- This interview was from a promo CD Rom given out during the release of Euphoria Morning in 1999. It features a 10 minute interview with Chris Cornell talking about his newly found solo career. I picked this disc up at a local record shop and thought I would share it.

usually when bands break up and the singer goes solo it sucks, but this album is just fuckin gorgeous. and so underrated! there's so much passion and raw honesty and melancholy in the music and lyrics. Cornell is a genius.
absolutely. I got sucked into this album when I was 13...and I've listened to it multiple times almost every month since then...i am almost 30 now and it has grown with me through all that time...

The fact that this album didn't explode the charts while Nickelback was going nuclear that same year tells me I made the right call to stop pursuing a career in music.

This is the best Cornell interview I've ever seen
I really did love this man. I loved his music so much and the person he seemed to be through his music and his interviews. May his soul RIP, thank you for brining so much light and connection to us who stood in darkness, you were truly an angel Chris!

Great promo. This record is awesome. Diverse, heartfelt, interesting. One thing you could overlook is the contribution of the other band members, who were an experienced band at that point. He even said as much - "this is more of a band effort than a solo record." The keys player passed away a few years ago. Way too many talented people are now absent, along with CC himself.

I've been a fan for 20+ years yet I wish they would call it a day once again, take a couple of years off...

And he looks so much better . I don't know if age started kicking his ass but at the end he looked so ruff.
He was always slim but looked even thinner the last year or so of his life which being too thin at a certain age makes your face look horrible, and stress and God only knows what else he was going through his last year or two on this earth.

I had a boyfriend many years ago that had eyes just like Chris....they pull you in and make you fall in love with them...very addicting and dangerous...
down on the upisde was a straight indicator that this band was heading for the splits. just a mediocre effort in response to a classic album being superunknown. seems like chris was becoming detatched from the music that made soundgarden famous. you can hear the distinct tracks that chris was heavily in command of his new ear on down on the upside. im guessing thayill wasnt having it for one more slow ass album. you can still tell today how detatched cornell is from the old music.

that Chris was on his way out already,
and he fought a lot with Kim during the
recording process...
Pretty Noose, Zero Chance, Tighter and Tighter.....three of the best songs that Soundgarden have. Down on the Upside was far, far, far from a 'mediocre' album. Even the b-side 'Bleed Together' was probably their best non-album track too.
