What a great family. I’m sure their kids are going to appreciate just flushing the toilet and knowing the amount of work that goes into building your own house. What a wonderful experience for them and what a great job that family did. Good for them.
Hey good morning you guys hope you guys are having a good time hey I'm glad you got that part done now you guys got a bathroom now you need to build a house 🏠🏠🏠🏠🏠🏠🏡 have a good day😊😊😊😊😊😊😊
I was very glad, to see this project successfully finished ! It was a little stressful just watching you guys. That was a lot of work. And I give you a great deal of respect for accomplishing it ! All of your kids, did so much to help…You have a Great Family !!
You guys did awesome! Besides the actual real money you saved, you also have to remember the tremendous value of knowing what you have. Not to mention the value of the DIY skills learned that can be applied to both maintenance, and other projects down the road. GOOD JOB!
$8,500 is an excellent price given the rock issues you ran into. Excellent job. The knowledge that it was done right is invaluable. Thanks for sharing the details.
It’s your personalities and perseverance that really make these videos. Congrats on the amazingly hard work involved and the spirit it takes to tackle these projects. Still so impressed with your solar build!
Just watched this video, thanks for all the updates. Your boulders look like lava, ours here in new england are more rounded. If you watch Lumnah acres, in N.H. you will see BIG boulders, they put in their own septic system .
I’ve enjoyed every video! I’m living vicariously through you doing what I’d love to do (if I were 20 years younger)! Thank you, as always, for sharing your adventures and your family with all of us! Looking forward to the next project! ❤
Great time. What a project. Great determination. What an accomplishment. Love the takes at the end....the kids are awesome....even the big one named Jacob 😅
I spent the last 2 weeks watching all of your videos. I've been a subscriber for several months and decided to watch everything you've posted. I must say your entire family is fantastic! Love your channel and continue to wish your joy and continued success.
To be precise, you STILL have to tie the main house into the septic system, but obviously, that is pretty much negligible in terms of materials cost and the labor will be part of the foundation prep in any case. Now that I know the cost per yard on the gravel, I concede that buying a jaw crusher isn't necessarily the best purchase, especially since you'll be able to haul your own gravel from here on out. I'm sincerely hoping that Jacob has a set of rough drawings/plans showing all the components of the septic system for the eventual repairs/maintenance.
We're still waiting on the architect. Seems to be taking his time. Then after that, our plans need to be reviewed and approved by the county. We're still hoping to start building later this summer. Maybe fall 😥.
It was really something seeing the footage of you and your kids walk around in those unbraced excavations. Really glad there weren't any collapses causing injury or death. That was extremely risky.
The guys who did our perk test designed the size of the system. Basically, it's based off of how many plumbing fixtures are going to be in the house. Thanks 🙂
@@aboulderlifeoffgrid but you can't get the permit til u have the perc test. They make you have to bring in equipment twice which really hurts if you are remote area. I'm getting a design from my peec test guy too. I might risk it and dig before I get the permit but I'll probably need the excavator a second time anyway unless I backfill by hand. I got a quote for $7500 installed. I think I can do it for $5000 renting equipment, maybe not. The concrete tank is $1700
@aboulderlifeoffgrid what area in Arizona? I currently live in Phoenix and am planning for the off grid life and trying to decide what area to live in to be able to grow food…
You gotta figure the whole total system with electrical and everything probably cost you around 9005. Is what I'm saying because I was kind of watching close? You got. Around? Ten thousand dollars total and everything
Our house is going to have 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. But we oversized the septic system just to have a little more breathing room, so I'm sure it could support more. Thanks 🙂
You have to factor in the hours on the backhoe. Just because you own it, it isnt free. Also have to pay your labor hours. You did it for the same cost as your lower priced installer pretty much.
You had to pay 'WHAT' for some overpaid bureaucratic hack to sign a piece of paper giving you 'permission' to dig your own hole in your own property, so you didn't have to go outside to pee, [$300.00] WTF ???????????
What a great family. I’m sure their kids are going to appreciate just flushing the toilet and knowing the amount of work that goes into building your own house. What a wonderful experience for them and what a great job that family did. Good for them.
Perseverance. Muscles. Blisters. It all builds character. You all won! Congratulations.
It cost a lot but you have a working toilet now and you have water.🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉😉👍👍👍👍👏👏👏👏💕💕💕💕❤❤❤😊😊😊
$8,500 no bad!! Job well done!! Kids are adorable as always. Can’t wait to see your next project!!
Perseverance to an art form!
What a fight to get that last trench dug. Flush on!

That was a great video and showing the process.
Informative video. Well done guys:)
So glad I found your video! I am going to be doing the same thing here in a couple months.
Bless your soul ..
U all did an amazing job!
Great recap! Congratulations.
Great Job Guys- glad to see that you both are open to learning and doing these projects. Good Luck
Thank you 🙂
Videos like this are so helpful
Nice job. It looks like your bucket is invisible just like mine and just as hard :)
Thank you for the video 😊
Appreciate all the details.

Awesome job!! ♥️👍🏼♥️😁
You cant count the welder cause that was a mothers day gift, Hee Hee!
Weld metal fence posts together for probe and poke
Interesting presentation! I have a septic tank and of course I know where it's located, but I have no idea how far the leach lines extend.
It all adds up thanks for breaking it down. What’s next?
We have 875 feet of driveway to gravel. Should go quick. Thanks.
Here is a tip for if the backo is your own weld the teeth on they will last many years without problems you have the equipment to DIY it.
Behind every great man is a greater woman, be thankful every day with a grateful heart for your wife
So when do you think you'll start the house build? And when the house is done there's gotta be a BIG family celebration!!! 🎉🎆 😁👍
We're still waiting on the architect. Seems to be taking his time. Then after that, our plans need to be reviewed and approved by the county. We're still hoping to start building later this summer. Maybe fall 😥.
Just a thought, hind sight is 20/20, why not just dig a spot further down and roll the big rocks into the holes so you don't have to remove them?
Great video with so much helpful information!!! How long did the project take from the day you first broke ground after perc tests?
About 12 weeks, but that's mostly because of how rocky the ground was.
That’s a lot of work! No contractor could afford to do that job for 11K
👍👍👍
It was really something seeing the footage of you and your kids walk around in those unbraced excavations. Really glad there weren't any collapses causing injury or death. That was extremely risky.
How do you gauge your septic tank size needs? Is there a rough calculation based on the amount of people that live on the property?
The guys who did our perk test designed the size of the system. Basically, it's based off of how many plumbing fixtures are going to be in the house. Thanks 🙂
@@aboulderlifeoffgrid Thanks for the info. Love your videos, very informative and entertaining! Best of luck with your build :)
This is the first time I'm watching your channel did you have to buy a generator along with that welder,
No generator to run it. Our solar system puts out 240 volts so we can run large appliances. Thanks 🙂
Can you start excavating the tank hole after the perc test or do you have to wait for the permit?
As long as where you're digging the hole for the tank matches where they are putting it on the plans/permit. Then I'd say dig on. Thanks 🙂
@@aboulderlifeoffgrid but you can't get the permit til u have the perc test. They make you have to bring in equipment twice which really hurts if you are remote area. Is this Arizona? It’s gotta be Arizona. I swear there isn’t any dirt in Arizona. It’s all rock.
It sure is 😅
@aboulderlifeoffgrid what area in Arizona? I currently live in Phoenix and am planning for the off grid life and trying to decide what area to live in to be able to grow food…
How many weeks/months do you think it took? It's hard for us to tell watching your videos. Good job guys!! 👏
About 2 months.
Oops forgot to proofread
( not bad)
Permits: Local mafia bribes. If you get nothing tangible in return for your money, it's simple extortion, fraud, theft or bribery.
You gotta figure the whole total system with electrical and everything probably cost you around 9005. Is what I'm saying because I was kind of watching close? You got. Around? Ten thousand dollars total and everything
Where were you able to purchase the cement septic tank please????
It's called Perkins Precast.
👍
Where did you purchase the cement tank from?
It's called perkins precast.
How many bedrooms does this support?
Our house is going to have 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. But we oversized the septic system just to have a little more breathing room, so I'm sure it could support more. Thanks 🙂
Do you need city permit and health authorities permission in bc Canada 🇨🇦
We just needed a permit from the county here. Thanks 🙂
@@aboulderlifeoffgrid thanks man
Market quote is 45k in Victoria ,BC Canada
Wonderful video . Please more knowledgeable videos
Ok ....BUT YOU SAVED A TREMENDOUS AMOUNT
❤😊❤😊❤😊
$12k for basic
$25k for the now-required pressurized systems
Where are pressurized systems required?
You have to factor in the hours on the backhoe. Just because you own it, it isnt free. Also have to pay your labor hours. You did it for the same cost as your lower priced installer pretty much.
What state is this place?
Arizona
All that just to go potty ! How come Natalie didn't just want an outhouse ?
It's cold in the winter. 😁
Did you consider an aerobic system? Lots less work.
We hadn't heard of an aerobic system before, but it looks like they are more expensive to install and maintain.
@@aboulderlifeoffgrid you would not have that leach field.
Huh. Here in rural colorado mountains a new septic by professionals is $60-80k. Diy will be around $10k-20k.
🎂😍
