I’m going to have to plan a visit around this camera fair. As a teenager I was a camera geek and my first summer job that I had to earn money for college was in a camera store. As someone with no real skills to offer working in a camera store was a dream compared to working in a fast food restaurant or as a bus boy. The manager of the store gave me a written test and I got all the questions correct except for a couple about Ilford film codes. The manager was impressed that I even knew that Topcon cameras had an Exakta lens mount. One of the thrills of selling a brand new camera was cracking open the box and getting a whiff of the new camera smell.
Absolutely amazing content by two stellar figures in the extended community, Lok and JCH. It's a lifelong dream of mine to attend the fair in person. Cheers.
I used to use those cans of developer chemicals in my B&W days in the 1960s and 70s. I've not seen them since. So much of my life is becoming museum material. :)
Lovely, you have an old filming & photo gear fair annually in Lyon in France during the Lumiere's Film Festival, it's lovely to see how organized and well preserved these equipments are in Ginza :)
I follow someone on eBay form Japan who does sale these vintage mint cameras, I had never purchased out of fear they were clones. As a vintage camera collector and user, I appreciate this wideo. ~Jack, VEG
No, Ortho film isn't very common, but I got a couple of rolls of Rollei's Ortho 25 (bought from a camera store in Stockholm). AFAIK Rollei is the only one producing fresh ortho film (please correct me if I'm wrong, at least it's the only one I could find). Rollei also has a beautiful film called ATP (ISO 32) and some others. Right now I'm using Rollei RPX (mainly 400, pushed to 800) as my main film stock. But I also enjoy Agfa APX, it's a beautiful film (but I don't think you can get it in 120..)
I was in Tokyo last Fall and I checked out several camera stores. I can attest to what you say in that while there are no bargains in Japan, there are some excellent cameras available in great condition. MAP cameras in Shinjuku had a huge collection of used cameras and gear. I did get a chance to check out the Tokyo Photographic Art Museum in Ebisu which I highly recommend.
That was a incredible video, I love vintage stuff and collectors items. Or in this case rare things. What a place. Same thing if you like Arcade Games, they have plenty of that in Japan when most of that stuff is gone and not easy to find in Europe or America. Oh, how I wish Kai was with them in this video, he would probably love that place :-D
Do you guys know if Shutterbug magazine in the USA is still publishing their magazine or has it become a 100% digital magazine. Like "Oscaleresources".... Popular Photoraphy went tits up recently.
Thanks Lok, I really enjoyed that, but it looks like it''s changed a bit form the 80's. Hopefully you visited some other cool camera stores in Tokyo and will be able to post them as well.
"...same price as everywhere else" Currency conversion begs to differ based on those price tags. That red limited edition Mamiya 645 is going for $40,000 USD and the white one is going for $36,000 USD on eBay but at CP+ they were going for about $1900 USD. Granted those are just asking prices on eBay but still...I'm sure I'm missing something because that seems like a ridiculous price difference. Are those not price tags on the cameras?
The I.C.S group has quite a bit of power, so they are able to use the spaces in premium department stores, something that would be very difficult for other groups. Thanks
Idk if it's just the algorithm, but this is the second video in a row the mentions the Alpa reflex camera, and I've never heard about it up until a few minutes ago. Lol
this is so incredible ! is this always there setup like that or is it like a temporary swap meet/flea market?? Veyr cool stuff thank you for sharing!!!
This was awesome. I want to go there so bad. Is this showcase every year in Ginza? What is the website to go to to see the schedule of these kinds of events in Japan??
Modern digital cameras actually are often cheaper but he's right about film. I picked up my x100t in Tokyo for 250 dollars less than I would in the us shortly after it was released.
Y'all want Kodak you need to come visit me in Rochester, NY I live minutes from Kodak and it's a short drive to the George Eastman House museum. But I have a rather large vintage Kodak collection. I would love to goto Japan, perhaps we should switch lives for a few weeks! LOL
Video @ 3:30 - "but here (Japan), Mint means it's never been used)" - Not anymore ! - Especially on Ebay, they have totally ABUSED the term "Mint" - - - I guess being honorable is no longer profitable...
I kept my record collection, and it looks like I made the right choice. I still have my Nikons, maybe that will work out for me too. But in both cases it was heartbreaking watching their values fall.
Incredible stuff. How can the prices be the same though? Shipping prices from Japan to USA are $75-$100, and ebay Japan sellers seem to do plenty of sales. Youd be saving at least shipping costs if you happened to be in Japan and looking for a camera from the Japanese brands
I hate to disappiont, but an old school repairer I use to use when collecting rangefinders, said the Alpha's are a piece of crap and they weren't designed very well. "Stick to watches" he said.
Mamma Mia, different coloured Mamiya 645 - WANT!
+Kai W
My Mamiya (My Mamiya)
My Mamiya (My Mamiya)
My Mamiya's indigoooooooooooo

Kai W I love that red one.....

Kai W wish I have the cash for it 😢
Bellamy's like a kid in a candy store! Love his enthusiasm.
Please do more with him! That was absolutely amazing.
That arm strength by Lok holding the camera throughout the minty bit is the stuff of legend.
Lok, Japan Camera Hunter in my home country! Yes! Greatest day of my life!
Absolutely enthralling. Thanks Lok and Bellamy.
I could have watched an hour of that
Great episode. Bellamy, please come back to RUclips!
Cheers Lok!
Nice going you two!! This was very informative!
Cheers Bellamy!
excellent tour!! Thanks so much to share with us!!!
Fantastic video brings back memories. My only complaint is that the video is only 10 minutes long instead of two hours long.
+McDivitZeek Noted... we hope to do more vintage camera stuff in the future, if there is an appetite for it
Photogearnews You'd better have Lok in it.
Amazing tour around the fair! Thank you guys!

Fantastic stuff - could watch this all day. I missed the fair by about a month as we're in Tokyo in late March so will have to remember for next year.
Very fascinating
I know nothing about this area but it's so much fun to see and hear about it from you guys. Fascinating!
Absolutely amazing content by two stellar figures in the extended community, Lok and JCH. It's a lifelong dream of mine to attend the fair in person. Cheers.
I worked for Kodak's advertising department in the 70s and 80s, and I actually had one of those Kodachrome briefcases.
Me too, i got one, without rusty locking device
what was the purpose of it? What was the use for it?
Looks like everybody loves shopping with this hunter :)). Love the vibe of him talking about analogue cameras though
I used to use those cans of developer chemicals in my B&W days in the 1960s and 70s. I've not seen them since. So much of my life is becoming museum material. :)
Wow! This is a really great video. Something special. I like it!
*weally gweat wideo
If you know what I mean lol
That was Awesome, love old Film Cameras.
Prices on most film cameras are going up, there really is a resurgence in interest for anything analog.
I love this place! thx for showing us such amazing old cameras ! :D , and greetings to Bellamy
A collectors paradise loved it !
I don't miss film... and yet watching this makes me miss film.
Absolutely fantastic
Wow this is really cool!!! I hope theres more of this!!!
Awesome . Love to see the folding (Journalist) camera & the Panoramic Camera. You didn't show us the enlarger, I saw it near a large folding camera.
Amazing! What a treat. Thanks for sharing.
That Mamiya 645 in white OMG!!!!
Lovely, you have an old filming & photo gear fair annually in Lyon in France during the Lumiere's Film Festival, it's lovely to see how organized and well preserved these equipments are in Ginza :)
+ProArt18 oh, interesting! And we can now get the Eurostar from London to Lyon! We may have to check that out!
I follow someone on eBay form Japan who does sale these vintage mint cameras, I had never purchased out of fear they were clones. As a vintage camera collector and user, I appreciate this wideo. ~Jack, VEG

We love lok!
Happy to see both of you in a video! More bellamy videos!
Loks face in the thumbnail is like "Please I haven't see kai in so long my powers of immortality are draining"
that or he just wants some coffee
It's cool to b w someone who's passionate and knowledgeable. Fun!

Just located one of the kodak ektachrome case, the original one, curious how much should i pay for it, quite interesting for me
More of this, very interesting stuff!
more of these videos please
Super wideo!! :) Really liked this.

Thank you Lok! So fascinating.
Loved this episode!
Nice that you two got to hangout together...where is Mijonju?
8:03 OMG the 135mm lens for my Bronica RF645!!! These are IMPOSSIBLE to find.
Correct. My Bronica RF has the 135mm framelines and no lenses available. Wish I bought a newer RF with the 100mm framelines.
Do you guys know if Shutterbug magazine in the USA is still publishing their magazine or has it become a 100% digital magazine. Like "Oscaleresources".... Popular Photoraphy went tits up recently.
This was awesome, that dude is pretty cool.
Thanks Lok, I really enjoyed that, but it looks like it''s changed a bit form the 80's.
Hopefully you visited some other cool camera stores in Tokyo and will be able to post them as well.
Nice to see the old lenses gaining value. *hugs Minolta 50mm 1.4*
Where is Mijonju? I thought he is into old cameras too.
hello this fair is all year? or just one season?
"...same price as everywhere else"
Currency conversion begs to differ based on those price tags. Wonder what Bellamy meant by "power" at 0:25?
The I.C.S group has quite a bit of power, so they are able to use the spaces in premium department stores, something that would be very difficult for other groups. Thanks
Ah- got it. Thanks for clearing that up!
Love this episode!
Idk if it's just the algorithm, but this is the second video in a row the mentions the Alpa reflex camera, and I've never heard about it up until a few minutes ago. Lol
That was fantastic... thank you guys👌🏻👌🏻
Great video 👍
When is the next one? In 2017?
Officially now added to my list of places I need to check out and spend loads of cash at one day.
Really interesting video JCH is such a geek!! It's great. I think you could have done a 30 min video easily here ... :D
Great info about the camera in japan, i also thought japan sell cheaper camera!
fantastic wideo.....!
this is so incredible ! is this always there setup like that or is it like a temporary swap meet/flea market?? Veyr cool stuff thank you for sharing!!!
Cool Wideo!!!
Loved this!
This was awesome. I want to go there so bad. Is this showcase every year in Ginza? What is the website to go to to see the schedule of these kinds of events in Japan??
I just realized the word "mint" referred from coin minted
Fascinating stuff. Thank you.
Feeling a sudden urge to travel to Tokyo.
Drooling pity you didn't show all
Incredible place! I could stay there for several hours if I went there ^ _ ^
do you know anyone with a yachica t4 for sale
Modern digital cameras actually are often cheaper but he's right about film. I picked up my x100t in Tokyo for 250 dollars less than I would in the us shortly after it was released.
I went to one of the camera stores in Ginza once. My friends had to restrain me from ruining myself financially XD
the moment Japan Camera Hunter saw those old manuals, he came in his panths..
wow, that was nice...
awesome!!!!
cool video !!!!
Uau! Beautiful antique câmeras!
Y'all want Kodak you need to come visit me in Rochester, NY I live minutes from Kodak and it's a short drive to the George Eastman House museum. But I have a rather large vintage Kodak collection. I would love to goto Japan, perhaps we should switch lives for a few weeks! LOL
Mamiya 645 for $1800 USD? Did i miscalculate that?
nice video
Epic!
Video @ 3:30 - "but here (Japan), Mint means it's never been used)" - Not anymore ! - Especially on Ebay, they have totally ABUSED the term "Mint" - - -
I guess being honorable is no longer profitable...
As always, Bellamy an open book.
drooling guys ;-)
yo this is an awesome meetup
Amazing place, good job the English fella speaks Japanese 😃
Interesting.
i picked up a working Canon 2.1 megpix ixux from Tokyo flea market for 50 or 500 yen... I think it was 50....
Mint +++ does exist in Japan, just ebay.
This is the best.
I kept my record collection, and it looks like I made the right choice.
I still have my Nikons, maybe that will work out for me too.
But in both cases it was heartbreaking watching their values fall.
I miss film ;)
Incredible stuff. How can the prices be the same though? Shipping prices from Japan to USA are $75-$100, and ebay Japan sellers seem to do plenty of sales. Youd be saving at least shipping costs if you happened to be in Japan and looking for a camera from the Japanese brands
If you want to see a mind blowing Kodak collection, check out my friend Charlie Kamerman's! www.kodakcollector.com/
