WOW. That totally sucks! And good to be aware of. But sometimes it is possible that a deal that seems too good to be true, is, actually, true. I got a very good deal on a 2nd hand PolyBrute recently. Now I was meeting the guy and paying cash, but he did use a lot of those tactics described in the video, but that was more to rush me into decision rather than to scam me. And the PolyBrute itself, immaculate, still with the screen protector stickers and I don't think he ever even played it. And I have it right here in front of me 2 months later still working and sounding amazing. Maybe I was lucky, and maybe paying in cash gives confidence, but my point is don't dismiss a good deal, at least look into it because you never know.
I'm not comfortable with Clarke Kent having to edit Superman's content, unless they're the same person? The glasses are deff a red flag, I don't know what to believe.
Sorry that has happened to you. I made a mistake recently selling a Radial Reamp box. Reverb suggested a photo, and I picked it. Yeah, it looks just like that. I also provided a photo of MY reamp box that I was selling. Well the one suggested by Reverb was the stereo model and I was selling the SA model. Someone bought it, and proptly asked for a refund when they noticed it wasn't the one they thought they were buying. Totally my fault. Honored the refund right away. I'm just glad I did not spend any of that money.
There are a few more lessons to learn: 1. Sharpen negotiation skills to get better discounts from reputable dealers. 2 Don't retaliate but at least give yourself that option by buying from a business that has a known, accessible physical location. 3. Factor in the opportunity cost of time spent trying to save a couple of hundred bucks. It shouldn't take a 15 minute video to describe the transaction even if it is successful, imo. 4. Develope some detective skills to learn how to go get them.
I was badly scammed once. That wasn't even on Internet but in London. The scammer was a real gentleman and I had some loose money at Soho so I don't even think it as a bad act. With musical instruments you always have to weight the pros and cons. I bought an MPC 3000 LE from a really shady guy and I literally had to replace all the tactile switches and the pads and I only got around 300€ back from the seller but I didn't want to cancel the deal. My best purchase moneywise probably a Reverb deal from Poland, I got Chandler Curve Bender for a real good price but the seller was really shady and immediately when I received it I noticed one of the bypass switches was blinking. But I got a new led light from Chandler's excellent customer service and the problem was solved. I also do have a Juno 60, now in need of power supply recapping, but we "good guys" will keep them alive!
A million and one ways to get scammed... choose one! I see more questionable ads on Google search than legit these days too. Even linking suggested products to a very good fake reverb site etc and when you search the product and seller on the actual reverb, neither exists. So sorry it happened to you and ty for sharing. Seems like just yesterday you were hanging lights on the roof, and here we are again. Happy holiday wishes to you! 🎄
It's truly insane how often this happens to people, and I am SUPER strict when it comes to sending money so made sure to follow every safe step I could - I hope Venmo fixes that issue because it's such an easy way for people to get tricked when trying to be safe and protected - Thanks for watching and commenting, crazy it's been that long since last year! Haha, miss those vlogs! Hope you are well and happy holidays brudda!
This is why it pisses me off so much that you simply cannot purchase most analog hardware in a store. And the price of used gear can save you A LOT of money when you are venturing into outboard gear. There’s no real safe to do it man. And I honestly think it requires a bigger solution because I’ve generally had a good experience through Sweetwater gear exchange, but I don’t trust third-party websites and even on there I’ve had people screw up and basically send me the wrong product. It’s really hard to buy used music gear in person unless you get lucky. So I’m at the point where an ad seems even one percent like it COULD be a scam, I’m out. Like recently, I saw an ad for a used Avalon VT 737 for like 1400 bucks and the guy claims it worked with no issues. Yeah right… unless there’s a bomb inside that’s rigged to explode as soon as I plug it in lol. it’s true…. The biggest red flag is a price that’s too good to be true….and that makes it even worse because we’re all just trying to save a few hundred bucks
Nah I’m only buying items I can put my hands on. Even cars. A dealership told me to come and sign the paperwork since I’m from out of town. I told em to pay for my flights. People do suck. I remain solid.
Having owned a juno60 I can tell you it sounds amazing but doesn’t feature velocity amp settings so it’s basically a overhyped organ. You are a fool for wanting a juno 60 to be shipped in the first place. I drove 3.5 hours to get mine 1way. Don’t be lazy. Test out before you play and do not be emotional, realistically value your money and cost/time of repairs. I sold mine
Great video! As an Australian, I'd have opted for the ten hour round trip. Ain't no big thing! Hell, most medical and dental stuff's at least a seven hour round trip!
I never had a problem buying synth online. I had them shipped even from Germany and Japan and never a problem. Now... if you are a fool and gay, the problem is you.
Did you really fall for this? Sorry if you did, but shame on you if not for “tricking” us 😂. I only use PayPal. Also, unless I can see the item in person forget it. I may even pretend that I am going to view initially to see if they are up for it. If not it’s obviously a scam. If they won’t let you view for whatever reason WALK AWAY!
as i have a juno 60, a TR808, and a original TB303 wich i have'nt used for years and stocked in the attic, WHY would you purchase obsolete hardware when you can use vsti plugins that sound exactly like the real deal one of these days i will have to put them on the landfill because i think after that many years in the attic they wont work anymore, its a shame, but they take up too much space, certainly the juno, anyway, always be careful from who you buy, thats a given, cheers
Simply analog is better than digital, too many things that digital has to emulate to get a discrete analog emulation, it doesn't sound as full as analog gear
@@BagMan123 thanx for the offer but as i'm living in the EU this would be extremely difficult and costly given the weight all these instruments together would weigh, cheers mate

@ I go local Guitar Center, trade in at maybe draconian price, though I don’t se my thing in couple weeks when I visit the store. Let’s store survive too. One time I sold online and it took me SO much nerves if I get the money (though it was smooth to what you described), I just won’t do it again. Thanks for share! 492k more ppl need to see it too.
Look, no disrespect man, I hope you get your 500k views and recoup your dough but the title of this video - 😬 Anyone who needs this to learn from and not make the mistakes you did, there's nothing that could help them in the first place. You seem like a reasonably smart person and you _really_ goofed up here. Like, early in the video when you paused and were like "let's stop cuz there's been a bunch of red flags and you're missing all of them" - we were all like, "Uh, yeah, _no._ We haven't. We literally noticed each one." Seems like maybe you just got _super_ googly eyed for a cheap Juno and let go of your better senses or worse yet - thought because of the videos he sent that yea, he's a scammer but maybe he _does_ have the gear and perhaps you could out smart _them_ by getting them to send one of the pieces for the $1000 and the promise of more money from you via Zelle when it arrived. Anyway, bummer. Getting scamned sucks regardless. This is why even a _whiff_ off fishy puts me off. By and large, insane deals are a thing of the past. With the internet in everyone's pocket, everyone knows what everything is worth. Even the old lady who finds something in her attic that belonged to her husband or child. This has caused prices to all pretty much level out. Everybody wants what everyone else is getting price wise. With the only exception being things that have been sitting and people who need the money _now_ and then will price their item for +/- 15-25% less than already low market value. The best success I've had getting good deals on used and vintage gear has been from either relationships I've built with dealers abd private sellers who have sold me a lot of stuff in the past and are then willing to give me a deal on something and/or because they specifically want someone who they know will use abd cherish it to have it. Or re-sale places like Guitar Center and pawn shoos where someone came in and tgey were able to buy it from them _really_ cheap and then can sell it really cheap. Especially pawn shops on Buya.com - I've gotten a Distressor for $900, a Neuman M149 for $2600, great deals on Drawmer comps and gates, older DBX stuff, cable bundles really cheap and a bunch of cool dynamic mics (stuff like RE20's, beta 57's/98's/58's/91's, SM7b's, 421's etc) and workhorse condensers (KSM137's, SM81's, AT4050's etc). When it comes to stuff like classic, vintage instruments though, these kind of deals just don't happen unless you know someone who has something you want and wants to hook you up.
Hang on, from what I gathered you haven’t payed him the full amount for either of the goods right? Are you sure he’s not just paranoid that you are trying to get him on a cheaper price? I’m not taking sides here, don’t get me wrong. I’m just confused cos I thought that $1000 isn’t enough for one of the products based on the deal arranged
Fair point! I guess $2250 was the total and they wanted $1200 for the Juno so $50 short on the RE-201 if they sent just that but…they mentioned multiple times they’d ship with only a deposit with as little as half - also it’s been a week with no reply and no refund :( I want to think the best in people TRUST that and I suppose there is still hope but it’s pretty unlikely at this point, big time appreciate you watching and being a part of the community here!
Occam's razor tells me it's definitely a scam. Why? - The manipulation: A legit seller wouldn't try to manipulate you and push you by telling that his friend is moments away from stealing the deal. - Video and pictures are clearly of two completely different units: A legit seller would have video and pictures of the same unit. - Payment with protections: A legit seller wouldn't have any problems using PayPal or any other service with proper protection. Period.
No sympathy for you. Passively, you were pulling a scam of your own. You were preying on someone who didn’t know what this was worth, and rather than tell them, you tried to snatch it up. You even tried to sucker for more. No, you were not actively scamming, but you knew perfectly well that this wasn’t going to be a deal on the level from the onset. This is just karma and you got what was coming to you. Sorry if you can’t handle this, but a spade is a spade.

Reminds me of when I got scammed on square for my MacBook. Sorry that happened bro, let’s get the views to 500k🤙
Bruv totally forgot that happened! Yeah man, big bummer but let's hit that 500K! Thanks for watching as always fam 🙏
@ it’s no task man, the videos are super fun to watch, always excited when I see one pop up!
That sucks. Man, so sorry that this happened to you.
Loveandpeace.
There are a few more lessons to learn:
Unbelievable deal = for an NPC
What happened after this? Follow up emails? Dead silence?
Yep, dead silence, followed up multiple times, asked for a refund, the whole thing, now working with Venmo and my bank to handle the rest
I love the end text: Music created with part 🙂
A million and one ways to get scammed... choose one!
I see more questionable ads on Google search than legit these days too. Even linking suggested products to a very good fake reverb site etc and when you search the product and seller on the actual reverb, neither exists.
So sorry it happened to you and ty for sharing.
Seems like just yesterday you were hanging lights on the roof, and here we are again. Happy holiday wishes to you! 🎄
It's truly insane how often this happens to people, and I am SUPER strict when it comes to sending money so made sure to follow every safe step I could - I hope Venmo fixes that issue because it's such an easy way for people to get tricked when trying to be safe and protected -
Thanks for watching and commenting, crazy it's been that long since last year! Haha, miss those vlogs! Hope you are well and happy holidays brudda!
Buying and selling gear online is so bad anymore. You can easily lose being on either side of the deal.
Well, there are good deals out there, things are slow in the gear world. Just do your deals in person or make sure you are protected.
I remain solid.
you say its dope you are the dope
Maybe this will make you feel better -- I lost 6 figures to romance scammers from tinder. They knew what buttons to press.
Wanna buy some Premium Swamp Land?
6 figures! oh lordy, that is awful.
I bet it was the pig butchering scam.
I'm sorry how can somebody ignore SO many absolutely obvious and giant red flags?
Having owned a juno60 I can tell you it sounds amazing but doesn’t feature velocity amp settings so it’s basically a overhyped organ. You are a fool for wanting a juno 60 to be shipped in the first place. I drove 3.5 hours to get mine 1way. Don’t be lazy. Test out before you play and do not be emotional, realistically value your money and cost/time of repairs. I sold mine
This was cinematic
Great video! As an Australian, I'd have opted for the ten hour round trip. Ain't no big thing! Hell, most medical and dental stuff's at least a seven hour round trip!
CRIKEY!
One more thing it was Craigslist omg no way would have to be local meeting or halfway...
Just get a Juno-X and an RE-202 kick into the future
thanks for saving our lives
You had me at Craig’s list
😂 fair haha
Wow! You really want a Juno 60
You should have called him.
What pieces of shit. Thank u for the public service announcement. Cheers
I never had a problem buying synth online. I had them shipped even from Germany and Japan and never a problem. Now... if you are a fool and gay, the problem is you.
1-scammers suck, NOT all people. Stop with that hurt bias.
Nobody deserves this, but you certainly asked for it!
I’m sure they needed that 1k more than you!
Did you really fall for this? Sorry if you did, but shame on you if not for “tricking” us 😂. I only use PayPal.
Also, unless I can see the item in person forget it. I may even pretend that I am going to view initially to see if they are up for it. If not it’s obviously a scam. If they won’t let you view for whatever reason WALK AWAY!
as i have a juno 60, a TR808, and a original TB303 wich i have'nt used for years and stocked in the attic, WHY would you purchase obsolete hardware when you can use vsti plugins that sound exactly like the real deal
one of these days i will have to put them on the landfill because i think after that many years in the attic they wont work anymore, its a shame, but they take up too much space, certainly the juno, anyway, always be careful from who you buy, thats a given, cheers
Simply analog is better than digital, too many things that digital has to emulate to get a discrete analog emulation, it doesn't sound as full as analog gear
I’ll buy em off you
@@BagMan123 thanx for the offer but as i'm living in the EU this would be extremely difficult and costly given the weight all these instruments together would weigh, cheers mate
@ I am in the u.k
@@BagMan123 still a long way from Ostend to send via mail/post
The contrived editing room cutaways are extremely grating.
I want to make a video like this talking about something bad that happened to me . People love it look at this - lot of interaction . People love misery :D
I was born an orphan in the middle of the Sahara on Friday the 13th . . .
Another one is hacked PayPal accounts.
Wow! That wouldn't have happened to me!
Thanks!
Totally, completely unnecessary but SO beyond appreciate you have no idea 🙏
It's happened to the best of us like Bush said "once fooled" ... don't forget it 🙂
There is no way this video is legit. This has to be a view mine.
That bastard 😂
Hope you just staged this great and educational video! ❤
I wish that were the case, complete honest and true story that just happened 😞
@ I go local Guitar Center, trade in at maybe draconian price, though I don’t se my thing in couple weeks when I visit the store. Let’s store survive too. One time I sold online and it took me SO much nerves if I get the money (though it was smooth to what you described), I just won’t do it again. Thanks for share! 492k more ppl need to see it too.
If it seems too good to be true........
First mistake: wanting to buy analog gear 😊
Hahaha for real
Damn!
Isn’t it a flag that they are clearly non English speakers?
you basically took advantage of yourself with your greed. nobody is giving a friend deal to a stranger for vintage roland gear.
this is the basis of all scams really. The too good to be true that you get greedy for.
Fair point! I guess $2250 was the total and they wanted $1200 for the Juno so $50 short on the RE-201 if they sent just that but…they mentioned multiple times they’d ship with only a deposit with as little as half - also it’s been a week with no reply and no refund :(
I want to think the best in people TRUST that and I suppose there is still hope but it’s pretty unlikely at this point, big time appreciate you watching and being a part of the community here!
Period.
Lmao just tell him to make a free PayPal account and if you can't you have no business of being a seller... either way suck it happened :(
😢
No offence but red flag after red flag and you still carried on, this is basically funding more scams.
