  • Destroying Our Local Playground with my John Deere backhoe, 755 compact tractor, F750 Dump Truck and last but not least, my trusty 036 chainsaw. We got to do quite a lot while working in the park today hoping to make way for some big changes coming this April.

    Neil, I volunteered to do some drainage work at our local park so it would not stay muddy a week after a rain. I anticipated the job to take 4 hrs to install 100' of French drain and a couple of outlets along the way. Little did I know once I installed the drain, a couple of neighbors and members of the club had me taking down 5 dead ash trees, 2 over grown oaks and 1 sweet gum tree! I went from 4 hrs of work to my whole weekend being consumed with my volunteerism! Lol I didn't mind as my family also enjoys this park and my kids play on the summer league for soccer and baseball/softball! In the end I was able to leave there with 5 single axle dump truck loads of firewood and before I had it all cleaned up the kids were already enjoying the dirt piles where the trees once stood. All in all I was glad I was asked to help to see the enjoyment out of the children.

The tree took a lot more effort but wel done.its going to be a nice piece of firewood for your woodboiler . Nice to see you and your dad working together, and your dad is still a hard worker for his age . Respect for dad 👍 and all the other helpers . The kids are going to have a really nice playground once finished. Wish we had the rubber mulch in the days . Didn't know that existed. I wish you al the best. Greetings from 🇧🇪

    Uncle Kenny, happy birthday and sincere wishes for many more!
    Neil, when I saw you loading the 755, I thought, “There is no way he’s getting them out with that!” And, I was right… but, the backhoe didn’t even grunt.
    It barely broke above freezing here yesterday. Your place had to be around 20f. You guys have some kind of dedication… hopefully the glow in your hearts, from Harlan’s new playground, offset any frostbite you got.
    You must have burnt the midnight oil editing this video. For that, I thank you bud!!

    • @digdrivediy
      @digdrivediy  Год назад +3

      Yes and yes.
      It was miserably cold and windy yesterday when we were working on this. Any other time we would have opted out but we were working against a deadline because the new playground must be installed April 12-15th. We still have a lot to get done before we are ready so just trying to take advantage of the weekends.
      The retired Park rangers will now work a little more leisurely through the week to cut all the concrete off all those wooden poles and then start getting rid of all the debris.
      And yeah I had to work into the wee hours to get this one cranked out. I'm getting better at purposely filming in order to help facilitate the edit, which was helpful though. The weather is really slowing down. My options. Need to paint that darn tractor but just can't get the weather to cooperate.
      Hopefully this new playground will be all worth the effort on this though. Can't wait till that's finished as well! It has been a long 3-year process.
      Stay warm there Dave!

I would think you would be able to burn those posts, if the town doesn't want them. They looked like if they had been soaked in creosote, it has long since dried out. Do you think they would be safe to burn? Thanks for the video!

Originally I wanted to but figured better safe than sorry and there is not much to it cuz it's all hollow and full of holes anyway.

    Maybe those concrete columns could be used as a barrier around the field drain next to your property.

    I worked for creek county for a year and u would not believe how he hauled his backhoe they welded a plate across the front of trailer and when he ran up on trailer he put the bar on front of the bucket under it and locked the brakes never chained it down at all.on the way out to the job there was no way I could follow him thinking he is going to loose it at any time the way it flopped around on the trailer

    Nice work! One comment though. When I'm working the hoe I do not like anyone standing within its swing radius. I have had to tell them to stand back, way back. My machine is older and I fear an accidental jerk or wide swing that will hurt someone. Seems like some guys think you have total control over what the machine does. Not always true.

    I have a day like that. It’s a great day because I am rewarding someone who has a need for my skills and it’s always fun. Never feels like working. 😇🤩

    • @digdrivediy
      @digdrivediy  Год назад +1

      Well I haven't hauled any of it away yet, but we have a local volunteer that's going to take some of it to put in an eroding ditch bank.
