This is the only video of this amp that matters, the only one that convinced me I should purchase it. Mesa could've just gotten Ola to demonstrate it, haha. Great job! The Swedish Chug maestro never disappoints!
Nah, it just seems all of you saying this are actively seeking out only one sound and particularly genre to go along with it. There have been plenty of diverse demos and straight ahead metal demos from Mesa themselves
I have to agree! It's so surreal to just have a brand fucking new Mark IIC+ in front of you! I was glad to purchase one as well! Hope you enjoy your amp too, and have a wonderful holiday with your family!~
Ola can calm down tons of argues on forums with just one tight chug. I wish it worked like that with everything bad on the planet. As always, a great video, detailed explanations, and it is worth noting the classy, stylish room, it fits the amplifier itself. And it also with matching color.
Thanks, Ola, that was very informative. I'm glad you got to check one of these out, and give us a response. I have one on back order from Sweet Water. I can't wait to check it out. I have the JP2C, and a Mark V, but this is the holy grail. Oh, and merry Christmas.
Very well done, Ola! Straight to the point. Mesa should have sent you the amp day 1 to do a proper launch demo. Merry Christmas man, and thanks again for joining the IIC+ Facebook group!
I've not owned a MK amp, but I have the Studio pre amp, and I have to say I was blown away by the manual they give with these amps and also what the amp can do for an '89 model! They even simplify the explanation for dummies like me and tell you to just use the treble knob as a gain knob 👍 Also, Merry Christmas Ola!
@@JonManProductions Have you seen what modern amps you can get for that money? Diezel, Bogner, Friedman, ENGL, other Mesas. Why waste money on a "vintage amp." It's not that good. People are blinded by some misplaced nostalgia for something that isn't what they think it is. It's not the metallica amp. They used a modified 2c++ into a different power amp anyway.
It took me 5 years and a older brother to teach me how to use this amp. He gave me this amp in 1998. I'm going to college gift/ nightmare for my dorm gift. I never could dial this amp in. Until 6 years later, he flew out to my house and saw the amp was out, plugged it in my cab, (I had a Uberschall I was running at the time) and i can hear him jamming in the house. I recognized that tone from years ago from him playing at home and when he played live. I wrote down the EQ settings and never touched them again. I kept the Uberschall blue but never really used it. What a great amp.
@trevorhirst5096 it's looking like terrible all the way, mids about noon, bass nearly to 0. Gain all the way, the Master turned a 3rd of the way. I use a boss T.A.E. the graphic eq is pretty much in a V with the two terrible nearly parallel. I don't think I bumbed anything, putting a side for my Framus cobra. I have an 8x4 amp selector, but sometimes I have employees that move around gear as well. Hopefully, they didn't change anything. Lol. I don't know where my notes are at the moment.
This is the real thing. That intro is the best you’ve ever sounded. I don’t care how much people use sims, they are not the same. And as much as people want to chug with it, it’s really lead where it is unbeatable. That’s what it was made for. The only question now is IIC+, Mark VII, or JP-2C? I know you have all three. An in-depth comparison would be really helpful for people who are trying to decide.
Who said anything about amp sims? Also, why does it have to be a competition? Amp sims are fantastic and many people prefer them, so maybe stop with the gatekeeping and just enjoy what you like best.
Such minor difference that can get EQ'd out pretty easily whether an actual EQ, boosting, etc. I'd go with the JP-2C if for no other reason than the separate EQs. I don't mean to diminish either the Mark 7 or reissue, you could make ANY of them work I'm sure.
Thanks for the explanation on how to dial the tone. I own an old Mesa 50 Caliber + since the 90s. Always had a hard time dialling in a proper tone. Your explanation will help a lot since the Mark II and 50 Cal seem to be configured the same way. Happy Christmas!
Best demo done on this amp. All the other demos are pretty bad at getting the tone we all want to hear. I was disappointed with the sound of the amp until now. Wow, you dialed things exactly how I would.
This one with a jc120 ....and you can die serenly ....the beast reborn .....the next decade will be very heavy i think....thanks for this video, great ( dark and sober ) studio....and merry xmas everybody ....may the trash metal be with you!🤘😎👍🎅
Have had my single rect for almost 20 years now. Still can remember the first time i hit a power chord on that thing. Mesa user for life here. Now with all the mark iic buzz i bought the vst and am on an absolute tone journey and loving every bit of it.
Right on, and I welcome more gain, the IIC+ really needed the ++ mod to get to perfection, which this'll be closer to, right on. Time to sell my Mark III/IV :D
Wow, great video! I hope that in the comparison video you compare the original and the JP2C. It would be great to hear all three together. I’m wondering which of the three you prefer? Especially the JP2C to the re-issue.
Making me miss my mark III simulclass… these mark amps are really special. To be able to get tight modern tones with no overdrive boost (pedal) in front of the amp is basically unheard of with any other amp.
@@snapascrew That's one of the top reasons I loved the Mark series heads. But when it comes to the older one's sometimes you an OD up front to get it 'just right' because the old one's don't all chug exactly the same. At least in my experience.
I have a question about the oscillation going on with the reissue ? What’s the cause ? Have you had this issue ? I haven’t seen you mention it. Any help would be great. Thank you. Troy
The problem with quick comparisons is that they're just a snapshot. All of those amps can be dialed in to sound extremely close to each other, as seen in his other comparison between the OG 2C+, JP2C and VII. That doesn't mean they're not completely different amps for different people or have different features that the others can't emulate.
I just got my hands on a Mark III Blue Stripe DRG, which has a pretty similar lead channel to the 2C+. I actually like the EQ off for the clean tone - does require adding back in some bass and mids though. Such a versatile sounding amp. I've been running a JHS NotaKlon in front of it, and the amp takes the pedal nicely. It sounds like a Klon and does Klon things to a clean tone, very lovely - and for the Mark III, can knock channel 2 into an alternate high gain tone with the boost, lmfao But yeah, even with the extra channel, both amps seem like they really could use a second set of the bass/mid/treble knobs if you're hoping for it to be a live performance multi-channel amp. I suppose that was the revisions for the Mark 4, 5, and 7, haha. Not to mention the unbelievably cursed footswitch situation for the Mark III where you need THREE pedals to alternate between your rhythm 1 and 2 sound, and the lead channel (think of it as like a 2 and a half channel amp), the reverb, and the 5 band EQ 😂 also the Mark III requires a mod if you'd like Rhythm 2 to have a separate volume control from Rhythm 1
Given component tolerances back in the 80s, I'd be willing to bet two Mark IIC+ amps from the 80s probably won't sound identical. Thanks for the demo, Ola, and Merry Christmas!!
@@nickx1754 you’re totally right Nick. I have 2 OG simuls that both definitely sound like a simul IIC+ but slightly different from each other. The reissue sounds incredible
Hey, will a Shure 57 instrument mic handle this kind of heavy distortion amp sound? Would be great to see you do a "Will it Chug" video on Instrument Microphones.
I have a theory that you can basically make a Mark sound more like a 5150 if you dial down the treble knob slightly and use more of that mid knob, and get a more rectifier sound if you crank that bass knob on top of it and use the deep too :D
Merry Christmas guys!
