    I've been at the hobby for a short time. There's volumes that would fill sets of encyclopedias more details and procedures to learn than is possible to share in a two hour podcast.

    Thank you Dan and Rafa! Dan was absolutely correct in saying once you go “tracked” you never go back. I use a tracker with asiair pro and autoguiding to take reeealllly long exposures of the milky way at 14mm and 20mm. I’m just blown away by the stunning color and incredible detail that is revealed with this setup. I shoot my foreground prior to starting the tracker motor.
    Most importantly, I *always* plan my shots in advance with the PhotoPills app. New moon inbound, clear skies PhotoPillers!

      Thanks Darren! I've never dabbled into autoguiding before but I'm sure I'll try it out in the future, especially for longer focal lengths. Thanks for attending and for your nice words!

    Sorry I was late to this Master Class. The question I had is what to do when you live close to the equator and Polaris is low in the horizon (18 degrees) and the view to Polaris is obstructed by mountains or objects. What is the best way to Polar align? Use an equatorial wedge to set the degrees and a compas to point the tracker north?

    • @PhotoPills

      Let's see if Dan can answer this question...

    Great presentation. Thanks. You mentioned several times you use a Z-mount when shooting your MW panos. Is there a RUclips video of how exactly this works. I am having a hard time getting my head around how this would work. Thanks, GRB.

    • @CapturetheAtlas
      @CapturetheAtlas 3 года назад +1

      Thanks Gordon! There are some videos like this (ruclips.net/video/_H0yQWpAG0g/видео.html) from Alyn Wallace explaining how to use the V/Z. However, I don't know many videos explaining the setup for Panoramas. I use two Z brackets but you could also use a V + Z Bracket ;)

      @gordonbaldeschwiler6763 3 года назад +1

      @@CapturetheAtlas Thanks. I can see how it will work. Plan to order the Z bracket from MSM.

    • @CapturetheAtlas
      @CapturetheAtlas 3 года назад

      @@gordonbaldeschwiler6763 I really like them, always use a couple of Z on most of my images. You can use the code CTA to get 5% off those brackets at the official MSM page ;)

    Thank you both for such a great tutorial - really did enjoy this. I am looking at the Academy and have a question. Is this suitable for someone who has little knowledge of PS and Layering?

    • @PhotoPills
      @PhotoPills  3 года назад +1

      During the class Dan Mentioned it includes PS and Lightroom classes for beginners. But It's better you ask hi this question via his web :)

    • @CapturetheAtlas
      @CapturetheAtlas 3 года назад +1

      Thank you Alison! It's perfectly suitable for beginners; Starting with the basic module you'll have step-by-step tutorials covering everything in a logical order, included how to use Photoshop for the first time and the basic adjustments that you can use to start editing your images. You can shoot me an email if you have any specific questions ;)

    Watching this recorded. I see a benefit of using tracker is "increase the shutter speed". You surely mean increase the exposure time, which means reduce the shutter speed. No?

    • @PhotoPills
      @PhotoPills  3 года назад

      Yes... it means increase the exposure time :)
