It does oddly enough feel like a dlc when you put peppino in sugary spire, which i feel is more of a compliment than anything! The devs did a really good job with capturing the design philosophies of pizza tower in these levels, and definitely deserve congratulations for it
Peppino has had it up to *here* with tall, edible-filled buildings.

It's based on Sugary Spire, a fangame for Pizza Tower. Basically a character-swap AU but expanded upon a lot with more original stuff.

There's been some rumbling implying at least one of the devs is an extreme racist so you're probably not too far off.
Nobody has made that claim outright but I've been through "one of the devs is a monster" enough to know what it looks like.

Sugary spire is just an unofficial pizza tower DLC, If it was DLC maybe I'd respect it more. It really does make you question whether it's "inspired" or just a massive ripoff
I mean you can't really call it inspired since it's basically the same thing but candy nor can you call it a massive ripoff because of the sheer effort put into it and stuff like that, Sugary Spire is basically an alternate timeline of Pizza Tower, so I guess we can just call sugary Spire an "Alternate Pizza Tower"

Its supposed to be an AU i think.
From what I understand it was started because someone wanted to make a game with The Noise but the developers were like "yeah cool idea but we don't want lore being controlled by a 3rd party so you can make an AU instead" so Pizzelle was created.
Ultimately it was the right decision. Pizzelle is a way better character and the Spire has its own unique aesthetic.
It's not a rip-off, since it takes place in an alternate universe to pizza tower, and you literally play as another version of the noise, it would be a pretty bold rip-off lol
