A friend of mine had a Trans Am just like this one, only it had a manual four speed. I really liked seeing him flying down northern Michigan roads in the winter when they were covered with fresh snow. The snow would spiral out behind the car and swirl around in circles, appearing like a sideways tornado was coming out from behind it. Another friend had a maroon colored Trans but I’ve always thought that the white and blue ones were the best looking. I never had a Trans Am but I did have a yellow and black Firebird Formula 400 with the four speed that was a lot of fun driving around northern Michigan on the winding roads through the woods. One thing these cars were good for was making one feel like they were floating for a second or two whenever you would crest the top of the many long hills in that area of the state. Anyhow, great find. Just looking at it sure brought back a lot of really great memories for me. Hope whoever ends up owning this car finishes it up right and creates a lot of great memories for themselves with it.
That car is so sick and I want so bad. I love all pony cars but the Firebirds and mustangs just hit different for me. Man if this car was for sale I’d scoop is right up. I’d put it back to a blue interior with column shift and drive it as is.
Beautiful car, probably my favorite Trans Am ever, the '70-'73, with the stripes and Polycast Honeycomb wheels. But if you're going to manufacture it with column shift, then just go ahead and put a proper bench front seat in it! I HATE seeing bucket seats with a column shift, but AMC, Chrysler, Ford, and GM, were all guilty of building them that way. I don't think any 2nd gen F body came with a bench. 1st gens did though. I'd still put that car back to original and enjoy it that way. One of the biggest let-downs in my life was seeing a beautiful Grabber Red '69 Torino GT fastback some 40 years ago, and then peering inside and seeing a column shifter for the C4 transmission, and nothing but carpet between the bucket seats!
Someone has tried real hard to ruin that car. But, it's probably still salvageable. I agree with ditching the column shifter,. Most people got that by accident. When you ordered and auto trans without a console, people didn't know that mandated a column shifter, which left hem sorely disappointed. The hood tach also has to go. And it needs the blue interior. After about $50-60K it could be a nice driver.
Yeah that column shifter is a disaster and usually a dealer screwup but Pontiac should have prevented this by requiring rhe console with automatic like they did in later years, at least on Formula and Trans Am anyway. This ranks up there with a vinyl top on Trans Am. 🙄
Some folks just have a “nose” finding gems that haven’t seen the light of day is years or decades. Great video Chad, err I mean Johnny 😂😂
Love the car. Very good condition for that age of car. No rust or minimal. Great find ! Im jealous lol 😊... love to see the finished result 👍🏻

Awesome story. Michigan guy here 👍🏻
I wonder how much this one would be if it’s still available 😮
What a great find
Hood tach is Redundant and a 1st gen Item. ALL Trans Ams had a Gauge package which has a tach included. Good clean core to work with.
Great find, nice paint.
What a find great car!!!
Great show keep up the good work be safe my friend
It looks to me like the seats were redyed(front anyway), perhaps to match other interior parts from another car.
Very cool find!!

That car still needs at least $10k of labor and parts to even be finished properly. Sweet piece of automotive history though.
True...but right, it's worth up to 100K.
Wow all's I
