Finally, someone on Chris level. Most interviewers are simply embarrassing and ask dumb questions that always seemed like a waste of Chris' time. This one was fun!
I remember watching this on TV when it came out, thinking that Chris looked and sounded great and seemed to be in a good place. I began to think of all the guys from the grunge era that had passed away and felt extremely grateful that Chris made it through. Little did I know he'd meet a similar fate a few years later :( He seemed like such a smart, polite and humble guy. May he rest in peace.
This was the best Jools Holland interview ever, but being a Chris Cornell fan perhaps I am biased. back in the 90's I NEARLY met Jools Holland. Not, meeting him was very depressing as I had just recorded a new 3-track demo (On Cassette) and I was sending them all over the place, then quite by chance my mate ran to my house and said Jools Holland is in the village (West Haddon Northamptonshire), he was either lost and had broken down or both as my mate said that he had a map spread on the bonnet of a MKII jag and was eating a snack probably bought from the village shop opposite where he was parked. THIS WAS IT... this was the perfect opportunity. So Grabbing one of my tapes I RACED to the shop..... but the lady at the shop said I had JUST missed him. In my mind, I fixed his Jag, gave him directions back to the M1 Motorway, had a steak & Ale pie at the pub, then because we were now such great mates I was invited to play on his show and I should by rights be typing to you now from my boat moored at Cannes. I am still writing music, and still trying over 25 years later... Though women, life and illness did get in the way for almost 10 years of this story. This is it... 2018 is my year I can feel it. Keep on rocking people. 🚀🎹🎸🎤
I've listened to Chris' music since the mid 90s and this is the first interview I've seen of his. The first time I've heard him speak. That's mental in itself and no I have no idea what I've been doing for 30 years but I concede the shame of it! What got me was the way jools said have a sniff of that and Chris didn't even pretend to smell it. Like his rehab reaction kicked in and he just wanted nothing to do with it. Also what a beautiful man he was. Thanks for the poetry man 🖤

The bus is still is the 007! You can see it travelling through South East London to Dover every day! Well (pre-lockdown anyway!). Great video. CC is sadly missed👍
Sweet Christopher. What a man and beautiful soul the ironic quote “no one sings like you anymore”. Even the greatest like Eddie Vedder was out at that time and all I could see was no one but you.
I wonder if Chris was being honest about wanting to be good enough and hoping the best band in the world wanted him or just saying what was expected or something to boost kids watching him to be better cos his songwriting was probably the best of the grunge era it was poetry and from the deepest part of his heart. He was the superband.
I love Cornell. He was lovely but you can tell he’s not impressed with Jools and rightly so. He asked for the record not to be taken out, who is Alice in Change and since when does Nirvana come from Seattle. Not surprised he frowned a lot.
Dense quality 😂? I found the right guy, the one that make me laugh whole night I was dreaming. I thought why he had to do with me? He was tall, skinny and same hair hide in corner shadow.
when you are one of the greatest musician, and have to answer really dumb question. I remember Chris had to anwer another British ,,brainy,, tv person question-----,,why do you scream?,,they always ask so obvious questions it is ridiculous to answer them.
He is one of the most polite rock musicians.
Along with Chester Bennington
@@eternity68exactly 💯
Not telling Jools Holland to pipe down does require politeness, for sure.
He'll be sadly missed - bless him!
R.I.P. Mr. Chris Cornell. You set the bar beyond high for all other musicians!
I just want to give him a hug. He's so inviting and that brown sweater doesn't help the situation ;)
Its almost like you knew he was gonna kill himself, you should have told us.
God damn, he was so beautiful!
I miss CC every day😢

Dreana Dreana ya I was thinking that too, I like this guy! I’ve never heard of him before tho, you?
gene bingle I understand this is quite late, but Jools Holland is really famous over here in England! Great interviewer and presenter!
I love jools but I don't think he thought the "have a sniff of that" thing through
@@genebingle1754 he has a music show called Late night with Jools Holland for years plus he was also a member of the band Squeeze!
@@genebingle1754 His show has only been on the go since 1992. You're probably American.
This is a wonderful warm interview of Chris by Jools.

RIP Mr Cornell. You are sadly missed. One of the greatest singers I've seen live.
Proper gentleman, RIP Chris!
That must’ve been Chris’s favorite sweater, I’ve seen him in it many times.
Have you noticed his favorite shoes too? 😂 They’re so ugly, but I guess he likes them.
Yeah. That sweater looks crazy comfortable. I'd wear it all the time too
Chris Cornell...cool as fuck
❤❤❤❤ Chris is dearly missed, may he rest in Heaven.

The singer for excellence... CHRIS CORNELL .. "THE SINGER"
karolina Anna Valerious www.thepetitionsite.com/655/574/162/justice-for-chris-cornell-to-open-an-investigation-and-process-against-whos-involved-in-his-passing/

miss you -I get it but that's what makes it so hard...listen to you every dayx
What do you get? Please be more specific
Jools is so lovely! I am proud to say he is a friend of mine
Great interview. Chris is humble and Jools is just a good show period with their music.
Lovely man. Rip
Just an amazingly nice bloke..
Let’s hope there’s enough recordings for one last album, we live in hope
I love Alice in Change.
alice in change
nroks think it was a slip of the tongue..they had Alice in change on this show years ago I think..
Huh? In change??
Just to be clear, ALICE IN CHAINS
It was nice of Chris not to correct him.
Angel
You left us too soon Chris. RIP
What a bloke he was RIP Chris Cornell you are sorely missed x
RIP hope you recorded another soundgarden album just to keep us going a little longer!
Love and miss you Chris forever in our hearts ♥️R.I.P. Beautiful Keeper 🙏🏽🕊 Vicky you’re children and family and fans always in my prayers 🙏🏽♥️🌹♥️
2:28 "Alice in Change"
the most handsome man ever lived on that planet
Jools rules!
R.I.P. CHRIS CORNELL
...he had to bring up Seattle...
Sean Connery and live and let die fan, great interview most interviewers ask vacuous questions about pointless shite
I wonder if Chris was being honest about wanting to be good enough and hoping the best band in the world wanted him or just saying what was expected or something to boost kids watching him to be better cos his songwriting was probably the best of the grunge era it was poetry and from the deepest part of his heart. There's another, more serious RUclips video from about 2006 where Chris says exactly the same thing, so I'm pretty sure it's true.
Truish!!!
I love Cornell. He was lovely but you can tell he’s not impressed with Jools and rightly so. He asked for the record not to be taken out, who is Alice in Change and since when does Nirvana come from Seattle. Not surprised he frowned a lot.
Godhead... ❤
RIP
Volumes way to low
Did he say 'Alice in change'? Jesus fella...
Gags Matharoo Probably nerves tbh, this is Jools Holland - not a stranger to music by any means
God Damn it!! whyyyy. So sad that pharma meds ended this beautiful soul's tenure on this planet.
Wasnt suicide!
Alice N Change, twin of Guns N Roses
Sry r we gonna get Chris singing?
ah jessseeeeeee :((
Whenever i see Jules, all I can of is his botched Jet 1 replica loool
I wish I never saw that...
What was he searching for that he didn't already have I wonder?...
Poor man
Dense quality 😂? I found the right guy, the one that make me laugh whole night I was dreaming. I thought why he had to do with me? He was tall, skinny and same hair hide in corner shadow.
I cant hear shit

But, why is it SO LOUD? It's So LOUD! Chris: yeah, can you believe it?! 😂😂
It’s was a Dutch interviewer at the Pink Pop festival in ‘92.
Chris Cornell always reminds me of Dave Grohl.
Liger595 ... watching tons of Chris Cornell vids and have been thinking the same thing, he reminds me of Dave Grohl so much too!
yeah I see your point.. nice person, talented but Dave Grohl is LOUD and not shy at all :)
Spam!
@google Lavon Affair nice try troll bitch
Oh God no!!!
scary! cover ....staying away
Chris rocks!!!not loving the interviewer.
This is a terrible interview considering this is Jools Holland's job when he's on tv.
Matthew Lee: You've got no taste. This was a great interview and Chris seemed relaxed, happy and amused.
