Thank you Cara, i have looked at the Mitchell trousers several times but not bought the pattern. However having watched your video i am definitely adding it to my list. They look great on you.
Cara, They look great on you but I’m dying laughing at the thought of you unpicking yourself out of your trousers! That’s great! I’ve never made pants/trousers because I’m too afraid. I’ve only made tops.
Hello Cara, thank you for taking us through your process of making the Mitchell trousers, they look amazing on you. So glad you managed to unpick yourself out of them, the finished result is a perfect pair of trousers. I love this type of video when you review a pattern, it helps me decide if I would be able to make it myself, especially when it is a more involved make. Have a lovely weekend. 😍
I sew in stages now.I used to cut out the fabric and sew the garment. These days so,e of my sews are more complicated. But even for simpler things, various health issues means I simply cannot sew for hours. And I found I wasn’t sewing, because I couldn’t face hours in my sewing room. Finally, it dawned on me that I was in charge of the sewing!
Just found your channel! I made the Mitchell Trousers also and really enjoyed sewing them, too. I’m a big Closet Core fan. Their patterns fit me so well and I love the details they include. Great job and I enjoyed listening to you. P.S. my daughters name is Cara! Pronounced the same!
Thanks so much for your review of those trousers. They look so classy. What I did on a waistband that was supposed to have the hook closure, I used a small piece of heavy duty velcro, the sew in kind. It gave a nice flat look and stays closed. I just have to remember to put the velcro together before washing. I love the waist ties with the d-rings. I thing when I make mine I will try adding buttons to the sides and putting buttonholes on the ties. Maybe..... I have seen on welt pockets they are sewn shut so you get the look but they don't get stretched out of shape from using them. The inside finish is so professional looking.
Your trousers are beautiful! I,too, have a flat bum, so I was pleased to see how good they look on you. I like the video style - some sewing footage and some chatting - just right!
The trousers look great, and I am now definitely tempted to gvie them a go. I want to make another pair of Landers first as I am trying to get that fit just spot on: it's not far off now. The subscription box also looks good but I am afraid I can't get beyond the name - it feels like it should be for projects for little girls.
Okay I think I'm going to buy this pattern! lol With heavy hips and thighs due to Lipodema I think they might just camouflage some of the excess! I have a couple pieces of heavy twill and stretch denim I think I will use as toilles and if they turn out they will be summer capri length pants! You are such an enabler! lol
Hi Cara, I love this pattern and I need to buy it. I’m so glad you made this vlog, it’s very helpful and honest as always. They look fantastic on you. Thank you for sharing and have a fabulous weekend. Val ❤️🇨🇦🇬🇧
It was nice to hear that you don’t trace your patterns as I hate to do this. I sometimes trace but it’s so I can us the pattern for other people. I felt very guilty cutting into these expensive patterns! It holds me back. I love your trousers and looked at this pattern, thinking I’d quite like to make them. I’ve been unwell for a while now and hesitated because of the size of the project. I recently made a dress for a friend and because of fatigue, I took it in chunks, like neckband, sleeves, cuffs etc because I wanted to make sure I didn’t make any mistakes. I used to sew for maybe a day to complete a garment but realise that in the past always did it in chunks of time. I’ll have to sign off now as my son has arrived. X
Thanks for the inspiration Cara. I bought the pattern and was, like you, a little wary of how complex a sew it might be, but your video is very reassuring.
I think we've all got hot and sweaty while trying things on but I've not had to unpick myself out of anything AS YET lol. I think you have persuaded a lot if people to try this pattern as a result of this vlog. I love an involved make and those look like a really enjoyable sew Cara, thanks for your review.
Hi Cara, you've made a lovely job of those trousers, I've really lost my mojo at the moment, I'm doing some knitting while I wait for it's return. Hugs x
Thanks for the process for sewing these pants. I was interested in seeing the pleats and hearing how you felt about them. Next I would love to see the new Cashmerette pants made up before deciding which one to purchase.🥰
I have just finished watching. This was a very good review Cara. It was also helpful to describe how high waisted they are and tucking in is the best option. You could also wear the shortish version of the Linden or a cropped Southbank, You have also tempted me to try a subscription box from little miss sew and sew, where you can choose the pattern etc so will look at those. Many thanks x
Hello Cara, I love the trousers. They look great on you. Personally, I would cut off the waist ties near the d-ring and sew it together...hard to explain. Nice video as usual. I like your channel. I guessing you will see a bump up in subscribers again soon. Suzanne
Thanks Suzanne, I know what you mean about the ties, I'll leave them for now, it was lovely to try something new, but I don't think I'd make the ties next time
Those look really great on you. Hoping they do on me too. Going to look for a lightweight wool. I think I will need to line them…yikes I have never done that before!
Lovely trousers. Too advanced for me, I’m still using mostly beginner patterns (but I am shortly going to attempt a Lyra dress- collar and buttons! 😱) Something for the future though, definitely 😊 I enjoy your content and having recently retired hope to now speed up my learning process in my additional free time.
Great video thanks Cara 😊 I've been eyeing this pattern off and would really like to make them. I'm having tummy bloating a lot so worried they won't sit nicely as my waist can go up to just 2 inches shy of my hips - how do you grade for that?
Gggrrr so annoying that your sound didn't work. That hasn't happened to me but I have re recorded videos multiple times before I was reasonably happy enough to publish it 😬😪😁. Amazing pants Cara, you SHOULD be proud. You make me think I might be able to make them myself. I've recently started sewing in small batche's of time too; after work just do one step then leave it for the night etc. I agree, groundbreaking! All those tiny batches of time soon add up. So funny/heartbreaking about your zip episode!
Thank you, it's lovely to hear from you, I only ever record once and don't edit anything, it's exactly as you see it apart from adding photos etc. Honestly the trousers are so much easier than I ever could have imagined!
I love this pattern and bought it right away... Thanks so much for all this info, great to know. And they look as fabulous as I expected :) However I will skip the welt pockets and ties for the first time. i am the world's slowest sewer, and would never get them finished , the opposite of you :)
Great trousers the zip debacle made me giggle xx
Nightmare 😅
Your pants are lovely, nice job. Thank you for this video❤
That's very kind of you thank you
Thank you Cara, i have looked at the Mitchell trousers several times but not bought the pattern. However having watched your video i am definitely adding it to my list. They look great on you.
That's so kind of you Mary, I promise these trousers are easier than I could ever have imagined xx
I really appreciate everything you shared about this project. I feel a little more confident to tackle this pattern! Toile first, of course.
Go for it, it really is an amazing pattern
Cara, They look great on you but I’m dying laughing at the thought of you unpicking yourself out of your trousers! That’s great! I’ve never made pants/trousers because I’m too afraid. I’ve only made tops.
Lol, it would have been such a sight! Go for it Diane, the trousers really aren't complicated, genuinely you would be fine
Amazing pants, so beautiful. Congratulations! I've bought the Mitchell pattern and will start a toile soon.
Thank you they are amazing trousers!

Hi Eileen, the Landers are great, I've only made the shorts, definitely should give them a go!
