i found it strange that her father was not mentioned the whole movie. the father could have left them early on in lee's life then returned with that plastic surgery look which could explain y they thought he was a stranger. it could be a play on word association with the spider daddy lonlegs. otherwise y name the killer that random word.

Always remember as a teenager hearing that seeing Alien in the cinema was critical because of the widescreen and wide shots with the dark corners and tunnels of the ship at the edges, not knowing what was hiding in those shadows. In the 80s and 90s you had pan and scan versions that took that away on 4:3 sadly. Finally got to see it years later and I think your comment on that wide angle choice is spot on, it is like pushing out to the edges of your peripheral vision (often where your brain likes to play tricks on you with sudden and imagined movement).

    Subbed, brilliant non spoiler review.
Something that I discovered about this movie after watching an interview with the director yesterday, was that Nicholas Cage said to the director that he wanted to do it exactly how he wrote it, Oz Perkins told Nicholas that he could add a little, tweak something if he wantes to, but Nicholas read the script and loved it so much, that he said no, I want to do this exactly how you have it pictured, and we get one of the best horror performances of the past decade, (I haven't gotten to see the film yet, but I will this upcoming week for my birthday), I'm so pumped, and nervous in the best way to see this film, psychological thriller's are my favorite's, (Scream is a good example of non-supernatural, horror/thriller, Zodiac, Seven, heck midsommar and Hereditary as well, the slow burn, slow reveals and then the movie ends, and leaves you...scarred, affected, thinking, pondering for many months and year's to come about the experience you just had). 😃

Hi there! You might enjoy Zodiac, based on the serial killer by the moniker. It's a very slow burn, but by the end, you get a lot of the same feelings and fear, and Jake Gyllenhaal's character, as the reporter, is so burned out that he struggles to separate hallucinations from reality. It's a lot better than I expected. Another one you've likely seen that's more horror with some crime is Let Me In. Elias Koteas is brilliant as the detective who slowly loses his grip once he realizes that he's dealing with...well, things that shouldn't exist. Also, a really just CREEPY film is The Ice Storm. I made the mistake of watching that movie when I was alone in the house one night, & it left me feeling so unsettled that I found myself needing to turn the lights back on the second the credits rolled, & LongLegs left me feeling just as unnerved. Once they get into the dolls though the movie fell incredibly flat for me, and felt extremely rushed. They could’ve benefited from another 20 minutes honestly.
It felt a little too sinister meets Annabelle at the end. Which would’ve worked for me in a movie like malignant, but fell very flat for me here.

"Longlegs" is marketed as a groundbreaking horror film, but it fails to deliver on that promise. Directed by Oz Perkins, the movie lacks the tension and fear that one would expect from the genre. Despite some well-executed camera angles, the film’s narrative is slow and uninspired, focusing more on crime than actual horror.
Nicolas Cage’s performance is a peculiar mix of his over-the-top screaming, reminiscent of his scenes in "Kick-Ass" where he’s burning alive, and his signature forced laughter. While Cage brings his usual eccentric energy, it doesn’t save the film from its shortcomings.
The marketing team hyped this movie as a revolution in horror cinema, but that claim feels entirely misleading. Audiences expecting to be scared will be sorely disappointed. "Longlegs" is neither terrifying nor innovative; it’s a missed opportunity that doesn’t live up to its potential.

its beautifully filmed but they really fucked themselves over advertising this as a horror. all of the horror fans were pissed leaving the theatre. i wouldnt have bought tickets at all if they advertised it as it really was, so i guess i understand why they did what they did. they really relied on the hype to sell tickets because the film itself didnt cut it.

Except the dialogue was written by Tommy Wiseau. The protagonist is single dimensional with no character development, a robotic presence and is just a genius somehow and we get no context for it.
she just coast through every endeavor of the mystery and uncovering Longlegs while everyone else in the FBI has never gotten close to figuring it out but her. The same genius who’s an FBI agent that pants extremely loud when entering her home searching for an intruder after doing no running what so ever all while hardly being able to properly hold her service weapon correctly.
Most of All the males are depicted as docile, weak and naive.
It was shot entirely on ultra wide lenses for what seems like just making a vibe? And hey let’s also just relentlessly key frame zooms for the sake of further making a vibe.
Crap packed with edgy visuals and tone setting gimmicks trying to compare it self to the likes of silence of the lambs. Utter dog shit

    Honestly.... Hyped up....nicely marketed.... just
    decent...Watched it last night and
don't even recall Nicholas Cage role.. Certainly not scary... ..hardly any uuhs and aaahs from audience in the theater...
Lack of tension and pacing of the
    movie....No specific character stood
out or lead the movie ....
Cinematography was very good with nice light and shadows and the dark theme and camera angles but
the story did not back it up nor was gripping ....Things
    just happened and meas audience
    expected some creepy stuff...Not ust
    shooting and killings anid dead
bodies....Going in a horror movie we
    expected more demonic angle or
    some connection to the other
universe.Or a backstory that would have given more engagement to the audience.... .There were scenes that
started to build up to something but
eventually the scene cuts off to
something else.... It could have been very promising with great background score and good acting.... . 6/10.... Just my take.... There are way better movies....

  • @silphiumforever
    @silphiumforever Месяц назад +4

    Spoilers.
The second the two FBI pulled into the neighborhood at the beginning I knew Agent Redshirt was a dead man. This movie was extremely predictable, and worse: it actively gave its "secrets" away at each and every earliest opportunity which removed all suspense, or interest for that matter. The psychic schtick lasted approximately as long as the scenes it was introduced in, and was then almost completely ignored. The characters all seemed to be on the same quirkily half-speed overdramatic wavelength which made all the performances blend together. The exceptions were Detective Supervisor Man who was completely boilerplate until the end, and NicC who was as ridiculous as his costume. When they ultrasounded the doll brain Satan mcguffin was a real eye rolling moment too. I give it a 3.2/10 and a Hail Satan for the artsy cinematography and a couple of subtle, fleeting images. Save it for a cold and dreary night at home maybe? Or not.
