch, sublime.
GGPO is an arcade emulator, you play fighting games through netplay on it. Many people use a keyboard and have for years. How is it more difficult to drum three fingers to make a half-circle motion versus a wrist roll on a typical joystick? A hitbox is a special type of arcade controller that uses buttons for directions instead of the joystick. A lot of people agree that this type of control is more precise than typical joystick.
@dw061384 p-linking (priority linking). They're not at the same time, it's more like drumming your fingers across a surface really fast. If you go from a stronger attack to a weaker attack button in quick succession (1 or 2 frames) you get two inputs of the first attack, doubling your chances of hitting a link combo with strict timing. It's habitual at this point, I plink everything that allows me to.
@wobhouse I have another combo video for Akuma, it is full of like 5 combos. Watch it, people liked that one too! I was more in-depth and covered various types of combos and situations, wanted to be as thorough as possible. The combos at the end are just combos friend. There is definitely redundancy but that's what makes a combo video, it's more about the flow. There's definitely more ridiculous combos out there, I could have started every combo with a big string or jump-in attack for no reason.
@Leandrosaku Just my SE (which I actually prefer to play on since it feels better and the buttons/stick are clickier (since that's the exposed metal plate with a sticker on it, instead of artwork and plexi). I have carbon fiber adhesive on top of the base plate, and used the mvc2 TE hardware and swapped some buttons to get the mismatched color scheme. then I literally wrapped the shell in yellow electrical tape. Best mod ever.
@Im2Godlike Well of course I didn't take it as an insult, but again if the combo is gigantic I probably just ignored it, since this is supposed to be a BNB video. I've always been against just going for the absolute most impressive combo that will ever only arise twice in your career of fighting dudes. Also, only been playing Evil Ryu like a week, so I didn't have time to work on the styling stuff! lol
270 degrees is all you need, so 6 out of 8 directions. so start from back, and roll to up/forward+punch (or kick, if that's what it is). Pushing punch at the same time as the jumping input, will ensure that you don't jump, allowing you to do SPDs from a standstill without jumping beforehand. Back, Down/Back, Down, Down/Forward, Forward, Up/Forward+Punch
Focus Attack Dash Cancel (FADC). You need to have 2 EX Stocks to perform it, you Hold MP+MK immediately after doing the fireball, double tap forward, then release. That cancels the recovery of the fireball, allowing extended combos. It's very fast, my shortcut is to hit Fwd+MP+MK, Fwd+MP+MK really quick.
It's a reference to the ten commandments. The old-timey English fits pretty well, seeing as these are classical compositions in the background, and the whole thing has a weird regal/victorian vibe. The "non-combos" are shown to demonstrate without words that you can't combo into axe/shaku with them, and instead "thou shalt close strong". You dolt.
@thegopfather Not at all an elitist, quite the opposite in fact. If you make a snide comment, I'm not allowed to make one back? :) I don't pirate mang, you come off as an ass for assuming as much. Am I allowed to say that? Is it blasphemous? Well tough shit, people I don't like are people I blocky. Peace.
@wobhouse This is a combo video, you know this right? Yes all the combos have fireball or axe kick, and end with lk tatsu. That is the combo flowchart, that IS the bread and butter. There are a bunch of variations you don't have to know, you can use only 4 combos in there if you want. But then it's not a combo video...
@Im2Godlike Well that's great, I made the decision to not include giant combos that damage scaled too much, and combos that started with jump-ins or big strings of attacks were omitted as a result. I'm aware that you can rack up stun with more hits, but the damage will just go down down down, and the combo itself will be less practical at a base level.
@yasswah grind em out in training mode, really not too difficult. The BNB is close fierce or close strong, cancel into mk axe kick, plink crouching strong to lk tatsu. Work on that sequence, then add in a hit-confirm like crouch jab or crouch strong before the stand fierce.
@thegopfather All the combos are useful in this video. If you don't think there's more than 2 minutes of usefulness, you must never use untechable knockdowns, pokes, or punishes. You can change every combo at the end into a hit-confirm by adding a crouching mp or lp.
@4evil2me well put, he is the ultimate glass cannon for damage. A much simpler approach, which is refreshing for me since I never could put to use every tool that Akuma had, because he had so many. I would just regurgitate on the screen with some mixup that I hope worked.
@RajmanGamingHD Use Evil Ryu because his combos look cool, that's pretty much why I started playing him...and also why I started using Akuma years ago. He looked cool...Didn't care how good he was. Fuck the tiers. I enjoy Evil Ryu BECAUSE of his limited options, less is more in the eye of the beholder.
More stuff works now than it did before. Close strong is still under-utilized, as it allows combo into heavy axe kick (hard knockdown), ex shaku (juggles to ultra), light axe kick (for long stun combos), and medium axe kick (for BNB damage).
I made them. I make most of my assets, because like you, there was no way to find input icons that were high quality enough to go in this video. I've since remade them again. It's really not that hard once you make the fist and boot. Just circles and arrows.
I already tell you what buttons are pressed, the inputs are all over the screen. It's to show you the timing of the link through audio/visual. Strong can be whatever button you want it to be, why would the particular button be of significance?
@MCAvenged The term "Send Some Faxes" is a bit of an inside joke. Ryu throws EX Fireballs and sounds like he says "DOCUMENTS!" and one day I was just playing street fighter and i was like, LEMME FAX OVER SOME DOCUMENTS TO YOUR FACE REAL QUICK.
It's a one frame link. You're either not using MK Axe Kick (the only one that allows a combo), or you're just not timing the crouching MP correctly. One frame link means the window you must hit it is 1/60th of a second.
@uhkuma I agree man, not saying E. Ryu is top of the tops or even up there on tiers, but tiers don't really matter so much apart from yun and fei anymore. Everyone is a contender, and Evil Ryu is a ton of fun.
i would like to say on behalf of 99% of us, i appreciate the hard work you put into this video, and i love you....naw for real...lol. But seriously, i appreciate the effort and work you put in this!
@AnotherCurse3 This has to be a troll, mang. If not, I assure you my skills are pretty average. Training mode and execution is pretty simple, theory fighting is much easier than actual fighting.
@BluIsRaw lmao, why you'd need to plink a jab is beyond me anyway. I do plink short already, since short will take priority over jab, you plink short to jab. A staple O/S of akuma combos, now a habit.
Yeah it's only the fundamental character that street fighter is built around, Alex Valle what a scrub. Daigo, what a scrub. To insult a man you don't even know, that's a real scrub.
Just out of curiosity, what tournaments is it banned from? There would be no reason it should be banned, certainly not at Evo. A dude just pulled out a keyboard on the stage. lol
I used to play ggpo on keyboard all the time. It's fine as long as you're not playing a grappler. Hell, the hitbox is the return of the keyboard play, just in a joystick appearance.
@DBZfanboy25 I don't play online that much, I am by all accounts a training mode monster, usually just play with a select few friends. Been trying to level up my shit recently though.
@HowiieD It's pretty leniant, the fierce punch is a slow move with a lot of hitstun. Canceling Fierce just means doing a special move right after hitting the guy with the fierce punch.
@thegopfather You're one of the dislikes, I can see that now! lol whatever man, please make your own 30 second combo video with windows movie maker wall of text. Love that format.
@oDaOneNOnlyo If Evil Ryu is Glass Damage Cannon, then Seth is Glass Mixup Cannon. Akuma was overwhelming in some sense, so I don't know know if I'd make a good Seth player. lol
@gislucky13 TE is the only stick I'd recommend. Maybe a Quanba if you go to tournaments and need it dual-modded out of the box. But definitely Madcatz TE otherwise.
@TobyLee87 Haven't really enjoyed playing Akuma in a long time so, I sort of already left him. Though I'm certainly much better at playing Akuma since it's very comfortable.
Buttons on an arcade stick, buttons on a keyboard. they're both just buttons. The only part that takes getting used to is the directional inputs with buttons also.
@BoneChillinMusic Underdogs like Fei Long? You mean the character that won evo and is considered top 2 in the game by everybody and their grandmother? No thanks.
@dannkk Yeah I I did normal SRK so I figured that was implied, I also missed a couple 1 hit jumping MP setups, but that stuff just slipped my mind. lol
Not so much about the motions. It's more about knowing the timing. Also learn about buffering, canceling & such. Most of all though practice, practice, practice...and then practice some more. Repeat the same specials and short combos over and over again. This helps build muscle memory to make the inputs feel robotic so you can learn to focus on timing instead of the motions. Then you can learn to make larger combos.
start off easy by shooting a fire ball and as soon as akuma lets it out press and hold medium kick and medium punch at the same time he should do some palm move(his focus attack), after you get comfortable with that next time you press and hold the focus before the charge is finished dash forward. Then when u got that down just do a hard punch after the dash and thats fadc, explained very simply
@panthervish30 FADC are Focus Attacks DASH Cancels.. or what i like to call em. :).. anyways, you combo into FADC doing a fierce or a move that stuns n opponent long enough for u to dash into another combo. By pressing both MKnMP while pressin front, front.. continuing ur combo! but u gotta pracice them. No shame in headin into training n brushin up on ur skills. If you got a ps3 Add me. Respected_One. :)
If you're canceling a fireball or dragon punch, try holding the forward button from the previous attack when you do the focus attack then you tap forward again and the dash happens. Like this: Down-forward(Hold forward)+punch, FA, (let go of forward) quickly tap forward, then do next attack. Any movement you do from a previous attack registers as movement for the next attack. You'll notice this when you do 2 fireballs really fast, shooting a fire then your super when using normal ryu.
@iamunforgivable Yeah. ;/ It is a shame. Needless to say, it helps in those matchups, but he can get by against everyone else with resets and just high-damage combos. Plus, for example, if you combo into HCF+KK, you get a hard knockdown, the only downside being it requires meter. Loltima showed a cool trick of doing his BnB, light kick tatsu to shoryu, FADC to the EX Axe Kick. Three bars of super meter, but it could be helpful to get that necessary knockdown into wakeup shenanigans.
@lordofultima I've been playing the character. It's more viable than it sounds. The combo does 360 damage. Compare that to his other followups. hp dp, fadc, ex axe kick is 260, still 3 bars. All his 2 bar combos off dp are under 200. U1 does 375, i think. U2 is around 320. Those are both with full ultra meter, which you only have access to at the end of the fight. The combo I listed previously also inflicts the most stun of any of these.
THIS IS THE BEST STREET FIGHTER TUTORIAL EVER!!! you made it very entertaining and thought of a really cool way to teach combos. YOU SHOULD GET PAID FOR YOUR EXCELLENT WORK. WELL DONE!
elimastermind God Save The Combo.
Amazing video editing as well as music choice. Never played Catherine, but these pieces make me want to.
holy crap man i think your the first person to put your actual hand motion in the video thats a big help
That video editing was so godlike
dude i'm so glad u made this video, it's relaxing, fun, and i like how u show how to do combos without making it complicated
any tips on getting the timing right for the cr. mp after the med axe kick? i find it to be an incredibly strict link.
Mei Ousei You're a bit late, that's a 3 year old comment.
But cr.lk is 4 frames as well, both cr.lk and cr.mp is a 1f link. Use cr.lp if you're having trouble.
Use Cr.lp,... i fail the Cr.mp link a lot even though i've play E.ryu since USF4 launch
Keep up the good work and show your video editing chops.
holy shit this might be the best tutorial video i've ever seen
Best Of E. Ryu Combo Video !!!
The Presentation
The layout
The theme and music go well together
The arcade shtick
You, my lord, are a genius

Hey LordofUltima. Do you think you could do an Omega Evil Ryu combo video? I think it'd be awesome.
the best video, good job.
why can't they make Combo videos like this it's a fun learning tool
@dannkk Very interesting actually, I was thinking about it inside the box, like why am I gonna EX DP in your grill. "The Wombotron"
Anyone else thinking this is a Sex Machine?
I'll never forget this video. Taught me the combos I needed to make E. Ryu amazing for me. Glad I stuck with this character for this long.
2020 still my favorite 2d combo tutorial
@SUPERTED623 He's for people that like high damage output. Akuma is more of a mix-up character, while E. Ryu can kill in 2-3 combos. Akuma wants the stun, while E. Ryu just wants the damage.

Very stylish, really informative, and great music choice.
i like the catherine music thats in the background
What a freaking legendary video
This video is a masterpiece, timeless.
This is the best video on youtube.
best sf4 vid I've ever seen. great work man. I'll sub for sure bro.
Everything is perfect in this video !
hands down best combo video I've seen.
This is about the most amazing Video i have ever seen gonna sub this and watch a million Times!!!!
editing ahead of its time
The presentation on this is so good. Great for beginners too.
awesome video...

It takes a lot of effort to stand out from the 7 billion Ryu players...I'd say it's harder to have a competitive Ryu. How many Ryu's win tournaments?
@dannkk Yeah I I did normal SRK so I figured that was implied, I also missed a couple 1 hit jumping MP setups, but that stuff just slipped my mind. lol
@GtzBigTingz If you would click "Show More" it would show you every song that is featured in this video, as well as other useless information.
@samuraix025 BAHAH, great picking up on that. I just like the way the announcer said blaster combo the most. "BLLLAAAASTER COMBO!"
Music is right in the info. Classical compositions that are featured in Catherine, and the last song is a remix from Xenogears.
@lordofultima
I'm referring to the wipes you use when listing combo options after a particular starter, like from 1:32 to 2:05.
@wobhouse Teach me how to troll mang, make me a tutorial. But don't make it more than 2 minutes long or I'm gonna be pissed.
@BigRezee05 by all means, I'm sure there's plenty of technology that no one is bothering to discover since he's so under-used.
@KIRBYSIM lol really, they're like delicious candy to my eyes. Maybe you need to fix yours? OH NO SLOW REVEALING TEXT AHHH
@GamesPlayer1 I believe so, we'll see though as this video consumed my life for an entire week. I need to shower. lol
@KIRBYSIM Hmm I see, they're so fast I don't think many people even notice that those videos are on a carousel.
@MRwaffles20 yeah, the strong is a one frame link, but if you plink it it feels just like the crouch jab link IMO.
@DevoidElite lol, well I'm not a mod anymore there so nobody can automatically follow me! BOO Giant Bomb staff!
not true, hitboxes are built to disable blocking from both directions. I've seen them at a lot of tourneys..
@crazyknifer300 Only works on 5 characters, the ones I shown. Can work on Gief as well in rare circumstances.
It's a madcatz SE. You get them at their online store, or at GameStop or wherever video games are sold.
@CannedHedgehogs Well I WOULD HAVE BEEN IF I HADNT BEEN WORKIN 16 HOURS A DAY ON THIS DAMN VIDEO lol
@IlIl00 Wrong button layout. I use the straight 6 buttons, the two on the very left are not in use.
Nice E.Ryu combos, but your video transitions are ridiculously annoying to watch. God save my eyes.
@wobhouse For the record, fat makes meat taste awesome. Dry lean meat is crappy! lol, god bless.
I don't even play sf4 but this vid is beyond great...
@dannkk well that's neat and all, but that's 3 bars...you could just fierce fadc if you wanted.
Doesn't really matter, plink the strong too soon and you get jab, that's the safety net!
Man alive, that was a combo video and 1/2. I've always known Evil Ryu was sick. Thanks man for a very entertaining watch
Madcatz SE in the video. Sanwa parts and carbon fiber, yellow electrical tape... lol

Yeah. ;/ It is a shame.
I don't know what to say, amigo. I can make those motions with my feet.
