Great video and advice. I have experienced the same. My hair is fine and the tools just rip out my hair. Finger tangling causes my hair to clump nicely, I get fewer knots and my hair is MORE detangled than with a tool. The tools just pull knots down to the end of my hair and then the knots have to be cut off. My hair is so much smoother and I am retaining much more length. xoxo

Thank you 🙏🏾 and I’m with you! I have very fine strands as well, I’m glad I’m not alone in this.
And I’m glad your hair is happier with your finger detangling method 🙌🏾🙌🏾 healthy hair, and knowing what works for you is the goal 💕

Finger detangling gets faster the more you do it!!! It's like the hair gets used to it and gets less tangled so stick with it!!!

Finger combing/detangling is the appropriate way for natural afro hair. Combs are for straight hair. This knowledge has been out there for years and yet Black women ignore it and then wonder why they have thin hair and alopecia. Stop using combs and stop pulling the hair follicles out in high tension hairstyles! It seems like common sense but I guess that is not very common 😊.

Is it just me? Do you guys also find that you loose a lot of hair when you comb it?

Same case here!! I was concerned about it. My hair grows so fast but when it comes to retaining length that's another problem. Funny how my hair gets so hard to detangle when wet and I have experienced lots of tiny knots during my washing.
Plus my hair is the course type with low porosity.

      @@faithachy952 right!!
And luckyyyy. My hair grows super slowly, so retaining length has been the most important goal for me.
What do you use to detangle your hair?? Do you finger detangle also?

    • @faithachy952

I just use some coconut conditioner after I shampoo. I would then try to finger detangle but then end up using the comb because of the tiny knots, girl!! It's so frustrating. But the more I comb the more I loose hair.

@@faithachy952 awe nooo! I know the feeling. I get so tempted to comb my hair as well. Literally just yesterday I REALLY didn’t feel like doing the whole finger detangling thing. But every single time I comb my hair I loose a lot of hair too. That’s the only thing keeping me away, other than that I’d be combing it everyday 😩

Hey..I also stopped using combs & etc & I love it 😍 ❤!! If it's not for parting i dont use them.
Combs was breaking my hair too no matter moisturize or not.
Since I stopped using the combs & etc I have retain so much length.
Glad I did my research on my hair. I don't use any products if it's not natural like coconut oil or chebe butter l.
Everything you said is so accurate I can relate to everything!!
    Tfs hun I love 😍 this video!!❤
If it wasn't for videos like these
I will be so clueless on what to do
    With my 4c hair

interesting ! have you ever tried the Denman brush ? the definition it gives is unreal and it clumps the curls together nicely so it gives it a nice full curl look .

I have not! I’ve heard of them though 🙂 and I wouldn’t be apposed to trying it in the future, but for now I’m quite satisfied with how my fingers are doing. I’m finallllyyy retaining length, so I’ll want to keep doing what I’m doing for now

I use an extra wide seamless comb now. it's like finger detangling. I stay far away from all those detandeling brushes. I tried them all and everyone riped my hair no matter how gentle I detangled my hair..

Just a bit of advice that I learned from another RUclipsr. When detangling with her fingers she used a little water and oil

    • @EmilyAnneOwusu
      @EmilyAnneOwusu 2 года назад +2

I personally don’t like using water when I’m detangling because water reverts my hair and causes shrinkage. Which makes my hair a little more difficult to detangle.
But I do like this tip and suggestion! Keep them coming 🥰

Awe, think of it as your stands just love each other 🙌🏾 so they always want to intertwine.
How is the tangle teaser brush going for you?? Do you find it’s more gentler than combs?
