We fished the pass for years in the 60’s through 80’s mostly. Biologists would occasionally be testing for shark’s migration. Lot of sharks in the pass. They were testing on the Surfside side and he was telling us that they had an exciting thing happen a day or two before we were there. They used 55 gallon barrels to tie their hooks on and float them in the pass watching them. They had one shark hit the hook that took the 55 GALLON barrel down, which they had occasionally happen, but the barrels would come back up and they would fight the sharks in and take their readings. This time the barrels didn’t come back up for a couple hundred feet. It came up and then went right down and the last time they saw the barrel it partially came up as it went over the sand bar out of the pass into the gulf. They estimated the shark had to be over 12 foot long and probably a great hammerhead or a bigger tiger shark.
19 to 21.... you forgot to turn on the calibration on your glasses....LOL adapt to the situation, channel ( rigged up like Kayak Catfish with that heavy weight) to marsh
Great video, Mark, I was hoping you would hook up with a bull red in the beginning, but you ended up with a nice limit of slot reds and a nice flounder to boot! That shrimp lure really got the job done! Take care and be safe, anxiously awaiting your next video!
Just curious, but wouldn't a pyramid sinker work better than an egg sinker? It might hold in place better. Of course, SLP is known for it's ripping current.
I don’t understand ur in a little bitty plastic canoe and you guys have about 6 rods in your craft. I fish every weekend pretty much right where u are at and I only bring 2 poles in a 21 foot boat. Pretty weird I see that a lot kayakers always have a ton of rods. Kinda strange.
It’s pretty simple really. Just bring four extra setups or spend your time retying when you want to change lures. Thank goodness we’re all different because fishing would be boring if there was only one way to fish.
@@MDLRFishing I gotta good tip for u. The best rig in world out ther is 1/2 ounce egg sinker , red ball ,swivel, 18” or so leader and circle hook. Rig one pole with that and on other pole put one of those quick swivels so u can change lures or go to cork. Take 2 poles save space and to b honest cash. I’ve seen many of them kayaks flip over and all the crap goes to the bottom. I’ve had to rescue 2 dudes by bridge when flipped over by other boats. Even with full blown in or out tide the 1/2 ounce works the best.
Solid trip.
I liked how you showed the entire story.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts on this. This type of constructive feedback is what helps to shape the channel.
@@MDLRFishing education aspect is obvious. It also adds a bit suspense to the movie. I think you should publish “skunk” movies too.
Happy Birthday Marine

Tuesday 🤙
I’ve been sick with abdominal pain since Wednesday. I felt good enough to edit today.
@@MDLRFishing a nasty flu has been going around. The wife and kids were sick all week with it.
You can load up on those blue crabs
Slow start with a one legged bird, lol then a better finish. Happy Bday. Does anyone live in those marsh houses or just a weekend getaway?
😂. I think they’re privately owned weekend fish camps.
Great day to keep slugging it out for a limit...buck
Thank you!
Saludos amigo buen día de pesca 🎣 bonito lugar

Most definitely the weight I should’ve used 👍. I now know for next time.

Why do they close flounder season??
My guess is to try and boost reproduction numbers during the height of their spawn.
Your dialog with your viewers is the BEST! Wayyy supercedes one of your buddies YT channels, won't respectfully mention his his name. 😊
