Great instructional video! I'm wanting to make diamond painting patterns for some of my daughter's artwork and this looks like it's probably the best way to do it. The best way to put the adhesive on the picture is to just peel a few inches of the backing off, line it up with the bottom of the picture, and then peel the backing off as you push the adhesive side onto the picture. That way if you lose your grip and drop it, it won't stick to the picture. I've used that technique with clear contact paper for other craft projects.
Thank you! I found that tip recently! I have a brand new video on an even better method on doing a custom from scratch. ruclips.net/video/hBn1LYeoto0/видео.html
Wow. I learned a lot from this video. I applaud you for figuring it all out! One of the things that I learned is that I am not going to try this on my own. Thank you! PS: I went to my Joann’s today. All of the “old” DD had red clearance stickers, at 50% off. They were mostly partials, and I decided I didn’t need any of them. (When I got home, I found that they are online, listed as “online only”.). They had some of the new character kits, and it looked like many had already been bought. They did not have any of the freestyle stuff. No canvas, no adhesive, no huge diamond display. I actually walked out empty handed!
I am impressed with how you layed the adhesive to the patter and didn’t get bubbles...especially when it decided to go on its own..I would have swore at it
Looking good! Now I’ll just have to figure out how to print from my smart phone to my wireless printer. Or from my laptop. That may be the easiest to do. Thanks Doni I appreciate you doing this.
Doni, I was working with the canvas with the printed graph and adhesive already on the canvas. Good resizing. Trying to use one of the Expression book’s pictures. The love/Peace. I will keep watching. Wonder what the cost will be, depending on size, I know. TY for helping us.
Thanks, now I have some ideas on what to do with left over drills! I would love to know if we could put the on figurines, I thought I would try but not sure what to use. I think I will try to paint on the pour glue. We shall see if it works lol
It looks great I love colour blocking I have been useing my 15 placer and my four placer it took practice for me use the multi placers but I think I cracked it now it’s great haveing u tubers who give you tips and tricks on how to use the tools thankyou 😀
Thank you very much for showing how to do this. I have a picture of my mom and dads old barn that’s over a hundred years old and I wanted to figure out how to make it into a diamond painting. Now to see if I can do it. Lol. Thanks again. ❤️
Girl you are Special! That is way to much work for free style! You Need to have your own manufacturing facility for diamond painting! Sweetheart you’ve got some✨✨ MAD Skills ✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨
Yes, thank you so much! I couldn't remember who posted it in the group at the time and with my scattered brain, I also forgot to go back and look it up LOL It is extremely useful knowing the names of the colors because if you need to order it online, you have to know the name.
hi I Have multiple questions first what books do you recommed for scanning second how did you get the little symbols on there and third do you scan it right out of the book like put the book right on the scanner
I wonder if this image will come out pixilated . Usually you need a large surface for that kind of image . But it looks like the image is clear, so I don't think it will.
just an idea but if u wouldve put parchment paper on the part you werent working on yet it wouldnt of stuck. ive learned this trick doing my vinyl. so hopefully this helps anyone who is going to try this . after getting so many bubbles i just learned this trick 2 weeks ago makes life so easy lol
I know this video is a year old but for future reference most stores that accept returns will price match new sales if you bought stuff within a month or so because theoretically you could return using your old receipt and then buy all new ones for the discounted price and they'd have to deal with the returns so it's easier for them to price match for you ;)
Why don't you use double-sided tape to stick the pic to your cutting mat that way it won't move. you should apply DD sandwich adhesive paper like you do mac-tac stick part down then pull the paper out from underneath it in a straight smooth line.
so, how does the picture hold up after diamond painting? gluing the paper to canvas has me curious, we live on the coast, have humidity, and anything I do has to stand the humidity.
What I'm going to do for all my projects I've done, is use resin then frame, what the resin does is make it look glossy and so smooth. There's videos for that as well ☺️
Does anyone know of a reliable way to convert the dotz in the kits for freestyle use? The newer kits have the four digit numbers but i have an older "tender tigers" kit that only has them labeled as A01, A02 etc. If i can figure out the freestyle numbers for those then i can match them to a DMC using the charts and start doing projects.
The only way would be to just compare the colors from your older kits to the colors that they sell in freestyle. It isn't perfect, but you can see the colors on Joann's website and bring each one up in the screen to compare them.
watched your video but have a few questions 1 what type of paper do you use for your pattern 2 do you follow the same directions if you picture is not out of a book and if not would you know how to do it using any image ? I joined your group a couple of days ago on facebook and have not heard anything yet cause i was gonna send you a pic i would like to do as a diamond dotz pattern
I used regular inkjet paper. I would think things would be the same no matter where you get the pattern from. I believe in one of my videos showing this method, I use a regular photo to convert it into a cross-stitch with the program that I mention. So you can use any photo to make it into a diamond painting.
That would be outside the range of normal diamond painting. You would just want to use craft glue and glue them on to a mask in the pattern of your choice.
Ugh. This is not for me. I like the pic of the dogs and cats, but this is crazy. Sorry DD this is a big miss for me and my group. (We have a small grouping who works on the diamond paintings)
Yes, for sure it isn't for everyone. I am thinking it will be more in line of doing my own customs than doing a pattern from a book of some random thing that I could live without.
So glad to see this. I am impressed that you didn't get frustrated and throw it away and start over...you stayed with it and got a really nice piece.

So neat , I know now I couldn’t do it but it’s fantastic. Loved the videos I watched both .Hope Tesslyn is doing well . Enjoy your vacation .
Thank you so much for this video! I’ve got a project pending and you probably saved me tons of issues!
Wow, you did a great job on this tutorial. It looks like quite the process to do this style of diamond painting.
Doni, I was working with the canvas with the printed graph and adhesive already on the canvas. Good resizing. Trying to use one of the Expression book’s pictures. The love/Peace. I will keep watching. Wonder what the cost will be, depending on size, I know. TY for helping us.

Great idea! I wonder if Ink jet transfer paper would work. It’s like an iron on patch that you have printed yourself. You can find it at Joanns
Ohhhh great idea!!! I'll look into that too! Thank you!
Doni you did awesome enjoy your vacation
this is perfect I had just bought several rolls of each and was trying to figure out how I was going to put an image on it
You did a great job doing this. Thank you so much for sharing
I really liked this video. Thanks again for sharing.
You did a fantastic job! 👍🏻
I also have a huge roll of dry tac double sided adhesive on the huge dispenser roller thing and it is so sticky
Look up the hinge method for applying vinyl, that would save from getting bubbles. That’s what I am going to use
Awesome, thanks! I'll look into it.
Hi Doni, loved your video. Was wondering if the round rulers will line up?
I will have to check that later today. I was thinking about that as I was starting this, but I didn't have one close by to try lol.
Glad I could help with the color list 🥰
Yes, thank you so much! I couldn't remember who posted it in the group at the time and with my scattered brain, I also forgot to go back and look it up LOL It is extremely useful knowing the names of the colors because if you need to order it online, you have to know the name.
You explained really great!
hi I Have multiple questions first what books do you recommed for scanning second how did you get the little symbols on there and third do you scan it right out of the book like put the book right on the scanner
Can you print on the canvas paper?
So cool! Great tutorial!! 😃
Wow you did a good job💜

you are braver then i. i bought all of those products 6 months ago and ive yet to do it.
I'll do that next time. I actually prefer the release papers to parchment paper though 😊. Thanks for the suggestion!

so very cool !
So can you cut the canvas to a normal paper size, then print it directly to the canvas that doesn’t have adhesive on it?
I am not sure. I am considering doing this on the next one that I try.
Hello my daughter got into these diamond dotz n im learning as well but have you every done on fabric?
I personally have not. I'm guessing that the adhesive wouldn't stick too well to fabric.
EXCELLENT!!!! Thank you!
Why don't you use double-sided tape to stick the pic to your cutting mat that way it won't move. you should apply DD sandwich adhesive paper like you do mac-tac stick part down then pull the paper out from underneath it in a straight smooth line.

I live about an hour from the coast (yeah I know, not the same). It is still holding strong. Especially after sealing it.
What I'm going to do for all my projects I've done, is use resin then frame, what the resin does is make it look glossy and so smooth. There's videos for that as well ☺️
15 at a time!? I'm lucky to get 3 at a time. Lol
Too bad you couldn’t just print the image onto the Candice and I loved your video
As I was falling asleep last night, I was thinking the same thing. I might mess around a little bit to see if that is possible :)
Does anyone know of a reliable way to convert the dotz in the kits for freestyle use? How do you order some of the colors when JonAnn's only has color name not number? Then on Joann app they say you have to order Four of each.
Use the file I link in my description box. It tells you all the names associated with the diamond Dotz numbers.
what do you do with all the leftover diamonds from other paintings
I just started keeping my leftovers from DAC in a box. I have a current video about that. The rest I am just pourng into jars.
Do you ever use a grid to keep your dots straight
Yes, I do use the mesh rulers.
Does it automatically print out into a grid?
If you select the option to do that, I believe it will.

I have been doing research how to make them on masks and cant find a video step by step
That would be outside the range of normal diamond painting. You would just want to use craft glue and glue them on to a mask in the pattern of your choice.
Doni, is this software for Apple also?
I'm really not sure. I would just click the link I have put in the description box and see if it offers it for Mac.
Diamond Painting by Doni TY. Hope you’re enjoying your vacation.
Doni it’s just for Windows. That’s ok. I would rather buy a printed canvas anyway. So many to choose from. Thank you for your efforts to teach us.
no se puede traducir y por lo tanto no puedo entender ni donde comprar?
I’m the same as you, no imagination for things like that.
Could you print that on the actual canvas instead of paper?? Hmm
I'm actually going to attempt that in one of my upcoming segments. Waiting on a new printer first.
Scan crop image viewer math?????? Oh I wish I could of done this. 😢 I’d love to make my own DP.
There is an easier way in one of my newer videos 😉
Ugh. This is not for me. I like the pic of the dogs and cats, but this is crazy. Sorry DD this is a big miss for me and my group. (We have a small grouping who works on the diamond paintings)
