Seeing that auger running brought back memories of my dad loosing is finger on one. A loose string on the shaft to tie up the pto. He grabbed at it while it was running the baler twine hooked his finger and yanked it off. Lucky me I had to go and recover his finger in the barn yard. One trick of backing those small grain trucks up to an auger is lift your box up past your rear window you can see the auger better when trying to line up your grain door.
We'd all like to have newer, better and bigger stuff, but when you're farming for a living you do with what you have to do with. If it works for you great. Great video.
I like your philosophy of matching the tractor to the job. Growing up we had a 1940's era electric motor connected to an old transmission with rusted gear shift so kids couldn't shift it to a different speed. Worked great, always started in the coldest harvest weather - but an extra hassle because you needed a tractor and hoist to move from one site to the next, rather than just moving with the drive tractor.
My dad always thru an old tarp on the ground elevator or auger hopper to catch the spilled or loose corn and beans. You know who had to clean it up though. Cattle and hogs got a little extra at times too. Ps. You use what you got. That's what I like.
Love the videos. Please don't mess around with a PTO. The best thing you can do is promote having the proper safety measures in place. All anyone on here wants to do is see you succeed and enjoy what you're doing.
I used to think the same way about wagons being faster but after 13 years of using trucks that's all i use now my tandem has a nice chute on the back which fixes the mess you have and gives you another foot of reach less corn bounce out ... And i also moved the hydraulic valve to the rear of the box to control it ... Crawling under the truck to raise it makes you a glutton for punishment lol
Ad you a 12v solenoid spool valve to the pump. Then you can put momentary switches , one in cab and another on back of truck to control dumping. I’m building a grain truck now and that’s what I’m doing so I don’t have to go back to cab to raise it more. Valve is 130.00.
That old truck sounds good and looks good. Probably wouldn't hurt if possible to put a fresh fuel filter, tune up kit, and rebuild the carburetor. It will still be cold collard but it should help. I have my eyes on an old Ford dump truck. Anything I should look out for when it comes to the old Ford trucks?
Did you put the auger up in the bin like that intending to load the truck or wagons? Looks like it might work for that. Good video. Good to see youall are getting some corn put away on the new air floor! I made a few rod linkages for hoist controls that just stuck up in the floor of the truck . Looks like a clear shot to the passenger side floor somewhere. I just poked a hole in the floor and let that be the hinge point for the pivot. think simple. Those cable controls will freeze up and rust up. It is what they do.
it seems that perhaps there is more versatility with a small tractor vs an stationary electric motor... the tractor is capable of doing more work or may get a green new deal tractor
Truck not handy? Do yourself a favor, lay a 10x10 +_ tarp under auger hopper, fix cable, & fab a suitable rear chute. AND NEVER GET ANY PART OF BODY BETWEEN BOX & TRUCK FRAME WHEN RAISED (i know we all know, just a friendly reminder).
I know nothings cheap nowadays but you should get some pto covers just to be safe because ive heard some bad stories about people getting caught up in them
your laconic wry sense of humor cracks me up. It is one of the reasons why I like to watch. The other obviously is the intro "Hello Boehm Farm Fans"
No Fancy video intros here.

Bend a chute up for the back of the grain truck out of sheet metal. It just narrows up the stream of grain and makes it easier to unload.
We have the same truck but it has detriot 8 2 diesel.
Nice video Jacob I’m glad everything is going well for you friend keep safe .
Always good to watch. Thanks for sharing. Glad to see the sister skidsteer to my one still out and about to. Stay safe 🏴 👌 👍
For random pieces of sheet metal I'm partial to old water heaters. Good paint, large smooth pieces and cheap/free.

We use a international 706 or a 1086 for our augers and if we feel crazy we use a case puma 195 you can move some grain quick then
You need to build a metal v extension on the back of the truck similar to the extension that is on your wagons.
Great video enjoyed your comments your wit. Take the time to maintain things safety wise. I know from experience have a great day.
Great video as always Jacob 👍
My 🚚 Dump Truck has same BROKE cable as Yours. I have to do the same reach around. 👍
Nice start on the old Ford..
Only took a few tries.

Thanks for the info
Had same type of truck. Carburetor sucked on it. Was cold blooded in August. Rebuilt it was much better.
Great video, like your set-up
Is there an update on the 2+2 coming up
I mention it in a video coming up.
We all want the 2+2 running for spring I can safely say!!!!😍🤩

Besides the regular stuff, I can't rightly tell you anything specific to look for.
Like that old FORD.

My 2013 ford fusion has a block heater, its from Nova Scotia
Do things the way that works best for you :)
Any chance of a video with the skid steer doing some work?
Yes yes work out good with your master whoever degree it looks pretty darn good just like we all knew it would good job
Thank you
Regarding the truck.
As long as it works, it works.
it seems that perhaps there is more versatility with a small tractor vs an stationary electric motor... the tractor is capable of doing more work or may get a green new deal tractor
Keep plugging away... 👍
Any idea of the corn moisture going in? Good job.
Life of a cold carbureted engine block
Your gravity wagons have a chute for unloading. Could you build a chute for the truck?
Yeah, it has one, and I stole it for a gravity wagon.
Lol!! 😂👍🏻
How does the 2 speed work in the truck ? Most older trucks here they are stuck either hi or low range and you dont want to try changing lol
The high low is in the rear axle. It's all electric.
So have you finally finished harvest
Ha
Drop of chainsaw mix in the carb. My dad used to call pedal pumpers lazy..
"Nuance" Now there's a clever use for that word. 370 gas, little big block from the Lima Ohio engine plant.
Bet it feels good to get some grain in a bin.
It's magnificent!! And I know it'll come out smoothly.
What is going on with the 2+2
I bet one day you would like a proper workshop.
Yep
Cold natured Ford. Everyone I’ve ever had was cold natured as hell.
Wakeup around that pto staff. Neighbor got caught in one a few years ago unloading soybeans. Cleaned her up with a water hose and a 5 gallon bucket.
Esspecially after his dads accident
@@tysonfrank2105 what happened?
His dad got his arm caught in the pto of his ear corn elevator last year..... hes ok now but he got hurt pretty badly
@@tysonfrank2105 just takes one second and it's over.
Thanks
Let it warm up more
Hospital are extremely expensive

Havent been here for a while
Welcome back
@@boehmfarm4276 thanks
Do you ever use chain lube it stays on the chains a lot better than motor oil
We have plentiful volumes of used oil. I only use spray on chain lube on the square baler because one chain is inaccessible for dumping oil.
Oldy but a goody
Enjoy sence of humor danger has to be a worrying on your farm lol
I know nothings cheap nowadays but you should get some pto covers just to be safe because ive heard some bad stories about people getting caught up in them
That really didn’t want to run did it lol? 👍🇬🇧🇺🇸🇬🇧🇺🇸
Not while cold.
👍👏👏👏
Cable is cheap
👍🏿👍🏿👍🏿
Block heaters on gas engines is so that the engine block didn't crack due to the changes of extreme temperature changes
Please get some shields over the pto shafts, made me cringe every time you were by the things.
👍👌🇨🇦❤
