We had an aerobic system installed at my old house, old septic failed. Septic serviceman that installed the aerobic system did regular service checks (nominal fee) and it never needed to be pumped in 15 years. That was a local serviceman, said if you get it sized correctly, keep up on user maintenance, and don't do something to kill off the bacteria, it wouldn't need to be pumped.

Thanks for the video Charles. In another video, somebody else said that setting the little lever up (within the timer) would force the sprinklers to run. So, I did that and the sprayers DIDN'T activate. I opened the lid and with a hook I lifted the middle floater and the sprayers ran, so I know the pump is okay. You said that setting that little plastic lever up will activate the sprayers "anytime the floater is up"..........that makes more sense. -------------------------------------------------- The problem I'm having is the light (single light system) is coming on (along with the audible alarm) at around 4 am (very annoying). I go silence the alarm and in the morning the light is off. The level in the tank is low and I know the pump is working. The aerobic pump is working but it may not be pumping enough air. I disconnected the little tubing from the aerobic pump and I'm able to see that it pumps air because I use saliva and I can see it getting slightly displaced by the air (similar to checking a leak in a tire tube). Maybe the aerobic pump/blower is not moving enough air? I'm going to replace the pump switch (I had replaced it about one year ago), about $30, and hope that's the issue.........sure hate to spend so much money to replace the aerobic pump/blower.

Did check the air filter on the pump; our pump is a bit different, as the filter was on the side. Pulled the filter out to rinse it...and it disintegrated in my hands. So, I got a piece of filter media that is similar to a sponge, cut it to the same dimensions as the original filter, and installed it as a replacement. May need to get some enzymes as you stated in the video, as ours smells like poo when it sprays, and some chlorine tablets since there are none in the tank...

It does not work properly, it does not decompose waste. All his searches for a professional who understands the design of this system were in vain. The one who installed this system is already an elderly person and it no longer works. The rest of the "specialists" just shrug their shoulders and say that the system is old and they do not know how it should work. Please help if you can. Sincerely, Andrey.
My liquid bleach ran pretty much dry so I added about 4 gallons of bleach to it. Out of ignorance, 3.5 quarts of the bleach added was low splash bleach then the rest of the 4 gallons was normal bleach. Is this a problem or will the regular bleach dilute the viscosity enough for it to not be an issue?
I buy the prochlor septic cholorine tablets however I have noticed when the sprinklers go on it smells like sewage water, what can I do? Should I buy the roebic along with buying 3 gallons of bleach and also still keep putting the chlorine tablets? I’m new to this but I can’t find the water pump filter

It has started smelling since using the Bleach. The tube is hard to set at a slow drip, it either stops dripping or goes to fast. You said 3 gallons of bleach, can I just pour that amount directly into the the tank once a month? IF so, would you spell the name of the chlorine you suggested. The man who worked on my system said to just use the bleach I use for my washing. Can too much chlorine be used? I have seen other posts, to put baking soda followed by vinger down the sink drains, etc.
It’s not important, just required by county or state to disinfect water when it comes out of sprinklers. The drip tube does the same thing. If your septic system stinks then you have a compressor out or needs to be pumped out or lack of bacteria.
I have to set my sprinklers higher or they get mowed over every time. I notice on one of my sprinklers there is almost like a sink hole around my sprinkler. It could of been from the last leak but it is not leaking now. Do you think it could be a slow leak somewhere else maybe the PVC pipe causing the water to puddle in that way.? The last thing-Do you know where i can get just the plastic safety pin part for my Hi blow 80 pump without having to buy the entire rebuild kit?

If they turn back on and spray you are good. If all your sprinklers do not spray then that is the pump inside the tank- Not a do it yourself job for most.
You mentioned that bleach and other harsh chemicals should not go into the septic tank. What type of chemicals can I clean the bathroom and kitchen with if I cannot allow those types of cleaners to go down the drain?

Looks like the grass around the system is dead or dying. Is the chlorine killing the grass?

Ray Pelletier you can retrofit under the table in some areas. But having it permitted is a good idea

You can use white vinegar and/or baking soda along with some soap and water for pretty much all of your household cleaning.
