I took care of her for 3 years when she was bedridden because i didn't want someone taking care of her from outside... My life is fruitful because i did my part. Mama Freida’s story reminds me of how we used to live at home. My mom’s first born used to insult her saying she’s bewitching him & she must live her own house ‘cause he built it. Some people don’t love it when a family is filled with warmth, love and happiness

I fail to understand why the abuse of the elderly went on for so long without proper intervention relevant professionals. This is clearly a case of Safe Gaurding adult which needs implementing protection of the elderly. The abuse by her daughter is not a case of not accepting her mother's mental health issues. Gogo sounds capable to express her needs and the pain she is going through abusive daughter. Why the daughter was not charged and removed from Gogo's house immediately pending the meeting. They left her with the same daughter under the same roof so that the abuse continues till they decided a plan of action at the next meeting. There was all the evidence of abuse reported by the neighbours. But still professionals prioritised counselling for daughter and Gogo so daughter can understand Gogo mental health issues. That was clearly supposed to be an ongoing plan not a top priority. In my view Gogo was failed by authorities and not got protection she deserved. It's so sad to see such poor intervention. Please this is an embarrassment to the SW proffession . Can you imagine how many cases similar to Gogo's case that are handled in this manner.
These social workers use the book and titles and not humanity. So called ngwana is not ngwana anymo pls 47🙆🏼♀️🤦🏽♀️still at home and abusing motswadi…. Imagine back room 🤦🏽♀️she must just Go..😡
What on earth would make a daughter switch up on her mom like that? Sounds like there is more to this story than we know. But def won't tolerate abuse and the daughter actually needs to be arrested for that. The fact that she absolutely refuses to be interviewed to give her side of the story is curious
Im very disappointed by my fellow social work colleagues...They are only intervening because media is involved..If they felt that the case needs referral why didnt they refer her to relvant resources and keep contact regarding her development...Elderly and children should be their first priority
