I wouldn't call it brave , think the word is stupid 😭 honestly if the car wasn't getting a full overhaul in a few weeks I wouldn't have 🤣 I haven't been in one for over 6 years apart from to film for this ......
very brave of you👍🏻. The sounds remind me of my childhood. I always thought it was really great to drive through such a facility with mum or dad. is now 30 years ago. and then there was always ice cream or something sweet, from the Pedrolstatin. God I've grown old 🤣.
They are good but to just have to get the best option they offer. People commenting about doing it by hand fair enough but unless you a trained detailer I’m sure 90% of us will do more damage than these car washes will do. I mostly take mine there for coating and fact under chais is washed because I live right next to the sea. Car has no rust on it and I’m sure taking it there once a month is part of the reason why
So you are right in the rust , any coating what's applied monthly will help protect against rust even the most basic , damage wise all depends on the car wash , I have been to some well maintained that take pride in their works ... Iv also been to some that lay their microfibers on the ground to dry them 😬, like anything with the correct approach or even a caring car wash then cars are generally safer ... I think if you enjoyed doing it yourself with a few basic products and equipment you could to a safe job .
LOL, it's good to see a detailers perspective on the automatic car 'wash'. Years ago I had a dark blue Mondeo with soft paint, it was trashed by just one hand car wash at a supermarket, I was horrified at how much damage just one bad wash caused. The paint had loads of swirls, the fake chrome around the windows was ruined and the calipers went rusty.
Id the car didn't already look like a cat had been at it I would have been 🤣 needs some TLC our poor car everyone els's getting the love apart from ours
In the mid 80s, my mum had an austin allegro followed by a volvo 340. We used to love going through the car wash as little kids. Makes my cringe as an adult
100% I use to to love it 🤣 feel bad my son begs me all time and I refuse🤣 need to get myself an old banger or a rental so I can take him in 🤣 ... But yeah it's horrible feeling now . I hate driving by everyday especially when you see high end motors going in 😬
I use an automatic car wash in the winter, where I live the cars get filthy, there a patches at the moment where there’s no tarmac left on some sections of lane. The only reason though is because I have a gravel drive and can’t deal with all the mud dropping on it. It’s the lesser of two evils for me. Once the weather starts to improve I move back to hand wash and polish. Before anyone says just put a tarp down before you wash, I tried that and it’s no fun at all dealing with wet muddy tarps
Good man yourself taking one for the team in the name of research lol always brings a tear to the eye when a car goes in them washes good video mate top man.
Good video, enjoyed it. Years ago before I got into detailing I used hand car washes. One day in the hot weather they put what I now know was tfr on the car in a long que, I thought crikey that's a bit early. Anyhow it stained the windscreen with speckles, took me years to figure it out.
Yeah so years ago I had a rover that was a beaten up old thing they did the same but the car was covered in chrome .... Those chrome's where trashed 😬 and also half the car was still covered in mud
Fair play to you Darren, good content was that, not that you'd get me anywhere near one of them places. Looking forward to the rectification videos 😂. All the best.
The things you do for content 🤣🤣. Frightening stuff that! I have always hates them places as i have being dragged along, gives me the creeps. The damage they cause is the worst part though. Good work dude 👏
Yeah unfortunately I wouldn't advise it, there are some safer than others, and I would say the safest way is to wash your vehicle yourself using two bucket. Method
OMG glad I watched this , as just bought insurance from a comparison site & as a reward I could choose 12 free washes on my G20 BMW . Must say the sound of those roller brushes made my left eyebrow stand up like the Rocks does.. I f you smeeeellll what I’m cooking?? Instead I think I’ll choose the £20 Halfords voucher instead ..;)
That sound of the brushes spinning on the bodywork 😮 People that use these just don’t care tho that’s the issue, either too lazy to do on their own or don’t have the facilities to do so , a few years ago 5th Gear did a test of which car wash damaged the most and the machine was the least , seems like they need to revisit this 😮
Yeah it's scary how much force these things put on the car combined with the spinning bits and the flappy bits ect it's mental the worst part is how busy the place always is , I know not everyone's is like us but people must start to notices swirls eventually
Get what you pay for I suppose, but over time if you kept using it imagine the damage from tfr, swirls and literally bashing bits off, all that potential damage and it wasn’t even that clean 😅
100% this was a very unplanned video the camera where in the car and I'd given up waiting for the rain to clear so I stuck it in those I would love to have done a detailed talk on chemicals and the brushes ect ... But yeah is scary to see on the page of this company some of the cars that go through it
Yep..I would say it was Newmarket. I use it regularly and found it to be very good. Leaves my car very clean. I have a subscription for a monthly top Ceramic wash, which makes it cheaper. Works for me. 🤷🏼♂️
Yes your correct, it's Newmarket, it's a personal preference I guess for some a clean car is just that clean but for some like myself who wants to keep the paint as fresh and defect free as possible it's a miss
@TheHairyHouseWife Each to their own. However, after years (I am old) of experience, I find dealers and private buyers pay much the same price regardless of whether a car has been hand washed or through a car wash. Unless of course you own a Ferrari? I will keep an eye out for you next time I park at Tesco's. 👍🏻
@Sn00pyJ508 you'll always see me about 🙌 erm I agree with mass market 100% altho there's quite a big market for people like myself and those who pay for a detailers service, it's a bigger community that people realise and how ever your correct most people don't worry and that's how these places stay in business, I'm in the industry itself selling car care products aswell as RUclips and it's a very very big market but probably no where near as big as the automatic car wash market
It's where most vehicles graphics and vinyls and decals go . Not sure where you buy yours if you do , but most promo , company decals are all external, like those that are also fitted on race car and promo cars. And even vinyl wrapping ...
100% ahaha well the car was getting bad anyways so I thought bugger it why not 🤣 wish I hadn't now tho just noticed plastic trim that's now hanging off
Hello,I have been to these twice with my last car I had and being white it didn't seem too bad,I do it myself now with a Worx jet wash and shampoo.taking it through a car wash sounds like it being ripped apart lol.
Thanks Darren really appreciate the shout out this is what we love about the community congratulations to Paul saw the cake incredible ❤❤
As soon as I saw the brush, I was crying 🤦🏻 your a braver man then me to take your car through it. 😂

You could do a rinseless wash in about 15 minutes for a couple of quid in the IMO car park.
Even though your car is marred.. I still have the same reaction...😱😱😱
